The other part of it is the fact that i have developed some sort of weird habit where i hit most balls in the air, which makes for easy outs. Its very irritating. Ive been trying to get out of that for quite some time because it lowers my babip too much. That is not the sliders fault, thats on me. Just trying to fix it somehow.

My hit type % are 60/26/2/12 % The only thing really missing is about one single per game to get those percentages right. (Again - hitting too many in the air)

Overall im loving the offense, besides my bad habit that i have to figure out soon or im going to lose it. Lol.

I made some adjustments to cpu CPU hitting/hum pitching to try to get more cpu misses and cut down on the ground ball singles which were happening at a 40% clip. It has helped a little but still lots of singles getting through the infield for some reason. But it has been a very small sample size.

Games have been a blast though, despite losing a lot lol.
I went through the same issue with hitting where I was either under or on top and results were pop ups and grounds. It truly is just a muscle memory thing that, when it is honed in, I try not to think about how I am doing it, because then it goes all out of whack again. The yips.

I have found that the extra bases without singles is all about raising power and lowering contact. It all depends on what your allowed batting average is at though.

My team has actually hit pretty decently with the exception of 3 players. Two of which i expect more out of. Deshields and Odor both hitting below .100. Keep in mind my small sample size, i am only about 10 games into my season so i am hesitant to move anything at all this quickly. But Odor was 2-for-35 if that tells you anything about his start. Deshields was 2-for-26 to start the season. They single handedly brought my team average and babip down significantly.

Yeah on the fly balls, its been plaguing all season, even in testing. Ive never had this problem before but im working on it.

Cpu average is over .300 but mostly singles. I dont know how they have so many ground balls get through, when my ground balls are more realistic. I may mess with power and see what happens but i want to give it more time

        Re: FenwayMac 2018 Legend Sliders

I just had my best game of my young season vs the Blue Jays, who always give me trouble, dating back to 16. Jumped out to a 3-1 lead, but it is hard to contain their power. They took the lead 4-3 in the 6th. They added another run in the 7th. I scored a run in the bottom of the 7th, then tied it up on the 8th. Deshields (2 for 26 to start the season) drove in a run and scored a run.

In the Bottom of the 9th, Gallo doubled. And with 1 out, Odor, (hitting .059 on the season, 2-for-36) hit a line drive to center to win the game in walk-off-fashion.

Odor smashed a line drive in his previous AB, that the RF caught on a dive. So maybe he is coming around.

Deshields (2 for 26 coming in) went 4-4 with 2 doubles and an RBI.

That game just felt good all around.

        Final line:
TEX 6R, 15H, 2E, 12 LOB (hey at least they got on!)
        TOR 5R, 7H, 0E, 4 LOB.

FenwayMac Legend Sliders went over 100 downloads! I was incredibly late to market due to wanting to really extensively test the set, so most people have gone on to others, but at the very least these sliders have been fairly well-received, which means that something must be right about them!

If you have yet to rate or provide feedback, defininitely feel free to do so as I will continue to work to improve where needed. Thanks!

Game 2 against Milwaukee is now posted. And I have tagged Lorenzo Cain as the second on my list of hybrid roster fanboy favorites. The guy is dynamite. Here is the story.

Now, nobody is proud of rage quitting. Probably nobody admits to it, but this game was played four times, FOUR, because the one thing that gets me upset is when glitchy shenanigans occur. I can accept bad play and bad luck, but some things that happen occasionally just are too much.

I give you the case of Lorenzo Cain’s four triple games.

Game #1 - With the game tied, Cain hits a standard fly to right...which is completely missed by Polanco as he takes an impossibly bad angle on the ball.

Game#2 - my personal favorite. With two outs and a runner on first, Cain hits a dribbler up towards second, where Rodriguez takes an even worse cut than Polanco and misses the ball, which then rolls past the a shocked Marte, who, by the time he gets it the runner on first is now at third. Cain inexplicably motors around 2nd and leaves himself a dead duck for the throw to third before the runner can score, except Marte’s throw pulls Freese off the bag. Runner scores. Cain wins!

Game 3 - pitcher leads off with an on base due to Lolly gagging throw to first by Frazier, Cain up next cranks a triple to right when Polanco got it and slammed into the wall and just hung out there until Cain motored past second.

Game 4- with a 4-2 lead and my closer in, pinch hitter walks (of course) and Cain comes up and smacks a triple that rolls past Marte all the way to the wall. As 8 throw it in Cain is rolling around second and ready to pass the lead runner, who is forced to run home. Cain later scored on a sac.

Oh yeah, an inning later he hit the game winning single too.

Just done with Milwaukee. I need a long home stand.

Sounds like you do need a long home stand. Or a break! Lol.

Speaking of breaks... i wont get to play any games until at least Sunday or Monday. I am already missing it. I will be depending on this thread to get my Show fix (hopefully i have internet reception) lol.

So in other news, I am seriously considering getting a monitor and getting off the tv. My kid uses that tv all the time and I need an extra work monitor anyways. Any advice on size/specs/ reasonable price?

Which Is The Best Roster Set To Use With Theses Great legend Sliders? ( I have Been Using Ridins Latest Draft Set )

Any Recommendations? And Which Ones Do You Use For Your Sliders Set?

                  Thanks!

thanks for giving the sliders a go! I appreciate it. Let me know if you have any questions.

I am using the hybrid sliders. I just chose them because they were the latest version out when I started my season and they had proper farm league players names. Hybrid rosters have been pretty well-received though!

                        FenwayMac,

Giving these a go. So far the CPU is smacking the leather off the ball lol. Do you use API?

If not, do you have any other pitching tips outside of what's listed on op?

Is API the catcher suggestion tool? If so I definitely do not use that. It is probably just me, but I don’t like playing into the computer hands by throwing what and where they suggest. I like to keep things unpredictable and give the CPU less chance to dictate the outcome.

So, I try to be as unpredictable as possible when I pitch. I keep to the edges mostly but throw one in occasionally if I feel it will catch them off guard. I also vary my pitch speeds to throw off hitter timing.

I will call mound visits if I feel it will disrupt the CPU rhythm. I will walk a guy intentionally. For pitch selection I tend to avoid throwing the same pitch at the same speed multiple times in a row. Sometimes I just even quickly pick a button at random then throw whatever pitch I chose (within reason).

It is a much-heated debate about comeback code and scripting. I lean towards scripting a bit if you allow it to happen. If you start to see a cpu “can’t miss” rally, then do everything you can to change the script.

Yes API is when the catcher call the pitches.

I'll try this. Do you only pitch to the blue areas in the hot/cold zones? In other words, if you're facing a batter who only has one blue zone (low outside corner), do you put all the pitches there? Or do you hit the red zones sometimes too?

Secondly, what's your strategy with pitches? For example, fastballs low and away, sliders breaking away from same handed hitters, changeups low outside corner, etc.

My main focus is usually low, both inside and away using breaking stuff. If I go with heat I usually go up it up an in or sometimes just straight inside. If I have a slider, running fastball or sweeping curve I always keep it outside. Main strategy is simply to pitch unpredictably.

I don’t focus too much on red/blue though with a 4.5 team ERA maybe I should a bit more!
