    Timing slider question

Hypothetically speaking, if you lower the timing slider will that result in less balls being hit down the lines? The reason I’m asking that is because if the timing window is smaller, wouldn’t that naturally result in more hits to left center, center, and right center since you’re taking away the edges of the timing window if you’re lowering it a notch?

Hopefully that question makes sense. It made sense in my head [emoji23]

The reason why I’m asking is when I lower timing to 4 it seems my hits that are down the lines are bloopers. At 5 though they seem more of a line drive type.

The higher the timing slider, the more balls hit to center. Lowering would result in more hits down the lines.

      Re: Timing slider question

This is from a 2014 thread. I don't know who the author was, and I don't take credit for it. I saved this to exel word back in 2015.

------- Timing: Affects batters sensitivity to changes in pitch speed. If you are early or late in your swing, this option affects how much contact you will make on that swing, as well as where it goes. This works a lot like the Contact slider, just for time instead of location. This slider affects how big the "perfect timing" window is, and affects how much leeway you have on swinging late or early.

Your timing, by nature of the hitting system, affects the type of contact you get. As such, this slider affects your hit totals, HR totals, and fly ball/ground ball/line drive rates.

Increasing ONLY this option will reduce missed swings due to being early on a breaking ball, or late on a fastball, (or the reverse). Increasing ONLY this option will increase the number of balls hit directly up the middle. It will also increase batting averages.

If the game tells you that you are late/early too frequently, OR you are constantly hitting the ball off the end of the bat, OR getting jammed, due to poor timing, (or if this isn't happening enough) this is the option to change. If your pulled and opposite-field hits generally seem to be weak (but your hits up the middle are not), this is the option to change. For the AI, this setting also affects ability to recognize pitch speed, and thus, affects the number of missed swings per-game.

This is actually one of the easier sliders to adjust... too high and it’s a laser show in Las Vegas but to low and it looks like most batters are trying for swinging bunts... I set mine in my sliders at “2” which seems low but consider how hard it is to barrel major league pitching!? With contact at 3 and power at 6 + timing of 2 you’ll love the variety it brings... not every game is 10+ hits for either team... check these out and see how they play:
