    Patch 1.04 hitting

Okay so as we all here in the slider forum know by now is how much different the hitting feels, looks, and even sounds post patch.

What are you slider makers thinking of to compensate for this? Maybe come together and figure it out because as of now the game is drastically different and not in a good way at all. First time I have ever said that about any MLBTS game. Especially after a patch!

The main thing I noticed they did to "tune down" opposite field homeruns or homeruns in general was to decrease the ball velocity off the bat by quite a bit!

This is causing balls not to travel for extra base hits now and far less homeruns obviously.

The thing it also eliminated were those "seeing-eye" singles through the IF. With my defensive slider set up it was perfect! Before, balls that were hit hard on the ground would sometimes find a hole for a single. But NOW the velocity off the bat is so slow that I've yet to see a ground ball get through the IF in 6 or 7 games played.

Also, I am now not seeing liners go over the ss or 2b in the gaps. If they do they travel so slowly the OF is there tp stop it for a single.

This patch has caused MAJOR problems offensively and it only takes one game played to notice the velocity off the bat is whack.

My idea is to raise solid hits (which I have at 7 anyway so staying there). But also raise power slider. When I read the description of what power does it is exactly what is now missing offensively. Extra base hits, and balls traveling further.

Anyways, sorry for the long post! JMO, but ball velocity off the bat was pretty much the only thing I noticed changed, which affected the hitting overall quite a bit as I explained. Thanks!

Good idea for a post! It will be interesting to get others feedback.

So from my limited sample I have had 12 singles, 3 doubles, and 4 home runs in two games with my HUM settings at 7,3,3,5,4. I definitely still have the seeing eye singles and extra base hits and home runs (at least so far).

CPU has 14 singles, 5 doubles and 1 HR in two games. Good spread this far at 5,5,2,5,4. I did not nerf power as much as some sets, so that may be making the difference in this case. I have both CPU contact and power at default.

I am not sure if solid hits is your solution. That sound like it would just create more laser hits. I would say if you batting averages are still averaging 8 hits a game, but is limited to singles, then adding power is the solution for extra base hits. If your hit totals are suffering then adding contact will probably make a positive impact. My guess is just a slight tick up in power should do.

Yeah I had power set at 3 for user pre patch. Put it back at default 5 and it's like night and day.

I have left power at 3 for you as I see no difference for them, although I need to play a lot more games.

I am thinking raising user contact to 6 and leaving solid hits at default would be best, you're right. By raising power back up to default I am seeing better hit variety now. So I regress from my OP in as way lol.

        Re: Patch 1.04 hitting

Well shoot. It looks like the patch is affecting my sliders after all. I had wishful thinking that I would be able I continue without tweaking!

It seems that the ball really deadens off the bat, especially if you go opposite field or have a late swing. I also feel late the PCI is much less forgiving if you are slightly off, causing more groundouts and popups. Unless you square up it will be an out. This would be okay if I were wanting to play on legend!

It feels like the patch looked recalibrate results for default settings which could mean multiple sliders are affected outside of just the power slider. For HUM so far I have bumped power up to 4 and had 4 singles 2 weak doubles and one well earned HR. I am going to try bumping up timing next to see if that helps, and add a bump to contact as a last resort.

CPU I bumped power to 6 for one game...they don't need it LOL! Back down to 5 for them but might increase their timing a bit. It just seems that the computer O is just listless followed by spurts of improbable hits. It almost feels like I am not in control of the outcome and I hate that feeling.

I have user power back up to 5 from 3 pre patch. Cpu power is still at 3. Like you, I raised it thinking I'd need to but nope lol!

I did raise hum contact to 6 as well and only 2nd game with that setting so we'll see. I think it will be fine however.

Like I said, the velocity off the bat just seems to be off, even with good timing and pitches over the plate.

I couldn't agree more, the offense for the user feels completely neutered post patch and, at least in my experience so far, the double plays are now back to how they were last year and happening far too often again. I was loving this game prior to the patch and now I feel like I'm playing in the dead ball era every single game. I'll be curious to hear how contact at 6 for the user works as I simply can't hit anymore for whatever reason.

About the double plays....you are correct! I always led the league in them on thos game until this year and I was excited to see this. Post patch I have hit into double plays like I did in MLB 14-16.

However, raising power back to default has helped and I do think raising contact for the user is needed, even though most in here will hate to do it.

Playing a game now against Houston in my Indians franchise. Took a 3-0 in the first with 1bb, 3 hits and no homeruns. Unfortunately the patch really is causing problems for the user offensively and sliders will most likely need adjusted for most of us. Especially if u are using directional hitting.

                Re: Patch 1.04 hitting

I'm using Armor's sliders verbatim other then I messed with the pitching sliders as I just wasn't able to see the ball well and moved power for the user back to default. Things didn't start off all that hot at Oakland as my Mariners weren't able to do much but once I got into the middle innings and worked the counts I was able to strike finally and the game felt much closer to pre-patch. I ended up winning 8-1 but had 12 hits, 1 HR, 1 3B and 2 2B's so not sure I'll touch contact in the end. In 2 games with the human power at default I've hit 2 HR's which is pretty much right in line with MLB averages, the 2 games prior to that, but post patch, I hit 0 and went a combined 13/65 (0.200) so I think that power slider being at default really helped. With the power at default, in 2 games, I've gone a combined 17/67 (0.254) which is damn near spot on to overall MLB averages (0.253).

Edit - I just realized I wasn't very specific, I meant I've only messed with the pitch speed sliders and put power back at default for the user.

That sounds great. Yeah I have fastball speed at 3 lol..

Power at default looks like the biggest change needed if u had it any lower, which I had at 3 so. I finished that game last night winning 5-4 with each team having 9 hits.

I had one homerun and the cpu hit two (cpu power at 3)...one being an opposite field homerun by Altuve. Second one he hit on me in two games. So the power at 3 for cpu is just fine!

Honestly, a lot of people are up in arms over the new patch and, I'm sorry, I just don't see it. I haven't changed my set at all and have seen more variety and actually higher scoring games. People are so quick to judge. You are playing franchise mode and your team gets hot, pitchers go cold....it happens on a nightly or even weekly basis and the show is no different.
