    Re: S & B’s Directional/Classic MLB 23 Sliders

Work 3rd shift, so I'm still wide awake on my nights off. Testing is going strong. Just wanted to update quickly. We have settled into a setting, and I am collecting data.

    Cpu hitting:

    Contact- 7 (Locked in!)
    Power- 8 (Testing)
    Timing- 5 (Testing)
    Foul frequency- 5

Raising power has given us more homeruns by the cpu but still quite low. It'ssuper frustrating cause we've always had too many homerunsat default in past years. We are still testing power at 8 to see how it all looks after a large number of games.

A few other random slider changes:

    Pitcher control/consistency (hum)- 4/2
    Steal frequency- 3
    Fielder reaction- 5

Please use these with us and provide feedback if you'd like. Thanks to everyone who chimes in and supports!

Plenty. Probably too many bloops but hard to say cause we aren't tracking that stuff.

THE NEGRO LEAGUE STORYLINE IS AMAZING.
I can't understand why they didn't make it a playable mode. I don't understand SDS and the moves they make.

If they ever do Negro League teams and seasons I am all in.

The Sliders work well in that mode too.
I've only played the first moment with Satchel but the stories are incredible. The guy who tells the stories is awesome as well.

I am also back. Used your Sliders last year and had a lot of fun, so trying to provide some feedback. I am no expert in MLB data, so you can decide, if these numbers sound good.

        Home opener: CLE@SEA 2-4 (H: 7-12 E:1-4)
        SO: 8-9

I was playing Seattle, had 3 HR, (all perfect perfect). Hit variety was there, but mainly for CPU, they had 2 2B. A lot of grounders led to singles. Main problem, with IE on 8, 5 Errors is too much, and it was not under pressure. Very easy throws. Also the catching felt off several times. Saw 3-4 situations that where almost leading to singles, very poor defending.

Summary: very nice, intense game, CPU hitting felt nice, too many HR for me, but I will test more. Errors are to high for my taste.

What do you mean, catching felt off? The throwing errors will settle down over time trust me. It's very weird cause it did the same last year. When you first raise it you'll see a bunch. Then it's like it settles in, idk how else to explain it lol. I have it at 10 now and haven't seen a throwing error in a while. Can't remember the last one tbh.

          Thank you for the feedback!

Got it! Then I will continue using them on 8. Playing more tomorrow

Ah, English is not my first language. Like when 1B, 2B or SS were trying to catch the grounders, they had a hard time controlling them, but that could be the same problem as the throwing errors. Or is that supposed to be like that?

In my testing the past two days I probably have played 10-15 games and I have only seen one throwing error by an infielder.

We have Infield Fielding Errors at 0. We have been seeing the same thing we seen in 22 where the infielders would dive for the ball and they would just deflect the ball and go for an infield hit. We noticed also with reaction at 5 you are seeing more web gem plays by the good infielders.

There is a problem I see too often where the infielder dives too soon, so the ball deflects off their body and a base hit is allowed. I have fielding errors at 0 myself but it doesn't make a difference as far as I can tell. It's frustrating cause then next play they time their dive and make a great play.

Wait, isn´t infield fielding errors at 6 in OP?

First time caller, as I have traditionally been an A&S subscriber..

Gave these a go yesterday for a couple games and it felt really good. Admittedly I was quite skeptical to see the HUM control and consistency so low, but it actually felt alright, and was frustrating not being able to throw strikes at times.

Two things I am out to lunch on still, are injuries and SP stamina. I am thinking injuries (for me) may come down a click or possibly two--and SP stamina up to a 6.

Strider was gassed in the 5th on only like 70ish pitches.

Overall though, good feel and I look forward to playing more tonight!

Thanks for trying out our sliders. They are still work in progress. Glad you had a good couple of games. I think the control and consistency has to be down since we are on Allstar. It should sometimes have to be hard to throw strikes.

The stamina slider might have to be 7 or 8. I have always went by what someone said on year that they should tire at about 10 pitches over their stamina rating. Meaning a 82 stamina should be able to throw 92 pitches before tiring. At 5 or 6 you would see yellow at about 5 pitches under their rating. Stamina at 8 was about even with the rating. If you pitch with QC on you can throw 120 pitches before he gets in the yellow with stamina at 5.

We haven’t really tested or looked at injuries yet. I Abe always kind of did what Armor has always did and have injuries at 8 or 10. Last year we had it on 10 and we seen a good amount. They seemed to come in bunches.

We appreciate your feedback and hope you enjoy them. Let us know if you think something needs looked at.

I played a couple of games just earlier and tried control and consistency at 5/5 just to see how it went. I threw 70% first pitch strikes and 79% strikes overall. It's no fun for us, so that's why we don't even try it and lower it as soon as we begin testing things. We test it until we're seeing around a realistic 60-65% strikes and only way that's possible is lower them. Especially consistency.

Thanks for giving these a shot. We know we are way outside the box on a lot of stuff but we collect data and take it pretty seriously on what we want to see. We aren't adjusting stuff for no reason lol. I wish straight default worked OTB but it just doesn't. At least not for the playstyle we play.

What we see using the sliders on the OP is the batting averages are a little too high. But it might settle down a little bit. Right now, we are testing something. I want to lock these down tonight.

I’m just ready to play and have fun. All week I have been staying up til 2:30 am playing and waking up wt 6:30 for work. I had a chance to play a little bit this afternoon. My wife and kid was gone so I took a longer lunch to go home and play. So we are working hard on this. Lol

I have done like the first 5 Satchel Paige challenges.
Very educational and entertaining. I have also done the first 2 Hilton Smith moments also.

I will definitely be working on finishing all of them for every player.

I am also an A&S convert, I skipped the Show 21 and 22 because I was having so much fun with my Bacon Roster, A&S sliders in the Show 20. So far I'm enjoying what I've seen with 23 and love how in depth you guys get with your sliders. BTW have you abandoned quick counts at this point or are you still testing? I look forward to seeing the final results.
