If the sliders are creating discussion i have done my job! I have been in a hitting slump, but pulling out of it bit by bit and am seeing my extra-base hits slowly rise. Not ready to move it just yet.

Nice! Babip is perfect, and your average is creeping up to MLB Pirates level.

Series opening loss at Philadelphia. Only 6 hits, but swinging the bat much better. Just hit it right at them tonight. Rotation turns over tomorrow!

Edit: just found out post-game that I lost Josh Harrison for 1-2 months with a broken ankle.

What to do? Pull up Meadows? Make a trade for 2B?

20 games in the books! I will be running some numbers and providing some of the stats that you don’t see in the spreadsheet such as league rankings and noteables.

In the meantime though I can talk about the feel of the sliders through 20.

Offensively I can definitely feel the challenge of using a middle-tier team (Pirates), vs a top-tier team (Red Sox). I definitely enjoy the challenge, but the lower overall hitters with smaller PCI’s and the introduction of patch 1.11 and 1.12 have created a new learning experience that I never thought I would need. I feel like I am coming around a bit and the hits are up, BA is up, and swings and misses are down (sorta).

From the hit-type perspective singles are currently running a little high and doubles down. While I am really curious what adding one tick of power might do, the fact that triples and home runs are about right make me not want to mess with the slider. I think I just need a few more squared up hits to swing the numbers a bit. I am keeping an eye on it though.

Too early to tell on the scoring hit-type percentages, but there is a decent spread. Home runs started out much higher but have spread out more over the last 10. Ultimately I would like to be between 30-35% for home runs, so not too far off.

Defensively, I am really happy how the CPU plays with these settings. They are POTENT if you make a mistake, as they should be. You don’t have to worry about the computer staying down for long. They will get their runs, but are not either home-run heavy or deficient, there is a good balance of scoring type plays. I am also quite happy with BABIP, foul ball percentages, and missed swing totals. Essentially I feel these play a really good game.

I do have a couple gripes. There are still a few (though tamed quite well) out of control CPU rallies. I also feel the wild pitches are a bit ridiculous but it does not appear much can be done on those. I just try to avoid these by taking a little off my breaking stuff some the don’t break “bad”. I still get plenty though.

Looking forward to finally moving forward on a season. I would not necessarily say that I get slider-itis but I have seen this game when it plays great, and I always tend to chase that experience. These feel to be in that ballpark, which makes the game a helluva lot of fun.

I’ll get those rankings as soon as the kid is done training dinosaurs!

Don’t you wish we could do like 5.5 slider for power? lol [emoji24] I played today before work. Won 7-5. I agree with you tho the batting average and hits per game feel great.

game 21 in the books and a nice win for Pittsburgh with a good variety of hits and scoring for both teams. First game without Josh Harrison and Meadows is up to the challenge as well as Rodriguez adopting his new role as 2B starter.

Just curious if you have considered raising Human Foul Frequency any. I see that it is around 14% foul ball rate, instead of up closer to the MLB 18% (i beleive that's right - been a while since ive looked into it).

What side-effects do you see, if any, from doing that? Not sure if you want to mess with it if you are getting good results everywhere else, but just wondering what you think. Ive had my Foul Frequency up very high to get foul rates up, but not sure if it ever created side effects i was never aware of.

                      Re: FenwayMac 2018 Legend Sliders

Sounds like a reasonable request to me.

There are some pretty entertaining websites about foul balls out there. From what I was able to gather, rates should be around 17.5%. HUM and CPU have touched that high occasionally, but are consists fly lower. I have happy to add a tick to each and watch for a few games ( and chart it) to see what happens. The stats are pretty consistent, which to me means that there is a lot of automation that add to these results. Let’s boost em up!

Not too concerned about the downstream effects of this slider. It may increase pitch cobut, which could wear on the pitcher a bit, but really one tick should not break the bank.

Thats exactly what i came up with when i looked up my research for last year and this year MLB foul frequency. 17.5%.

I have played at human 10 for a lot of games to see what it would do, and I'm a bit over 20%. Given the difference between yours at 3, getting 14%, and mine at 10 getting 20+%, i think am going to split the difference on the high side, and try the slider at 7 and track it for testing purposes and report back. Even at 10, CPU pitch counts were a bit lower than average (137 per game or so) so i think i am ok there.

Lots of good to report from Pittsburgh. The loss of Josh Harrison has opened the door for Sean Rodriguez, who is thriving in the two-hole. I moved Marie back to lead-off and he is also getting on base and just had a two-home run, four RBI game.

Other bats are awakening as well. Dickerson hits three doubles and Polanco a two-run double last game. Pitching staff finally put a full game together for my first shutout all season. Tides are turning!

By the way, I raised HUM foul balls to 5 and CPU to 8. You can see the results. CPU right in range and HUM a tad high. I expect the HUM foul balls will be a bit more variable due to zone hitting so I want to test it s few more games. If it stays high I will move it back to 4 and that should be perfect
