I also tried timing at 4 and it just felt “off” for me. Maybe it was all in my head but I swear there was a split second delay in between the time I pressed x and when my player swung. I had to keep it at 5

When it comes to hitting sliders, the two settings I’d never change are contact and timing. Timing is the one that really takes away the natural feel of hitting. When hitting becomes too easy for me the first thing I do is raise pitch speeds and lower sold hits. That usually always works well.

How about HR's, does it reduce them too much?

I’ve hit 2 HRs last 2 games vs Detroit. All I’ve played is 2 games with the changes but I can already tell I’m keeping solid hits at 4.

I like what I'm seeing HR-wise through two games since I made the switch.

Are you still seeing good amount of “other” extra base hits?

Absolutely, to a point where I almost prefer them over a homerun. I hit my first triple of this year’s game with solid hits at 4 - a high flyball that hit the top of the wall. So far my favourite hit - I was down 5-4 with 2 out and runners on 1st and 2nd. I had Moustakas at the plate. On the 12th pitch of the at bat, I LACED a double down the line that scored both runners. I yelled so loud that my wife thought I was having a heart attack! Simply amazing

Through 2 games I’ve had every hit type possible. Bloopers. Line drives. Gappers. Poked over infielders heads dropping right infront of the outfielders. Seeing eye singles. I’ve been hit a 487 ft HR with Franmil Reyes to dead center.

Anyone else spiteful and hating playing against the Astros so bad you intentionally injured someone?

I put Altuve on the IR w/ a torn ACL just because.

Solid hits at 4 definitely feels better though. Seeing hits and drives wasn't seeing at 5. Also hitting a HR feels more earned when it happens.

I agree with most in this thread. Solid hits @ 4, drastically changes the game.... for the better. Much better hit variety. Trajectories and exit velo, are much more realistic.

So I finished the month of May last night in my Braves franchise. I'm sitting at 37-23 with a 2 game lead in the division.

                            I rank 26 in average at 246
                            8th in doubles
                            8 in triples
                            2nd in HR
                            9th in runs scored
                            20 in BB
                            7 in RBI

                            Pitching
                            3rd in Era
                            5 in runs allowed
                            17 in strikeouts
                            3rd in Hr allowed

I'm am pretty much locked in with my sliders. And my stats so far look good to me. I'm interested in how this goes for everyone with moving solid hits down a pitching sliders up 1.

For me I have no reason to move solid hits as for I can't hit for average and I'm not seeing a ton of cpu offense. And with my pitching so good I think it would make me better of I bump those sliders up.

If I try one it will be the solid hits if the hit variety is so much better. I'm just seeing amazing hit variety on default.

But like Armor says if the game is feeling awesome for you keep it as is. Which I will do for one more month. I absolutely love this game.

Lowering solid hits will actually improve the offense a fair bit - but in a far more diverse manner. That's the (understandable) mis-conception people have, that lowering SH depresses the offense. The issue with the game isn't so much exit velo, it's that the purity of bat-to-ball contact is consistently too good; resulting in a lot of very hard hit balls right to fielders. This change really shakes things loose by changing launch angles and trajectories; allowing every rating to really stand out.

I thought the hit variety was good at default for a long while as well. It's better than most years but once you flip the switch and drop it to 4, it's like "Oh crap, what was I thinking leaving it at default so long?".

                                Version 2.5 is now official.
                                What changed?

HUM/CPU Solid Hits now at 4

Version 3.0 is being tested (HUM and CPU Pitch Consistency to 6 is what we are getting a real feel for).
