Armor punted on MLBTS22 a few weeks ago - i don't think he's going back to it. I can't vouch for their sliders (don't use them), but S&B seems to have tested this game at length. I do however, trust their stamina and hook sliders, and here is their write up related to bullpen set up/usage: BTW, I've been using this bullpen set up for 7 games now in MLBTS22....I have to say, it's feeling good.

i[B]gdawg1690 shared his bullpen setup with us and we are using that for our franchise. It lets the AI use MRP guys in the middle innings instead of always their LRP. You have to do 30 man control and set lineups to manual. Otherwise, they will reset the spots. We have tested this and the AI will bring in their MRP guys in tied or close games in the 5th or 6th innings. They will even bring in their good RP when they are losing in a close game. Please feel free to ask us if you have any questions.

Put your 3 lowest rated RP pitchers that have less than 40 stamina in the 3 LRP spots.
Take out all the pitchers in the SU1 and SU2 spots.
Put your closer in the closer spot like normal.
Put your highest rated RP’s in the MRP spots.
I put the LRP pitcher in the MRP3 or MRP4 spot.

Thanks, Dowie for the reference. I just realized I need to correct it. Only put 2 pitchers in the LRP spot. I have the LRP3 spot empty. I can’t remember why or what made us remove the 3rd pitcher.

I believe the last bullpen setup Armour used for ‘20 was:

LRP 1 and LRP 2 - low rated relievers with stamina less than 40

MRP 1,2,3 - best rated middle relievers that aren’t closer or setup guy

MRP 4 - long reliever

SU1 - best reliever that’s not closer

CP - closer

Don’t want to speak for Armour but I think this is how he does it. Anyway, this is what I’m using and it seems to work pretty well

Also make sure to bump up the manager’s hook slider from 3 to 5 once the cpu brings in their first reliever

Armor I know you mentioned about bullpen logic in previous post but I can't find it. I am wondering if you are using 2 LRP's, 4 MRP's, 1 SU pitcher and a closer as in the show 22 or is bullpen setup normal. Any one feel free to answer. Thanks

I just don’t use a long relief pitcher in MLB 20.

Is the SU2 spot broken? Is SU1 broken too?
Do I need to edit stamina for most relievers to less than 40? Lots of relievers have stamina more than 40.

Yes, it’s just a game. But I want to set it up to make it as realistic as possible. Im going to have a hard time continuing to play without having this resolved

Lead and I will gladly follow.

What we use and what I believe Armor uses is 13 pitchers for other 29 teams. 2 LRP of MRP stamina less than 40. I put the lowest rated guys there. Your closer in the CP and best setup guy in SU1. Your other relievers are in the MRP spots. The 6th starter is in the MRP4 spot. For your own team, you can use whatever you want to use.

Thanks for your reply. That’s what I thought until I read Armour’s previous response, that he doesn’t use a long reliever in ‘20. I’m not sure what he means.

Yeah if you are asking about 20, then I don’t know if this setup would be necessary or would work like it does on 22.

Yes, ‘20 is what I am asking about. I punted ‘22 as well. I don’t know if the bullpen problems were there in ‘20 (ex. SU2 slot “broken”).

Leave LRP slot open. If there is a full pen, put a lower-rated RP in that slot, with a stamina in the 20s.

Start playing again.

If you want to use 8 relievers you need at least 1 pitcher in one of the LRP positions. Is the SU2 position broken in’20?

Right... put a pitcher with low stamina in the LRP spot in those cases.

SU2 is not broken - at least that I'm not aware of. You can always adjust those spots as you go.

Ok thanks. I just read somewhere that “the SU2 spot has been broken for years”.

This is what I’m doing for my bullpen setup for the other 29 teams:

LRP1 - lowest rated reliever with stamina in the 20’s

CP - closer

SU1 and 2 - best rated RHP and LHP reliever

MRP1,2,3,4 - remaining relievers rated highest to lowest.

Hope this is right and it works as close to realistic as possible!
