Their career stat will be very slightly influenced (but not much) by the current year you’re playing. But compare the 2020 season stats to each player’s career and their individual previous season. I bet the vast majority of guys that use classic pitching have 1 to 2 K’s less per 9 in the 2020 season. I could be wrong but I’d love to know.

    Here’s some of mine.

    2020 K/9 vs Career

    Lester 5.72/8.23
    Hendricks 5.40/7.58
    Darvish 8.72/11.08
    Quintana 4.29/7.82
    Chatwood 4.30/6.45
    Winkler 4.91/10.13
    Olson 10.13/9.09
    Kimbrel 9.64/14.56
    Wick 3.00/8.31
    Mills 7.94/10.57
    Tapera 9.00/8.49
    Jeffress 5.68/8.26
    Ryan 3.52/5.99

All but two pitcher have significantly lower K/9. What’s especially glaring is the starters.

I just pitched a complete game shutout with Lester and he had three strikeouts.

I want to help you my friend but I feel like you’re not taking my advice lol. I do a pretty good job of striking guys out because I’ve learned their release points. I rarely just tap or rumble when pitching.

Another thing is the starters Ks ratings are absolutely horrible in this game.

Yeah I hear you. It seems like when I try to throw a slider away to get them to chase it misses so far they aren’t even tempted.

Man that blue circle is an eyesore.

Not a game breaker, but I’ll be glad when it’s patched back out.

I had similar issues last year and just reverted to classic/pulse. I know it’s not the “all in” clean screen approach, and I won’t hijack this fantastic thread—it’s just what works for me.

I was getting far too frustrated with classic and completely clean screen.

Maybe I’ve missed your advice then. What do you mean by their release points? And are your K/9’s at least on par with your pitcher’s career stats? If you’re using the exact same setting and difficulty and you’re getting good numbers you have something figured out for sure. Because while I love classic pitching, if you’re doing it on Hall of Fame with no strike zone and no ball marker then I just don’t see how realistic strikeouts are possible.

I always follow Armour’s exact sliders. But I can’t do the clean screen approach. I need to see the swing results to help set up the cpu hitters and get reasonable k’s. I also try to listen to the catcher around 90% of the time for that sim feel. But I need to see the swing results - if a guy is late on a fastball, throw another one (but likely out of the strike zone depending on the count), if he’s early then throw off speed. Looks bad in a slider, throw one WAY out of the strike zone. It helps me anyway.

Do you play with the ball marker on?

No I don’t. I will be starting a Yankees franchise and a Reds franchise soon.

You haven’t started a franchise yet? I’ll be interested to see your individual K/9 numbers after 20 or so games. If you’re able to get them to replicate tea life numbers I’ll just have to tip my cap.

Well, I’ll be very interested to know where your pitcher’s K/9 numbers are after 20 or so games in franchise.

You can tell same info as Swing result just by watching the ball reaction and listening to commentary.

Hadn't played in a few days... installed the update, fired it up, and I'm a few drinks in and I thought I was going crazy seeing things with the blue circle... couldn't figure it out.

Read back a few pages and saw that it's due to the update and is being fixed..so I'm not crazy lol. Still awful for my OCD in the meantime. I cringe every time a ball is put in play
