Stamina and Hook and Sim?
Do Pitcher Stamina and CPU Hook sliders still effect simmed games as they seemed to in previous years?Texas Rangers/Chicago Cubs

Re: Stamina and Hook and Sim?
I cannot remember off the top of my head who on this forum figured out the formula this year, but if you sim with both HUM and CPU SP staminas at a low value and jack up hook, you should see what you're looking for.
For my sim'd CPU v. CPU games: I use 2 for both HUM and CPU SP stamina, paired with 10 hookNow Playing

Re: Stamina and Hook and Sim?
We have SP stamina at 0 and hook at 7 for simmed games. Works like a charm. What raider is saying will probably work too. Just simulate a couple seasons with some values and check CG numbers.

Re: Stamina and Hook and Sim?
I am not a fun of having to load different sliders every time I sim vs play a game, so I am looking for the best compromise value. Stamina 5/Hook 8 seems to see the IP leaders similar to the 2021 season; the CG are still way to high, but at least the league leader(s) most of the time only have 3-4.
I am curious, though, whether the excessive number of complete games and innings pitched primarily due to the default hook and endurance settings being off in the sim engine, or something else (i.e. not enough pitchers getting injured, or pitcher ERAs being too low in simulation, etc.)?Texas Rangers/Chicago Cubs

Re: Stamina and Hook and Sim?
I've tested this extensively.
Hook is more impactful than stamina. Both sliders directly impact:
- Batting averages
- Innings Pitched
- Strikeouts
- Complete Games
- Shutouts
High Hook and low stamina leads to:
(+) Batting Averages
(--) Strikeouts/IP/CG/Shutouts
High Stamina and Low Hook do the opposite.
It's pick-your-poison at this point. If you get most pitching stats where want them (low CG, low shutouts, good IPs) you'll have to contend with laughably low strikeouts (one or two players over 200 Ks). But at the same time you get 15-20 guys hitting over .300.
If you say screw it to CG/Shutouts you'll get laughably low batting averages (4-8 over .300) but you'll get 10-15 over 200 Ks with some getting close to 250 Ks (real MLB has 15-20 players).
Overall though Ks are way lower than they should be no matter what you do.Comment
