BYU 14's "Old Guy" quick count sliders for The Show 17

I will preface this by saying these are likely niche sliders for gamers like myself that are on the plus side of 50 years old. I am very active and in great shape, but like everything else the eyes take a hit as you get old and I am not as good on the stick as I was 10,20, 30 years ago.

The purpose of these sliders is to create a fun, realistic experience for those in my shoes, so hopefully you will give them a try and leave feedback if that shoe fits

    Update 07/20/17 Patch 1.10
    User Hitting: Veteran or Veteran+
    User Pitching: All-Star or HOF
Hitting Interface: Directional (I like this because ratings factor in more)
Pitching Interface: Classic (Same as above and you need to get to know your pitchers to know when to release, as I play with vibrations off)
    Quick Counts: On
*I only hit with the X button, again to let ratings factor in more, rather than artificially expand the plate coverage, or power. User preference here.

I like a clean screen because it provides better immersion for me, so I let the catcher call the game. I have pitch confidence on and the pitch call out set to yes, but everything else is off, including vibration as indicated above.

I go with auto fielding and base running, and only decide which base to throw to.

    Personal Ump preference
    is on
Hitting view is offset zoom (That eyes thing)
Pitching View is custom, start with pitcher wide, elevate it and zoom so I can see the Catchers fingers.

Patches 1.09/1.10 may have been a boon in that it made most of the default settings viable again and continues to provide an awesome game play experience.

    Sliders for 1.10
    Everything on default except
Human Timing 2 (Need to provide some challenge on veteran hitting)
CPU pitcher consistency 4 (CPU needs to miss it's spots or too many pitches get grooved on veteran hitting)
Fielder Speed 4 (So you don't completely neuter the gap hitting)
Injuries 6 (More realistic in relation to the modern game)
*If you go with HOF pitching lower CPU solid hits to 4 (Everything else same as All-Star)
For pitch speed, it is important to keep both numbers the same, especially on veteran hitting, otherwise everything is too easy to time.

That's it, these have given these a good test run by myself and recently Bryan1982 and we are getting a good variety of results, pitching and hitting both factor in player ratings more than ever and fielding is better than it was on default pre-patch with slider adjustments. The combination of human timing and pitcher consistency adjustments prevent you from just teeing off on veteran hitting and All-Star pitching requires more precision than before, so you just won't mow through lineups.

Love the these, but how do you work around that manager hook glitch on QC? I tried everything

are these in the vault if so what title or user name are they under? if not, no biggie looks good.. not much of a slider user due to overthinking everything I do but seeing how I fit your user group or in very close I think I might take these for a ride for a series or so and see how I do.

but really my serious problem is I have no patience at the plate... and the CPU knows it this year

Patience is my issue too, which is why I went 4/6 on pitch speed, has helped me work counts and draw walks much better. I will upload to the vault later tonight.

The biggest thing seems to be the score with the hook setting on these. I actually started my franchise with the community rosters twice. The first game I got up on Archer 3-1 and he was pulled after 4. I accidentally deleted the wrong save and had to restart, second opener I touched him for 4, but the Rays were up 5-4 through 6 and the CPU left him in 6 innings. So it seems like the hook slider on 2 helps, but only as long as you are not up on the CPU. Will have to see how it continues to play though.

It is very annoying to see starters get pulled so quick and it would be great to say the game has early season pitch logic factored in so they are pulling starters sooner, but thinking that is a reach

I love using Quick Counts cause otherwise I'm only seeing 2-3 pitches cause I don't have the patience to wait and don't want to get to a 0-2 count.

Does hook at 2 better than 0?

Still glitched at 2, but it seems okay when the CPU leads, still pulls it's starter too early if you lead early. Tried 0 and saw no difference, other than relievers seemed to get overused.

First two games in re-launched Yankee franchise with the OSFM rosters

                  Game 1
                  New York 5-7-0 LP Tanaka 0-1, 5IP, 8H, 6ER, 1BB, 7K
                  Tampa Bay 6-9-0 WP Archer 1-0, 6IP 5H, 4ER, 2BB, 5K

                  HR
                  NY: Holliday (1), Bird (1)
                  TB: Morrison (1), Norris (1)
All HR were legit, I hung two sliders and on the two I hit Archer left a cutter high, mid plate, then grooved a 4 seamer to Bird.

                  2B: NY 1, TB 2
                  3B: TB 1

                  Overall I walked 4 times and fanned 5, TB 1 walk, 12K

                  Game 2
New York 4-12-2 LP Clippard 0-1 (Betances gave up the winning hit)
Tampa Bay 5-11-0 WP Colome, gave up a game tying HR in the 9th

                  Starters, Sabathia went 5.1, 7 hits, 4ER, 3BB, 2K and Cobb went 5.2, 9H, 3ER, 0BB, 0K (Overall I had no walks and 3 K's, TB drew 5 walks off me and 4 K's.

                  HR
NY: Bird (2) - Game tying tape measure shot off, high changeup in the 9th
                  TB: None

                  2B: NY 3, TB 1

I wasted chances all night long with runners on base, and was not as patient as game 1.

What really stood out is Tanaka pitched quite well in the opener, but I twice hung sliders belt high due to timing and they jumped on both. In game two they hit me harder, but several were right at outfielders and I kept everything in the park at least. Both games were very fun and pressure packed though, especially tough losing the second game off a walkoff single on a slurve from Betances that was actually a pretty good pitch.

Yeah I am the Cubs and I played the Cardinals for the first series and they used Alex Reyes the Long Relief guy all 3 games in the 5th-6th innings.

I have drawn 10 through 3 games, which is 15th in the league, but thought that setting didn't matter with quick counts, am I wrong there? Just curious as I mainly see 1-1 and 2-1 counts, very few 3-0 and a fair amount of 1-2 and 2-2.

This is what I'm loving. I go into each game knowing that it's a challenge. I'm 4-4 in my season.

Total home runs for those 8 games. (both teams)
                          1
                          1
3 (game was 10-0) I lost and had no homeruns
4 (this was a 20-7, don't know what happened, but it was a slugfest)
                          1
                          4
                          1
                          0

Pitching, pitching, pitching. Really paying attention. Throwing balls out of the zone to try to fool the CPU (they WILL bite).

Maybe it doesn't on QC,I currently play on normal and use 1.If they adjust the starter coming out so early on QC i will likely go back.

Game 3 and I salvage a win against the Rays in the final game of the series

Game was tight, tied 2-2 and I had 4 hits through 7, but got to the Rays bullpen and blew it open with a 6 run 8th.

                              Yankees 8-11-0
                              Rays 3-8-0

                              Pineda 1-0 went 7 innings and gave up 5 hits, 2 ER, 1BB, 4K

                              HR: Yankees - Sanchez (1), Rays - Kermeier (1)
Sanchez squared up a 3-1 changeup and crushed it, left the game later with a pulled groin, ugh.

                              2B: Both teams had 2

Stars: Holliday 3-4, 2B, 2RBI, 2RS for my Yanks and Corey Dickerson went 3-4 for the Rays.

Overall I drew 6 walks (best day in a while) and whiffed 7 times, I gave up 2 walks to the Rays and fanned 5.

Way to early in the season team rankings.
                              Hitting
                              Avg: .278 (9th)
                              2B: 6 (12th)
                              HR: 4 (11th)
                              BB: 10 (15th)
K: 15 (tied for 1st) - Will watch this and raise pitch speed to 5-7 if needed, but typically I go in spurts here, so bigger sample needed.

                              Pitching
ERA: 4.91 (24th) - this will come down
                              Hits allowed: 28 (14th)
                              HR: 3 (8th)
                              BB: 8 (8th)
K: 21 (26th) - typically higher than this, but small sample and Pineda usually fans more than he did this start.

Obviously still need another 20+ games to get a good sample, but expecting it should stay as it did in my testing, but I wish they would tweak the hook logic for starters. May have to bump that to 1 for starters, then up to 6 once relievers come in, which is a huge PITA.
