Re: S & B’s Directional/Classic MLB 23 Sliders
I must say, I have given these sliders a shake for a reasonable sample size (41 games into a franchise, and I’ve played every game, albeit with fast forwarding through a few innings here and there), and these sliders are wonderful. At first I legit struggled, and started my Mariners franchise struggling. After a 2-6 start I’ve rattled off a great streak at 32-9, but there have been some real close games in there, and also domination when I play against really poor teams.
I have started figuring out the timing etc, and am now hitting over .300 as a team and +.500 slugging. I’ve had to move a lot of players around, especially defensively, as if you aren’t careful the cpu can manhandle you.
I’ve been doing it on all star, but do have my dynamic difficulty saved to Allstar+ from an earlier franchise I had set. Would you guys recommend moving up to all star + first or bumping up pitch speeds? I’ve thought of going straight to HOF, but I do have a great team that should be doing well.
Thanks for the work guys. I’ve done seasons before by simming quite a few games till the playoofs( the start game x + 5 method is the best I’ve done so far), but legit may be able to do my first 162 game season ever with the fun I’m having.Comment

Re: S & B’s Directional/Classic MLB 23 Sliders
Will do! When I first got back onto MLB the Show after taking a couple of years off, I did a franchise with TrueSim Rosters and sliders, and those had pitch speeds at 10, albeit I think the game still felt “easier” on them than these initially, even on HOF. I appreciate the work those guys did, but I really was looking more for sliders than rosters, and after much perusing this one “feels” the best, or at least more realistic. I wish my infielders had more throwing velocity, at least visually, but I completely understand the reasoning.
I’ll give pitch speeds +1 a try, and will gradually continue to up that as I grow accustomed until I hit 10. I’m a bit away from that with these sliders, as it would take a bit to get used to the timing.
Embracing 162 games w/ quick counts, and will fight through the various slumps I will no doubt have. In the grand scheme of things, the essence of baseball leads to more variety and role playing possibilities than other sports games, especially with developing long term talent. I aim to do 162 for the first season, and seeing where I’ll go from there, w/ possibility then switching to the method where you play SP 1, then SP2 2 etc after simming 5 games.
I will say, I had to quickly learn to not pitch up in the zone, and love the fact that even lower tier hitters every once in a while just slam one out of there. I did adjust baserunning a bit(steals), as I felt starting at a late count negates some of the advantages that great base runners have on early stolen bases.
I’ll also say this- I know it’s cheesing the CPU w/trades, but Corbin Carroll might be the best player on this roster once you get the hang of his swing. Can’t wait to see what he’s doing for me in Year 2.Comment

Re: S & B’s Directional/Classic MLB 23 Sliders
For some reason( perhaps because it was in spring training) it’s not showing up I. My transactions. But glancing at their current roster, it was a mix of Jarred Kelenic, a young pitching prospect, and another top tier prospect. That doesn’t seem like enough but it was some mixture of that.
He’s a fantastic hitter immediately, with serious power to the right pull side. Also has top tier speed and is a decent enough fielder that I move him all around the field when needed.
Fantastic game and sliders indeed. Gave the pitching speed a try, and will keep pushing it up a little at a time( gonna go straight to +2).
I am running with all display options on off, including pitches, batting tendencies etc. I do run a chevron fade on pitching bc otherwise I get PUNISHED if I don’t remember my pitches lol.
Now if only we could remove the dreaded blue circle….Comment

Will do. I’ve been using auto fielding, but will add auto throwing to it as well to augment the game. Much appreciatedComment

For the longest time, I would actually not notice because I would still push the button by habit. But now with auto throwing...you can double the CPU off on hard line drives because the infielder will make a quick throw. A throw they couldn't make fast enough with manual throwing.Follow me on Twitch

Re: S & B’s Directional/Classic MLB 23 Sliders
Feedback:
These sliders work much better for Current Gen. Not to say that they did not work for Xbox One because they did. The Series X game is simply a much better game than the Xbox One version is. The Series X not only has better graphics but the REACTION TIME is much better. This makes hitting a LOT easier on the current gen as well as making the gameplay much more fluid.
Hitting on the X box one is a LOT HARDER than on current gen in my opinion.
The better reactions on the Series X gives you a quicker swing which makes all the difference in the world.
There a TON of different animations on Current Gen that are not on last Gen.
Everything is spot on perfect with these sliders. The timing the speed everything flows seamlessly into each other.
I like looking at the Demo games that load up from the main menu sometimes.
Once you increase the CPU hitting you got yourself a serious simulation.
The Xbox One version is really just 75% of the actual game. It is amazing playing the Series X version.
Everyone has there own opinion on this subject and this is just what I think about it.Comment

I switched it off, took off the bandaid with the chevron fade and now have no pitching indicators at all. Went all broadcast on pitching/fielding/offense, with fisheye 2 for hitting. Having no indicators for even things like pitcher confidence certainly add more tense moments, and I found myself doing mound visits just to check it out. Sometimes I miss knowing what pitches the opponent has quickly, but I just go the old way by scouting first now.
Honestly auto throwing will not only look better but also probably help me lol, while still staying true to fielding ratings.Comment

Re: S & B’s Directional/Classic MLB 23 Sliders
Slider feedback:
One thing I noticed was that both me and the CPU were easily getting over 10 hits a game. The hit numbers were consistently very high. So I reduced the contact slider by one for both me and the CPU. The hits have reduced to a more realistic level for both teams.
I don't know if anyone else experienced that during their gameplay.Comment

Re: S & B’s Directional/Classic MLB 23 Sliders
Are you guys getting realistic complete games with manager hook at 7 when simming? I’m still seeing way too many even at 8Comment
