All-Star Break!
I have reached the break 5 games out of the first place and the exact same amount out of the wildcard. The season thus far has had plenty of ups and downs, slumps and streaks. I sit at 52-45.
I have to say that playing on Legend has really forced me to re-evaluate the fundamentals and strategy needed to compete at this level, especially in regards to pitching. I simply approach the game so much differently than I did at the beginning of the season.
Overall, I am loving how the sliders are playing out. The biggest tweaks since the beginning of the season were lowering CPU contact to 2 and decreasing solid hits to 4, both of which have worked out really nicely. I feel that the run-scoring variety has been fantastic and the hit percentages ebb and flow. I was killing it on doubles recently but since then I am on a streak of more singles, so it is balancing out in the big picture.
If I had to choose an area that needs a bit more focus, it is lack of CPU walks. A lot of this has to do with how I pitch though. I try to get ahead of the batter as much as possible and end up with fewer walks to batters because they are making contact on pitches and putting them in play. On the flip side, I am drawing plenty of walks and striking out a bunch as well, so that feels good.
I have fiddled a bit with the FB,LD,GB percentages, but it seems that while the CPU percentages are really close, mine tend towards higher FB%. It seems that a lot of other gamers have this same issue, so really, as long as the game plays well, I will just accept it for what it is.
Alright, let's get to some stats, then it's time for me to get back to the game! As always, I am open to conversation as well as providing you with any other stats you would like to know that I do not have posted here!
If you want the full-stat picture, here is the link to my google doc. It has all 97 games stats posted and YTD totals. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...0T0/edit#gid=0

Summary: You will see that I definitely don't own the market in many categories. In fact I am mid-pack or less in a majority of categories, which just goes to show that I make the best of opportunities when they arise! This was the first time I have looked at errors and was surprised that I am dead-last. This might warrant a slider adjustment. They are also a few categories that I feel that I am just working my @$$ off for, and yet they fall into middle of the pack for league stats. I will be interested to compare my league totals to reality when all is said and done.
Pitching is what it is. The teams hit you hard on legend on the lack of complete games (though the league leader has only three) and shutouts is indicative that the CPU is not ever going to let down it's guard. My ERA and hits allowed totals have actually really jumped in the last month or so as I have really improved in pitching strategy and bullpen usage. Used to be in the dumps in ALL of these, so these are actually on the climb.
Here are some player stats to wrap up. I feel really good about these numbers in general, especially the HR totals. You won't find any record-breakers on this squad! Solid squad though. Looking forward the the playoff run.
