So after the game with a durability ratings of 67 he rolled a number of 27 which meant he got hurt during the game.

The next roll was to see the severity and he only rolled a 7 (whew). So it was deemed a 7-10 day injury.

So we gave him elbow tendinitis. Brea complained of a sore elbow following the game and an MRI was negative. He was diagnosed with a mild case of elbow tendonitis. So he went on the 10 day IL.

    Love this system!!!

In other Yankees news Aaron Judge is being benched for the next 4-5 games. He is right at the Mendoza line through 6 weeks of the 2021 season with 7 HR’s but he also leads the team in walks and K’s. Just a huge struggle after such a great season in 2020. He also signed a massive 6 year extension in July of 2020. The team says Aaron is completely healthy and just needs some time off to decompress and reset his mind.

I know I promised a big update.....I am going to hold off till we finish the month of May in Year 5 then give a really nice recap, player stats and storylines and rumors around the league as well as standings of course.

You can catch every game on Twitch either live or on replay as well where we talk a ton about the goings on with the Yankees and around the league.

I forget how do you force a injury to someone?

What’s up Vince! I think you have to go in the injury tab and turn it to manual then make the injury then turn it back to auto when you are done.

        Exactly.

Make sure you don’t forget after you assign the injury to go back and set your injuries to “on” again.

I am going to post a modified Injury Matrix for use with Bacon’s fictional rosters vs OSFM rosters.

I saw the Bacon uses lower durability ratings universally compared to the real life rosters we are used too.

I lost 2 players for the year rather easily......so we will be back with a better balanced scale for Bacon’s Fictional roster and it will go right below the matrix’s for modern day rosters.

Also.....I need to inform you fine folks I am not getting MLB 21 for either system on release....and it may be a long time if I get it at all. We are sticking with MLB 20 (as well as playing 17,18 and 19) on the PS5.

The check swing mechanic changing to pure user input just pisses me off even further (removal of Y2Y was the big deal breaker). We are a simulation ratings based gamer when it comes to the Show. The removed the discipline rating for user controlled players giving into the demands of online whiners.

That is horse **** in my book and another huge kick in the balls. Now their is no difference in hitters ability to check or not check. It is all on you. That means I can make Chris Davis as disciplined as Altuve....I mean really SDS? What horse ****.

Game is getting away from being a pure simulation to being a stick skill online game. It is happening and it sucks.

Oh well. It was a great run and we have 4 marvelous games to enjoy for years (17-20) with oodles of rosters and content.

          Peace everyone.

Maybe next year in 2022 they will have the brilliant idea to have every pitcher able to throw 100 mph if you push the button long enough.

Might as well just take all the ratings out.

I really don’t understand the point of bringing in something like different play styles (casual, simulation, competitive) if they can’t or don’t care to fully use it. The new check swing mechanic change seems like a pretty good situation to take advantage of their new play style settings feature. That change should be when playing on Competitive mode only. It should work the way it did before when playing on Simulation Mode.

The ‘3 different play style’s’ idea sounds good on paper but it seems it’s either impossible for now to use in a truly useful way, or EA and now SDS have both just failed to execute it properly.

If they can’t make certain non sim gameplay changes limited to the Competitive Play Style only, then the 3 different play styles feature is a waste of time and resources in my opinion.

I agree completely. This seems like this would be a perfect reason to have different styles. Hopefully enough people complain that they will change it on Simulation? But I doubt it.

Ask offline FIFA fans how much they would love to have separate play styles. That entire game is built around online and there is literally nothing one can do to fix some fundamental flaws that were introduced intentionally at the behest of the online players.

MLBTS has never gotten to be that bad; but it's been drifting slowly towards a game for competitive guys. This addition should stop the most egregious of changes from impacting us - and that alone means it's not a "waste of time".

The big key is to not accept the "simulation" style as merely the "same good ole MLBTS it has always been" but to also push to have things pushed back to where they previously were and to make it an even more simulation experience. The check swing thing is definitely one item, but I can think of others (adding HR/9 back into the calculations for hitting, bunting dynamics, etc.).

A MLBTS dev has a stickied post in the main forum asking if we have questions about hitting/pitching. Yet, only a handful of people have replied in an effort to even put the 'sim community' into focus. There's stuff brought up every year related to our community's needs for 'sim' gameplay...yet a developer comes on board and asks for feedback...it's crickets.

Just a question brother. Not a ps5 in sight for me. I’m still on the original ps4.

Is the ps4 pro worth the purchase as far as graphics go? I have thought about getting one. My ps4 is bound to bite the dust eventually. It’s been good as gold since 2013.

Well herein lies the problem. Things are drifting away despite the three game styles.

The game used to be focused solely on simulation. But we all know it is naive to think it will always stay that way with the massive boom in competitive online play....and now could that with a new console as well (XBOX).

I do agree with why is there no one really asking questions in the dev thread that is sticked about simulation mode play.

I have been able to engage devs in the past....and still try to.

                      But yeah.....crickets.

My ultimate hope is simulation mode implements ratings first and foremost and brings back discipline, as well a HR9.

But will it really? Are they even capable of doing that? I think it is a lot more complicated than we think under the hood and that certain things have an either or bottom line to it.

Y2Y for me is a real important feature for me to come back to the series on the new console.....unless gameplay simply takes such a leap (which I do not expect for years BTW) to inspire me to start over and stick with one title for several years if Y2Y never returns (a distinct possibility but never comes back).

Lot’s of unknowns with The Show series. But the great thing is we have several amazing titles from the series to keep playing. So I am not doom and gloom. I am grateful for what we have. And we have a so much.

Honestly what you'd pay for a PS4 Pro, id say keep grinding to find a PS5.

You'll certainly see a difference from PS4 to PS4 Pro, but it would be a much bigger leap for you from PS4 to PS5.

Unless you're clear cut not worried or interested in getting PS5 for the foreseeable future, then yea Pro is worth it if your PS4 is about to go. But you might regret getting a Pro and then all of sudden having the chance of snagging a 5.

Yes! They ARE! And that's my point! We need to step up and say "Yo guys! This isn't acceptable!". Will they listen? I don't know, but I definitely think there's a better chance of SDS listening to us than EA or 2k.

I don't think SDS simply saying "simulation mode is our norm" is enough. They need to take it a step further and bring back the things that have been lost while trying to keep the game a 'balanced' experience for everyone (and as good as 20 is, you and I both know that some minor tweaks can bring it much farther into the 'simulation' bracket). Let's be frank...they don't need to do all that much to reign things back in. But if they don't know that there's a demand for it...well, that's on us for not making it known.

I can promise one thing; come launch day, I'm going to begin compiling questions that I am sending to their feedback page. At the very least, I'll know that I TRIED to do something. For all the complaining about bullpen logic (as an example) in these forums...not a single mention of it in that thread? I know Victor is just collecting for a blog and we may not get answers...but if everyone on OS took the time they spend on one 'gripe post' and used it instead on asking a question, we'd be in a lot better place than we are right now.

                            End rant

100% man. I posed a simple question for Victor about check swings.

But yes we need as a community to start putting pressure on them to reel things back in for “simulation mode” moving forward(if it is even possible).

I didn't really have any questions for Victor though, and piling on with criticism (even stuff that is good) can be an issue.

I've moderated a few communities over the years, some of them quite large. The comment that one made me withdraw and take a break wasn't a particularly bad one, I had seen way way worse. In fact it was a reasonable, measured comment, just one that so happened to be negative. It was the sheer volume that got to me.

One of the issues of the internet is that without tone or facial expressions for context, criticism is subconsciously recieved in the worst possible light. There is only so much of that people can take, regardless of intention. That's why I try and pick my battles very, very carefully.

I take the same approach as well.

I think my question and concerns I posed on that thread were very valid and not abrasive.

But I agree about the internet. It is viral, and nasty. And it is sometimes hard to find valid constructive posts wading through all the garbage.
