No disrespect to Mike Lowe at all because I have never tried his sliders but for me Armor is the way to go. Been following him for years now. He goes for realism and gameplay and nails it every time. Intense testing is done and his sliders always shine. I think he will tell you himself that sometimes the stats may not mimic real life but for the most part the are pretty realistic. He goes with the "its your universe so play as you want and let the stats fall where they may" approach and it makes for an incredibly great playing game.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 18 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
@ Vertman I appreciate the kind words man.
So I will tell you that I develop these sliders for a very particular and niche player in terms of the game control scheme and hitting and pitching options I use.
Classic Pitching
Directional/timed hitting
Auto fielding with manual throwing
Totally clean screen with not visual aides whatsoever. I don’t even ha e the runner windows on or ball marker for pitching.
So I want as pure a screen and approach as possible.
I also played ball through the college level and have been a coach for 12-15U travel and middle school so I have a real on the field approach vs a saber-metric “statistical backing approach.
I want the dice rolls to play out based on players ratings first and foremost.
The skill invloved with using these settings is:
Pitch sequencing and executing classic pitching with a “feel” which does take a lot of practice.
Hitting - being able to have ultimate pitch recognition, sitting on pitches, and working counts. Situational hitting needs to be sharp as well.
Baserunning - I use default controls and love doing my own base running and stealing.
I have not had to stray too far from default the last several years because quite frankly the game is tuned so damn good out of the box and AI pitching on HOF is outstanding and challenging while human pitching on HOF is a very good challenge as well.
I really focus on hit variety, base-running speed and fielder speed and reaction as well as AI and human errors and injuries.
I suggest watching my streams on twitch as that will get you a real feel for the way I play and my approach and you can see if my mindset resembles yours.
Not every slider set is made for everyone. And again I stress this because I do not use zone hitting, meter or analog. I am quite specific with my settings.
I am really looking forward to next Tuesday!
See a lot of you on the streams!

One other note as well. I design these with gameplay being the #1 priority first and foremost.
Also I design these for gamers who will play every pitch every inning for at least 120 games up to all 162.
I am not crazy anal about statistics. And it has served me well in my total enjoyment of baseball video games and sports games as a whole for that matter. They really work themselves out if you have a simulation approach and more importantly “state of mind”

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 18 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
CAMERA ANGLES
This is something I've posted on here more than once in the past and I just have to reiterate it because it's applying to me yet again.
I don't know if it's a coincidence or if there's something to this theory, but:
Multiple times throughout my MLB The Show career I have found a camera angle that I love and that works really well for me. I'll see the ball really well and have a lot of offensive success. Then after a period of time - could be months, even years as it has been for me before - I'll get into a huge slump. This is different than just your typical "that's baseball" temporary slump.
Then, I'll switch to another camera angle, and it's literally like flipping a switch.
I have not been hitting at all lately and just went back to back to back with Judge, Stanton, and Sanchez. Yes, this could happen any time technically, but it was right after I switched camera angles, and a big part of it is a "feel" thing too. More than just hitting a couple dingers. It's pitches that I saw really well and timed perfectly, three straight times, and all of them were no doubters.
Conclusion:
I would highly recommend to anyone to not be afraid to play around with camera angles, and maybe have a few that you can cycle every few months or every year. I know that it's so easy to get accustomed to one angle and be reluctant to mess yourself up more by switching. My main three are the standard "Offset", then "Offset Zoom", and "Fish Eye." Fish Eye is the one I just switched to, and I haven't used it since probably 15 or 16.
I don't know what it is, if it's a physical human eye thing where we just get accustomed to one thing and then it stops working. I would almost compare it to building up a tolerance to like a drug or alcohol or something, I don't know.
Then again, maybe it could be just me and it's all in my head..
but thought I'd at least share in case anyone needed to hear that!Comment

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 18 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
I love Fish Eye but before that I was a Offset zoom maven. Love both of them and that is not a bad tip at all. When you are in a prolonged ice cold slump.....that is a great suggestion.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 18 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
I remember when I first switched to Offset Zoom, first game, scored 12 runs in the first 2 innings. No way that’s a coincidence. Obviously came back down to Earth eventually but it’s crazy how such a simple change can make such an instant and drastic difference, at least for me.
One thing I don’t like about Offset Zoom is that it takes a little bit away from the presentation and aesthetics for me. Just can’t see as much of the stadium backdrop, which is something I really like about Fish Eye.Comment

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 18 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
This set has played strong for me all year long. The only tweak I make is leaving the ball cursor on when pitching.
I just can't grasp how to pitch without it.
I know it's a "feel" thing, but any tips would be appreciated.

My fictional Red Sox have made it to the World Series on the back of 7 straight nail biting wins in the playoffs. I’ve held on to 1 run leads, come back from 4 down, hit a walk off homer in the ninth and been forced to make 5 edge of my seat saves.
Only trouble is you have me questioning whether I need the new game or not. Cheers!Comment

Armor, I’ve played all year with these sliders and have found they are flexible with skill level and play style as well. It’s been All Star Quick Counts with one or two minor tweaks for me and you’ve succeeded the Gameplay has been off the charts!

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 18 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
So as most everyone knows I am getting 19.
I had planned on having the entire week off to play.
Plans changed this morning. I was supposed to go to Disney World this morning for my son’s 14th birthday and be home Tuesday afternoon. He has a severe sinus infection/cough. Took him to the doctor this morning and got him a Z-Pac. We postponed our trip and will going Tuesday through Saturday. It is his spring break as well.
So I will not be playing till next Saturday night (March 30th). So I would not expect this years slider set to out for several weeks after release.
Needless to say....I am still super excited for 19 as I expect the gameplay and presentation to the best yet. And that will be good enough for me!!!!
So....we have a few more days left with 18 before she is put away (most likely for good).
I will be streaming The Show 18 as usual all weekend and getting pumped up for 19 and look forward to getting out a killer slider set for all you peeps. Now Playing on PS5:

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 18 Classic/Directional Simulation Slidersw
Just checked and the only tweaks are Foul Frequency down to 3 for Hum/CPU which Armor suggested for All Star. However because I have a carryover of justmuncs Fictional 17 roster which was in turn based off a Hybrid the game will be playing differently for me. I always found hitting on the old Hybrids a touch more difficult because of the combination of hitting re rates and pitch edits. Also because it is fictional I have no qualms about micro adjusting the gameplay by tweaking the player ratings. By dropping vision and or contact of a particular player or two you can get way more strike outs without nerfing the whole team. I actually adjust through the season with a view to replicating form a lot better than the in game system.Comment
