OK guys, so you gotta try not to fall into the rabbit hole of constant adjustments to the sliders.
I am still playing with the OP set to a tee. I am looking at two very small tweaks to errors and CPU Pitch control (again looking at not a definite).
But I can safely report I am striking out the CPU at a realistic clip, getting the CPU to swing and miss (chase at out of the zone as well as up and in and low in the zone) and I am also striking out myself and drawing a realistic number of walks. Please watch some of my streams. It is all there to see on video.
But I am early in my season. Once I complete the month of April I will post my team rankings in the vital stats as well as my players individual stats.
I am never touching the fielder reaction and fielder speed. It is absolutely perfect at 3/3. Baserunner speed and stealing is perfect.
The CPU has been mashing me of late after 6 straight games of me dominating them. Baseball is a marathon and sample size is so critical before drawing broad based conclusions. Not only that, we as users can go through slumps in terms of our own sharpness in hitting and pitching. And it will have nothing to do with the actual sliders at all.
That is the ebb and flow of baseball in a nutshell.
So sit tight, keep playing and do not tweak too much or stray too much from the base set. Otherwise you will get caught up in paralysis by analysis. I never allow that to happen to me. I am enjoying the game far too much to worry or look for small statistical discrepancies.
Remember this is not manger only mode. You are hitting and pitching, throwing and making tactical decisions. When you have human input statistics will never...ever be perfect.
Are you really having fun? Are you having exciting games? Are you getting great hit variety, defensive web gems, some critical errors? Critical walks? Big K's? Are you feeling like you are playing a great game of MLB baseball?
If the answer is yes.....you are good to go and don't worry about the inertia of statistics. In the end you will most likely see a reversion to the mean. I will also say if you are a play one sim 5 player......you will simply not see the incredible variety this game offers. IMO you need to play 100-120 games minimum to appreciate the game as a whole and understand why I use these settings. You will literally see it all over 100 plus games.
With carry over saves I am able to play this particular franchise (Yankees Year 2) every pitch every inning. By the time 19 comes out I will be in the Winter Meetings with this file ready to move it over for the actual 2019 schedule. I average a game a day. If I miss a couple of days....I will make it up with 2 on the weekend.
Stick with it. Near default is perfect for me this cycle. You can see I don't have any drastic changes except for 3/3 on the fielder speed and reaction and 8 on the injury front. They really tuned the gameplay and AI on the diamond this year.
Big time.
