Most of my K's have been looking lately - which is frustrating, sometimes VERY frustrating if they keep painting, but I try to stay true to my discipline...because even more frustrating is swinging at ball fours...I just want to scream when I do that.

If I get caught looking or K on 5 pitches, it's a consolation prize. At least that's 15 pitches per inning.

I will use contact swing in other situations:

CPU pitcher dealing - I'll go contact to foul off and just try to poke singles to shake his "mojo" down a notch or two.

Advancing runners/Avoiding DPs - I want the correct trajectory without it being too bad, contact + influence helps.

Man on 3rd, less than 2 out - if any contact equals a run, you're contact swinging. Only exception is if you're a big slugger with no outs, then I might yolo swing knowing it will be 1 out and man on third and then can play the game the correct way with trying to get any contact with any decent trajectory.

Yep, I strike out looking on edge painting and also certain umpires who frost my *** (Clyde Washington and Woody Keller I am talking to you among others). I was able to get Chris Tillman to 53 pitches by inning two. I really do my best to work counts as much as I can. I have issues drawing walks....and since post patch 1.09 striking out is something that has ticked up...which is a good thing.

Man on 3rd....less than one out. yes I will more than likely contact swing with weaker hitters. But good hitters or boppers I use my normal swing.

Did I say I like to joke around a lot? Because I got shut out. Chase Anderson was painting early, and his change had me cursing throughout. I was able to get guys in scoring position a few times, but blew it each time. Game played great. Noticed different reactions of the ball off of the bat. I seemed to have more bat control with what I wanted to do at the plate. If I influenced up, I was hitting the ball up. For the most part, I've been influencing left or right a majority of the time. Only using diagonal in hitters counts with my power guys. If anything, the game got better. Now where's my check, SDS?

I wonder if SDS knows about this hidden crowdsourced workforce they have over here!

Maybe you guys should unionize (BLUTS - Baseball Lovers United for The Show) and then bring it to their attention.

And of course Gray pitches 5 2/3 perfect innings in my game today. A 2 out single in the 6th broke up his perfect game. 2 singles leading off the 7th after 88 pitches and a 5-0 lead I had to pull him. Chad Green gave up a couple of hits to allow the runners to score but ended up finishing the game for the ever elusive 3 inning save as the Yanks beat the red hot Orioles for the second straight game. Stanton with back to back 3 RBI games and Judge gets his first HR and first RBI in this one. O’s fall to 6-3 on the young season and the Yankees improve to 5-4, 1 game back.

I’m a big fan of Armor’s slider and they give me perfect results with HOF Directional hitting and Classic Pitching.

But I always prefered the batting approach of Zone hitting. With the new patch 1.10 I like the new changes for Zone batting and would like to give it a try.

After some testing, it seems to be missing a bit of Power. Even there I’m not 100% sure.

Would like to know your guts feeling on any adjustments to make ( if any) if switching from Directional to Zone hitting !!!?

I have not used zone hitting since The Show 2009. If Bcruise would like to chime in he is a resident Zone Hitting expert IMO.

Personally the human hitting and cpu pitching settings of this set are very close to what i use on on franchise with legend zone hitting. So i think they are a great start for you as they are. Then tweak if you need to. I cant speak to how they will perform on HOF however

Don't know about expert so much as "veteran" though I appreciate the compliment....LOL.

For me when I'm hitting on zone, the most important thing is to not try to swing at everything I think I can reach. With the PCI's being as big as they are this year, it's easy to think you'll make solid contact on a really wide range around the PCI, and that's not really the case. The hit quality drops off sharply as you get out of the middle, and unless you can square the ball up consistently you're going to hit into a lot of easy outs early in the count.

The way I counter this (and I'm not saying you have to, it's just my approach) is to narrow down my focus at the plate to ONLY the PCI area, and only swing at anything that looks like it's heading there. So I pick a spot before the pitch to sit on (sometimes based on pitcher patterns, other times I'll just sit inside to turn on pitches, etc.) and take any pitch that I can tell isn't going to enter that PCI. That means I will take called strikes, but I'll also take pitches outside the zone that I might have swung at if I was taking a more aggressive approach.

Most of my damage comes before two strikes, at which point I have to move the PCI around and at least try to make contact on pitches around and out of the strike zone. There's no advice I can give for that other than practice. Custom practice mode allows you to set a count this year, so you can put yourself at 2 strikes and the pitcher will often try to pitch you on corners or out of the zone.

Also, I know how big Armor is on his clean screen game (and I like turning certain elements of the UI off too) but it can help to turn on the PCI display on if you're not familiar with your hitters' abilities and PCI size. It'll give you a better idea of what you should be swinging at. That said if you do know your hitter's capabilities (and how pitcher's H/9 ratings will affect them) feel free to turn it off and just let it work in the background - turning off the display doesn't change the underlying system.

                        Hope some of that helps!

Same here. Even if i like Directional hitting for his realism in terms of stats, I always prefered Zone hitting exactly for that kind of approach at the plate who remember me most the time I played baseball.

                            Thanks @armor @bcbruise @nolan for your valuable feedback !!!

I have - I've played 3 full "test" franchise games (my wife and kids hate me right now) - SD v MIL, Det v Pit and LAD v SF.

Games played good, and stats looked good too.

                                1st pitch strikes between 58 and 62%
                                overall strike % between 60 and 65%
fouls per total pitches right at 16%
misses per total swings between 19 and 22%

All these fall right in line with MLB avg's.

I'll say this, though it is a small sample size - move off-speed pitch back to 5.
I've also noticed that you can induce a ton more ground balls if you pitch low in the zone - could be a fluke, but the fly balls have been toned down a ton.

Overall - so far so good
