    Your Slider Set Wants

    Happy 2019!

I apologize for the lack of updates lately. Truthfully I just jumped in to the game last Sunday and have been getting my feet wet with Diamond Dynasty. I have made it a goal to get more involved in the other modes of the game to keep it exciting, so while I will be playing franchise, I don’t intend to get burned out testing and retesting and testing again.

I do want to start a franchise soon though and I will be creating a set and am more than happy to start a thread and share my settings and provide feedback to question.

I plan on dedicating this weekend to really digging in (between card flipping sessions) and getting some good testing done. I really am hoping one set will do the trick and I will be off and running on my season.

Therefore I am reaching out for some feedback. If I were to create one set that will be of use to the greatest amount of you, what level should I calibrate?

My personal thoughts are HOF. Legend always felt a little suspect in regards to CPU miracle moments (wherever you stand on this issue) that really frustrated the experience. Plus from what I have heard, HOF has gained some more teeth over last year’s version.

I also feel that sliders are affected by the tier of team you are using. So last year I calibrated using the Pirates and then tried to apply those same settings to the Red Sox. It was really imbalanced though as the Red Sox were just too OP to have some of the boosts that the Pirates needed. So with this in mind should calibrate for a top-tier team or mid-tier? I prefer the challenge of pushing mediocre team to greatness but majority rules!

These will be created with zone hitting and meter pitching as my interfaces. I don’t have the desire to learn a new system and cannot speak to how the sliders will perform outside of these.

Give your thoughts! Nose to grindstone starting tonight!

    Re: Your Slider Set Wants

Hey, just an update. I had a good breakthrough with the HOF pitching settings and got a promising 10-game sample set that I think will do the trick.

While I was able to get the CPU in a good range with hit type percentage, I think my favorite part is the fly ball/line drive/ground ball ratio which worked out to 34/22/44% respectively, which is pretty dang close to actual MLB averages. Last year was so fly ball happy so this is great to see.

Switch over to offense now. If it calibrates quickly I should have a set posted real soon.

Looking forward to what you come up with. How was your strike % and first pitch strike % if you don’t mind sharing.

I think around high 60’s for overall and first pitch as well. I have contemplated dropping control another notch to get that a bit lower.

I loved using your slider set and kind of combining/averaging it with Armor’s set last year. Glad to see you back for another one!

I’ll be keeping an eye on this thread. I might be starting with AS difficulty for now with directional hitting and classic pitching, but my goal is to play most of my season using HoF difficulty.

Been playing armor & sword’s sliders since getting the game (been playing very good also pretty close to default settings). Haven’t played enough to make any big conclusions but there are 2 things I’m pretty confident might need to be tweaked.

1st is that for both me and the CPU there are too many fly balls vs ground balls. Real life ground ball rate is 44% and I haven’t even sniffed that in any game I’ve played.

2nd is lack of doubles/triples. Overall hits and HRs seem about right but hardly any doubles and a lot of balls hit so hard to the wall that the runner has to stop at first. The hit variability is pretty good so might have to be an adjustment to runner or fielder speed.

I agree. The first thing I saw was an alarming amount of singles and home runs but nothing in between. I believe I have that better distributed. The FB/GB/LD is definitely looking good.

Will do more hitting today, but I have to say that this seems pretty well balanced already. I have a couple tweaks I want to try this evening, but overall I think it should go quick! My biggest issue is I spent so much time on pitching that my hitting is rusty!

You can give us a hint on where your fielding sliders are. Haha 😂

I swear I am not being secretive!

Actually I believe I just lowered the fielding speed one tick as well as baserunner to balance. If you go too low you start to see an absurd amount of extra base hits.

If the CPU were not finding the gaps I would probably lower that down, but so far the gaps are there and the XB hits as well.

Are your pitching and fielding sliders comparable to your hall of fame 2018 sliders?

I had to look. It’s close but I was at 3 last year. It feels better tuned this year at 4 but I may may sneak in a few games at 3 to compare

Just out of curiosity has anybody had issues sneaking balls past infielders. It just seems that most fielders are gobbling up the gappers even with reaction at 4 and speed at three

                          Re: Your Slider Set Wants

Great news! After going down the deep, dark rabbit hole of sliders. I finally stumbled upon a combination that offers really great hitting variety and a decent challenge.

As it turned out, my settings crashed right into another one of our long-time contributors TNK! Just a tweak here and there and the next thing I knew we matched up on virtually all of the main offense settings, with a couple small differences. This is great because I am tired of testing!

Our pitching and CPU settings are quite different however, so I am excited to create a set for the vault and have it to you soon! I want to get a couple games in playing both sides of the ball to make any last tweaks.

                          Almost done!
