Because I like to have more control over the outcomes, I use meter pitching. I appreciate taking a hit because my timing is off some days, of dominating some games where I am just nailing the release. I also like how the release marker grows as the pitcher confidence goes up, and goes completely away if rattled. You also develop a sense for just early or late release to affect ball movement. Fun stuff.

Yep - and even then it's annoying sometimes. It's like "just how far do I have to aim to keep pitches out of the zone?!" lol

When I see that no starter eligible for the ERA title last season throw a physical strike more than 48% of the time, it's like - how the crap can I make that the consistent default behavior of this game.

To it's credit, the fact it can be made to come pretty close (my Zone % in MLB18 is currently 47% and CPU is at 45% across all games), when it's probably not, out of the box or in the code designed to care about Zone %, shows the quality of the game, even if it is pulling teeth sometimes.

      100%

This paragraph is the practical reality of modding this game to your preferences.

I completely agree. It amazes me when i look at my lines of stats that line up in line with MLB numbers (and if they differ its ususlly not by much). The more amazing thing is that statistics which i am positive never crossed the devs' minds look good also. I have found myself wondering about this more than once. Not sure if its that well designed, just luck, or if there are other (other worldly??? - cue spooky music -) factors at play here. Lol. In any case, i can overlook the few obvious issues the game might have on occasion, and just enjoy the game i dreamed about having as a kid.

When it comes to Zone %, what is your desired target # for human and cpu? I don't have stats in front of me at the moment, but going off memory it seems like you are very close as-is...actually i think even a little on low side now...?

Not sure if this thread is an appropriate place to head off into statistics-neverland...(?) so we can discuss here, or elsewhere, (Nomo's old thread?).. or not at all lol. Whatever you deem is appropriate.

Now that i have access to my spreadsheets again, I took a look at what i had. I know you, like myself, like to get everything as realistically close to MLB type numbers as possible so i wanted to make sure.

I have Zone % for last year in Real MLB at a league average of 48% for the whole year, not the league leader. Which is right where I am for both Human and CPU across all my games since last summer.

So maybe you don't have to aim as far out of the zone, or pull as many teeth as you thought! (If i am looking at something wrong please tell me, so i can start extracting molars again.)

I'll PM you. That's the best bet.

Classic pitching has forced me to try to learn how to pitch. Using A&S’s sliders and settings has been very fun and I find myself on mlb.com watching videos to wrap my head around stuff like Bill’s Blackboard: How Can Pitchers Attack Hitters and The Importance of Pitching Inside.

I like to use the meter. I've tried the others but always come back to using the meter.

Anybody on here use classic pitching on Legend? I’m torn between going up to 7 for control or staying at 6. 5 is absolutely too low.
