Re: Armor & Swords MLB The Show 20 Classic/Directional Clean Screen Simulation Slider
Maybe keep them at 9/9 and adjust your timing slider? I think I have mine at 6 just to compensate for my old eyes.
Just finished my first game with pitch speeds at 9/9 and was pleasantly surprised with myself. In a game using Bacon’s fictional rosters I beat the Mariners as the Royals 4-2. I didn’t hit the cover off the ball but I did have 10 hits (9 singles and 1 double) including a few bloopers and slow rollers that just snuck through the infield. Definitely need some work on recognizing pitches but I feel in time it will only get better. One thing I really like about higher pitch speeds is actually feeling the difference between a low 90mph fastball vs. a 97-100mph fastball. I use fisheye 2 batting cam but I may try some others to see if it helps.

Even at 9 it almost seemed lucky if I did get a hit, as I was practically swinging at almost every pitch. I was usually late on fastballs in the mid-90’s even in fastball counts and I was geared up for it. I could rarely put a few hits together or score multiple runs in an inning. And that’s not realistic either
With the pitch speeds at 8, I can still get blown away by 93+ fastballs if I’m not ready for it, but I can also pull them, and can generate some offence as well. I scored 4 runs in an inning on a single, walk, double and a Schwarber homerun. I can still strikeout too much, but I think that will correct itself with a bit more practice.
So congrats to those who can get realistic results on 10, but I simply can’t - at least not yet. But I’m very satisfied with the results and challenge I’m getting with them at 8 - so that’s where they will be when I start my franchises this weekend (c’mon BostonRob!!)Yankees modern day

Re: Armor & Swords MLB The Show 20 Classic/Directional Clean Screen Simulation Slider
Not a bad suggestion, but personally I don’t like moving away from Armour’s exact sliders with the possible exception of pitch speed (leads to a very BAD case of slider-iris). Normally I’m either at the same pitch speed, or one notch higher than Armour, but I can’t seem to handle pitch speeds at 10 like he and others can (but I think I’m 7 years older than him)

So I think I’ve settled on 9/8 for pitch speeds. I was just too late on breaking pitches in the zone that I feel I should have made better contact with. 9/8 played great.

Re: Armor & Swords MLB The Show 20 Classic/Directional Clean Screen Simulation Slider
Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the challenge of hitting a baseball and those tight, close games. But I also want the opportunity to “explode” occasionally and have those innings where 10 guys come to the plate and I score 7 runs. It’s already happened 2 or 3 times IRL this season. I had a few of those with the sliders at 6/5. I know I won’t have any of those with these sliders at 9 or 10. So maybe putting my sliders at 8/7 will hopefully be my sweet spot of the challenge I’m wanting but with the possibility of some high-scoring games as well.
I’ll let you know how my next game goes.Yankees modern day

And that’s with timing at 6, correct? I was actually thinking of trying 8/7 (timing staying at 5 as per Armour’s sliders) the next time I play to see how that plays.

Yes, timing at 6. But I may drop that back to 5. I had one of those rallies you mentioned in my last game. First 6 batters reached base and 10 batted in the inning scoring 6 runs. Nothing felt cheap or out of whack and I hit 2 solid doubles into the gap in left center. Feels great getting a solid hit with pitch speed that high. I also hit 3 homers in the game and won 8-5. One was a 461 foot bomb to right. Sat on a fastball in a 3-1 count and turned on it and crushed it. It was glorious.

Wow! Trea Turner just led off the game with a 384-foot homer. After being very late on a 100 mph heater, he got a hanging slider on a 2-2 count and pulled it over the left field wall
God I love this game!!Last edited by Burgess; 04-04-2023, 08:31 PM.Yankees modern day

A little progress update here. AL East has been finished. Added a couple prospects and rerated a majority of players. Most adjustments stayed within a couple points of their overall in original BR roster, and a lot of the adjustments were potential (Lot of guys that were C and D that should've been maybe B, Some A's and B's knocked down to C.
Biggest Rerates:
John Means – 88 to 81
Garrett Whitlock – 93 to 78
Bobby Dalbec – 64 to 74
Wandy Peralta – 85 to 67
Shane McClanahan – 86 to 95
Erik Swanson – 90 to 79
Tim Mayza – 82 to 72
Vladdy Jr – 93 to 87
Baseball: Chicago White Sox, Pittsburgh Pirates
Basketball: Chicago Bulls
Football: Chicago Bears
Hockey: Chicago Blackhawks

I took Bob's 1.5 version and am updating myself and rerating certain players. From what I understand Boston Rob final update will only have corrected 40 mans, but I'd rather have players rated the way I think they should be (and add in a couple of the big prospects) and correct the 40 myself on backend

Long story short I think I’m pretty comfortable starting my franchises with pitch speeds at 9/8 (timing at 5)
My favourite hit was sitting on a first pitch fastball and pulling a 99 mph fastball for a 427-foot homer. You are right - it is glorious!!Yankees modern day
