    Human Pitching Sliders

I've searched this forum but need some assistance. I play on HOF+ difficulty and get really good games other than my not walking any opposing batters which is pretty unrealistic. I very rarely get to a 3 ball count unless I aim really far off the plate and even that sometimes drops back into the strike zone.

I've played with the Human Control and Human Consistency sliders, yet I cannot find a groove where my pitchers will miss the strike zone. If I throw 85 pitches with my starter I usually average around 15 balls and 70 strikes, an insane ratio.

Does anyone have any input on which sliders to adjust? I have the above both at 2 right now and just strike out everyone.

If you haven't done so already, try turning off controller vibration and the pitch marker. It makes pitching much more of a "feel" exercise versus relying on more 'gamey' feedback mechanisms.
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

I have all markers turned off (strike zone, hot/cold, pitch marker) other than the vibration, that is a good idea which I'll do next.

We are on legend pitching and use 0 control and 3 consistency for human pitching. Allows for times that a pitcher just can't hit the zone no matter what if he's off his game. And really shows when you pitch with guys with a low bb/9 rating. I'm still 1st in least walks issued but only by like 5 walks. Every year this game is like this. You have to pretty much force yourself to issue walks on default settings. Try lowering control/consistency to 0/3 or even 0/2 since you're not using QC and on a lower level and I promise you will issue walks. Your first pitch strike percentages will also be closer to MLB average (57%), but still above that.

          Re: Human Pitching Sliders

Have you considered throwing more balls off the plate? I understand wanting 0-1 and 0-2 but after that it’s simple strategy to throw a pitch or three off the plate at that point.

Another factor here is that clearly you’re not fearing the AI hitters at all, so a bump to those sliders (or a bump in difficulty) may be in order. You should be getting smacked around like crazy if you’re throwing 75% strikes every game.

Lastly I’d just like to make clear when I say “throw more balls” I don’t mean waste pitches, I just mean off-speed stuff that ends up just off the zone or sinkers that drop out of the zone, etc. Those are usually 50/50 type pitches with respect to how accurate you can be with them, you should be throwing them almost always when you’ve got a pitcher’s count, and plenty of them will be balls.

          Happy gaming.
          Just one man’s opinion.
I don’t actually care about any of this.

In theory that would work. But the cpu is and has always been so swing happy. Pitching just off the plate usually means more fouled off pitches than actual balls in my experience. Very rare to issue a walk from a ball four just off the plate. Especially on 3-2 counts. I don't know a single person who's ever played this game that wasn't at least top 5, most likely #1 in least issued walks no matter the team they're using IF they're playing every game.

Yes, I absolutely use the strategy of "wasting pitches", the CPU still swings and chases a lot of them and strikes out. I have the CPU batting sliders bumped up and they do hit a ton of the mistakes the are over the plate, I never said that I don't get hit, only that I do not issue walks.

Lowering the control/consistency to 0/2 has completely changed the game for me. I issued three walks in my last game, a 6-5 loss that felt much more realistic from that standpoint.

                This is what I needed!!!

Great suggestion, I am using the 0/2 sliders and it feels amazing with NO vibration.

I played two games with these and issued 5 walks between the 2 games. My balls to strikes ratio is completely more realistic, especially with the lower rated BB/9 pitchers.

I issued 1 walk with Gerrit Cole which is pretty much on par and 3 with Jordan Montgomery, also pretty much on par and 1 with Chad Green.

Awesome! Glad to hear and happy I could help. It took us a long time to figure out a setting that would create a good balance of strike percentages, walks issued, and cpu offense dangerous but not too overwhelming. Maybe one of these years SDS will figure a way to get the cpu to have a better approach at the plate instead of hacking away at everything. I doubt it though lol

May I just ask what you have the CPU Hitting sliders set to? I'm trying to find a balance as they are walloping me on pitches that cross the plate, I'm just trying to find some balance.

Just check out the slider thread. We are on legend pitching however so some settings may look weird but they work really well altogether. Feel free to ask any questions there and Bryan or I or others using them could help out.
