Re: Lack of Injuries in Franchise Mode

My injury slider is set at 7 and I've had two injuries. The first was an injury to Bellinger which I thought would be serious because he came straight out of the game after being hit on the hand. However he was ready to play again the next day. The second was to Taylor who is set to miss 1-6 days apparently.

Lack of Injuries in Franchise Mode

On my 25th game played last night at 10 inj slider I had a pregame injury to my RF. I would imagine the pregame inj scenarios are governed by the inj slider?

What I decided to do as a compliment is a table top approach similar to whats been discussed in other threads.

After every 5th game I roll for potential injuries for all players assuming everyone got some playing time over that stretch.

      Starting Pitchers = ((100 - durability rating) / 10) * 2

      Others = (100 - durability rating) / 10

Roll D100 with decimals. Several good websites for random rollers out there. https://rechneronline.de/random-numbers/

If <= above value an injury occurs.

Then I determine injury severity. For this, I recycled someone else’s great approach (KBLover) with minor adjustments.

      Roll D100

      0-60 DTD injury
61-80 Moderate. Out maximum 6 weeks
81-90 Severe. Out minimum 8 weeks
      91-100 Critical. Season ending

I used this approach once so far and it resulted in a reliever getting injured with a DTD strained oblique. I placed him on the 10 day DL and made a roster move which was gratifying.

I'm sure Ill tweak going forward but so far its adding that layer of realism I was missing to this point.

I like the table top ideas that have been discussed.

Im still kicking around the idea of using OOTP to simulate injuries. I just haven't had time to set it up yet.

          I play on Quick Counts.

Starting to think that may be a factor in that there are less overall “plays” where an injury could occur.

Is this an accurate assertion? Less injury chances on QK. More if you play every pitch?

I just got 18 last week, started a fresh franchise 30 team control default SCEA rosters and I have played 23 games and not a single in-game injury for either my team or the opponent with the inj slider at 10.

Plenty of sim injuries across the league.

Very strange. I play CPU vs CPU, which was my style last year on 17 where I used Bacon's fictional roster and had to turn injuries DOWN to 7 from 10 because of too many in-game injuries. Seemed like every slide resulted in an injury lol.

A bit frustrated with the lack of them in-game in 18. Makes me wonder if I have a setting wrong, but I've double checked my profiles, in fact recreated them off of the the 'experienced' profile, made sure injuries were 'on' for both profiles, and sim injuries are working fine across the league including my minor leagues.

Thankfully we have the ability to add/edit injuries manually, so I will likely resort to table-top mechanics to keep injuries a factor for my team until I can figure out why they aren't happening dynamically in-game.

I used the 2nd version he released with a modified version of Mike Lowe's sliders. With 10 Injury slider i get them all the time. I had 1 RP throw 1 pitch and get injured. So yes it works fine for me.
I turn it down to 6 for simming non user games

I don't understand why this can't be patched. Injuries are an enormous part of baseball and are severely lacking in the Show.

I agree. At the rate my team gets injuries (OSFM 2.0) Id never be able to call someone up or trade for a need. Really kind of kills it. Carry over rosters I hear see good amounts of injuries. I havent played with Hybrid rosters enough to know though. I really dont want to sim just to get injuries as I love actually playing.

NBA2k has a much more advanced injury model than MLB the Show but also has injury issues. I don't really get it. At least give us an option to have realistic injuries. Every team is going to have way over 15 DL trips a seaosn.

with my injury slider at 10 - and i'm still testing sliders in "play now" games - I have seen 2 user injuries. one was a pitcher following a pitch, and another for a fielder who slid into 2B. And those were within the last few days. so I guess I'll see if there's some carry over. but yes - injuries are aplenty in the MLB and definitely needed in franchise mode for realism / depth.

I have my slider on 8 and have seven players (Twins) and six Braves on the DL. About half of these injuries are 1-2 months with fractured bones and knee injuries. At one time I had to raid the free agent market for a cheap position player to stock my AA team.

How many were in game injuries. Sim injuries have never been the problem.

I'm back to 7..played first 2 months of Franchise at 9, then 8. Number of in game injuries were on spot with IRL I think but the only problem I found is mostly all injuries were results from using the jump/slide button on defense.

Maybe I should give it a try again at 8, my in-game injuries pretty low since then.

I am two months into my Yankee franchise (MoM) and I have yet to see a Yankee get injured during the game. I have some guys in the minors go down but not one either pre-game or during the game.

I see plenty of injuries with guys in games that are simmed with the slider setting at 8. Just done when I actually playing a game in MoM.

Alex Wood was just hit on the leg during the fifth inning of my game and he was taken out with a shin injury. He’ll miss a few days.

I just finished a season in manage mode playing every game and I had zero in game injuries on default sliders. I hate adjusting sliders but I guess since apparently this won't be patched I'll bump the injury slider.

In previous editions of the show this was not a problem.
