Because I like to have more control over the outcomes, I use meter pitching. I appreciate taking a hit because my timing is off some days, of dominating some games where I am just nailing the release. I also like how the release marker grows as the pitcher confidence goes up, and goes completely away if rattled. You also develop a sense for just early or late release to affect ball movement. Fun stuff.

Re: Which pitching interface is the most realistic one to use?
I am just too big of a baseball nerd for close enough, and i was never fully happy when examining the statistics and percentages throughout the season. So i have to get some human involvement and sliders in there to find the sweet spot that produces both the most realistic gameplay and statistics for both human and CPU.
When I see that no starter eligible for the ERA title last season throw a physical strike more than 48% of the time, it's like - how the crap can I make that the consistent default behavior of this game.
To it's credit, the fact it can be made to come pretty close (my Zone % in MLB18 is currently 47% and CPU is at 45% across all games), when it's probably not, out of the box or in the code designed to care about Zone %, shows the quality of the game, even if it is pulling teeth sometimes.

Yep - and even then it's annoying sometimes. It's like "just how far do I have to aim to keep pitches out of the zone?!" lol

When it comes to Zone %, what is your desired target # for human and cpu? I don't have stats in front of me at the moment, but going off memory it seems like you are very close as-is...actually i think even a little on low side now...?
Not sure if this thread is an appropriate place to head off into statistics-neverland...(?) so we can discuss here, or elsewhere, (Nomo's old thread?).. or not at all lol. Whatever you deem is appropriate.Comment

I have Zone % for last year in Real MLB at a league average of 48% for the whole year, not the league leader. Which is right where I am for both Human and CPU across all my games since last summer.
So maybe you don't have to aim as far out of the zone, or pull as many teeth as you thought! (If i am looking at something wrong please tell me, so i can start extracting molars again.)Comment

Classic pitching has forced me to try to learn how to pitch. Using A&S’s sliders and settings has been very fun and I find myself on mlb.com watching videos to wrap my head around stuff like Bill’s Blackboard: How Can Pitchers Attack Hitters and The Importance of Pitching Inside.Comment

I like to use the meter. I've tried the others but always come back to using the meter.Commissioner of the Donkey Punch Sports Leagues -,
