MLB 19 - Realistic pitch speed?
Does anyone know or have a way of finding out what the most realistic visual pitch speed would be? I'm guessing Legend with both pitch sliders all the way up, but not sure if that's too fast or not. I'm not really looking to make the game harder per say I'm just trying to play as accurate as possible.Tags: None -

I always max pitch speed out, feels the most realistic to me

I am personally using it at 8 for both fastball and offspeed on hall of fame hitting. It's quicker than last year on similar settings, but I figure I could adapt.Comment

Yeah, I've played a few games on legend with both pitch speeds maxed out. I'm getting used to it, but it sure is fast.Comment

Re: MLB 19 - Realistic pitch speed?
I posted this the last couple of years, now since 19 up the pitch speeds i would probably add 5-10 mph to it from the past explanation below.
This was based of of MLB THE SHOW 14-18.
At default pitch speed on all-star difficulty, a 90 mph fastball is about 80 mph visually. The slider system is a 10 point system (5 clicks above and below default) Each click represents about a 1.5mph+/- change in speed visually. HOF and Legend start 2-3 mph higher than default all star. I believe rookie and veteran start 2-3 mph lower than all star default.
So just from my experience over the years going back to 2011 until now.
All Star - Pitch Speeds for both - 7 gets it visually where it needs to be where 95 etc FB look visually correct.
Hall of Fame - Pitch Speeds for both - 8/9 gets it visually where it needs to be where 95 etc FB look visually correct.
Legend - Pitch Speeds for both - 10 maxed out since you can go beyond 10 gets it visually where it needs to be where 95 etc FB look visually correct.Last edited by Houston; 04-02-2019, 05:46 AM.Youtube: https://youtube.com/@mlbnetworkleagu..._hz5M86fl-FbW4

Re: MLB 19 - Realistic pitch speed?
Hey Houston,
Sorry for intrusion, but it says your personal message box is full and I couldn't think of any other way to contact you. Can you personal message me?
I've got a question on a comment you made a while back involving Online Franchise for MLB The Show 17 here:
"Many unaware but SDS doesn't have it set up right by default. You need to out AL on Left and NL on right or your playoff bracket will somehow up backwards once u do bake the playoffs."
My question is, by doing this wouldn't it force all NL teams to use the DH and AL teams to not? I ask because the Online League Settings for the DH Rule only allow for three options: ON/OFF/AUTO
Any clarification would be greatly appreciated, thanks!Comment

Legend at 10!! You'll get use to it after about 200 at bats.

Re: MLB 19 - Realistic pitch speed?
I've been using legend with max pitch speeds and plan on sticking with it. The pitch speeds and timing of the swing you get used to but the problem I'm now facing is I'm having a hard time judging the placement of the ball in and around the zone. I'm finding myself swinging at pitches that previously I never would've swung at. It's much harder to track the ball as it comes in because it comes in so fast and sometimes you just have to guess.Comment

I find that when I apply this type of approach to hitting in The Show, I have great success. It's when I'm anxious or trying to get through a game quickly that I struggle with hitting.

Re: MLB 19 - Realistic pitch speed?
Why?
I'm really liking legend as a whole and I'm digging the max pitch speeds. The more I try it the more I get used to it. Put it this way, this is my first year playing legend and I'll never drop back down to AS or HOF. It's so rewarding and frustrating at the same time. Whether you are pitching or hitting you have to be on your toes. You honestly have to pitch and swing as if you're in a real game, especially once you crank up the pitch speeds. Sliders create balance, and pitch speeds define difficulty, but legend itself adds and creates variety.Comment

Mainly because I use directional and classic. I feel Legend is not compatible with directional. Unless you have slider suggestions for directional! I’d be all for it

Re: MLB 19 - Realistic pitch speed?
Also, I'm in the process of building a slider set completely around the max pitch speeds of legend pitching / hitting. I'm fairly confident that I have it dialed in but I want to increase my sample size to make sure everything is fairly balanced. I've done a lot of testing and tweaking and played 10 or so games with my current settings and I'm seeing some good variety. I'll create a slider thread in a few days once I'm ready to release it.Comment
