    Re: TNK MLB 23 SLIDERS

Starting a game right now using the updated set in post #1 of the thread

Going to face a tougher opponent (Atlanta) and throw #1 pitchers (Chris Sale vs Max Fried)

If this game plays well....I am starting to feel confident that the sliders are ready to begin a Franchise

      Hey TNK,

I might be coming over to your set as Armor isn't planning on a set for this years game. I got a couple questions. Are you seeing a good amount of HRs on both sides of the ball and is the CPU making it a challenge for you? I plugged in Armors 22 set for 23 and I feel like I'm always in control of the game and im not seeing much for HRs. So far I've played a series against Miami with the Mets and I feel like I'm dominating them.

            TNK - SLIDER TESTING
            Game #5 - Exhibition Game

Boston Red Sox @ Atlanta Braves
Pitching Matchup – Chris Sale vs Max Fried

The Braves opened the scoring in the bottom of the 1st as Chris Sale hung a slider to Matt Olson who absolutely crushed it for a 433 foot solo HR to RF giving Atlanta a 1-0 lead. Sale bounced back nicely as he recorded back to back Ks of Austin Riley and Marcell Ozuna to end the inning. The Red Sox answered in the top of the 2nd as Masataka Yoshida worked a lead off walk and Adam Duvall followed with a rocket over the head of Ozuna in LF for a RBI double. Christian Arroyo drew a 1 out walk but Fried would retire Connor Wong and Kike Hernandez to get out of the inning. Ozzie Albies singled with 1 out in the bottom of the 2nd but Sale got Sean Murphy to bounce into an inning ending 5-6-3 double play and the score was tied 1-1 after 2 innings. The Red Sox took the lead in the top of the 3rd when Fried recorded two quick outs before Justin Turner got a fastball low and inside that he was able to turn on and hit a towering fly ball to LF that carried over the wall into the Sox bullpen for a solo HR giving Boston a 2-1 lead. Sale recorded his 4th K of the game striking out Olson to end the bottom of the 3rd and send the game to the 4th inning with Boston leading 2-1. The Braves were threatening in the bottom of the 4th after Ozuna doubled to put runners 2nd & 3rd base with nobody out but Sale would bear down and work his way out of the inning as Harris bounced back to the mound for the 1st out before Albies struck out for the 2nd out and Sale would get Murphy to fly out to Duvall in CF as Atlanta strands a pair in scoring position and the game would move to the 5th inning with the Red Sox leading 2-1. Sale escaped another jam in the bottom of the 5th as Travis d'Arnaud and Vaughn Grissom led off with back to back singles before Sale struck out Ronald Acuna Jr for the 1st out and then hit Matt Olson with a pitch to load the bases for Austin Riley with 1 out. Sale would make a great pitch to Riley getting him to hit a changeup ont he ground to Arroyo to start a huge 4-6-3 inning ending double play as Atlanta leaves the bases loaded and the Red Sox had a 2-1 lead after 5 innings. Fried struck out Triston Casas to end a 1-2-3 top of the 6th and Sale began the bottom of the 6th by striking out Ozuna before Michael Harris hit a line down the LF line for a 1 out double. Ozzie Albie was up next and stayed back on a changeup from Sale and drove it into the RF corner for a RBI double to tie the score 2-2. Sale came back with a huge strikeout of Murphy on a nasty slider for his 8th K of the night and d'Arnaud would ground out to Hernandez at SS stranding Albies in scoring position and sending the game to the 7th inning tied 2-2. Collin McHugh took over on the mound for Atlanta and pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 7th while Sale retired Grissom and Acuna to begin the bottom of the 7th before Olson lined a ball into CF for a single to put the go ahead run on base with 2 outs and Austin Riley coming to the plate for a big at bat. Alex Cora went to the bullpen as Ryan Brasier came on to take over for Sale who was at 99 pitches and running out of gas and the move paid off as Brasier needed just 3 pitches to strikeout Riley who couldn't check his swing on a filthy slider away and we would head to the 8th inning with the score tied 2-2. Dylan Lee was on to pitch the top of the 8th for Atlanta and issued a lead off walk to Alex Verdugo but got a huge K of Devers for the 1st out. Justin Turner was up next and got a fastball over the plate from lee and drove it on a line into the gap in right-center for a RBI double as Verdugo raced all the way around from first base with the go ahead run giving Boston a 3-2 lead. Masataka Yoshida followed with an infield single to put runners on the corners and Adam Duvall would drive a fastball away on a line into the RF corner for a RBI double to make it 4-2 and knock Lee out of the game as Kirby Yates came on to face Casas with runners on 2nd & 3rd and 1 out as the Red Sox look to blow this game wide open. Casas jumped on a first pitch fastball from Yates and lined it into LF for a RBI single scoring Yoshida to make it 5-2 but Yates would get Arroyo to pop up on the infield 2nd out and Connor Wong ripped a ball to LF for what looked like extra bases off the bat but Ozuna would make a nice running catch to end the frame and keep the Braves within striking distance as the Red Sox lead was 5-2 heading to the bottom of the 8th. Chris Martin came on to pitch the bottom of the 8th for Boston and retired Ozuna for the 1st out before leaving a fastball up in the zone to Michael Harris who belted a solo HR to RF cutting the deficit to 5-3. Martin struck out Albies for a big 2nd out but Murphy would single to bring the tying run to the plate with 2 outs and Travis d'Arnaud drove the ball high and deep to right-center ending Verdugo back to the warning track where he would make the catch right in front of the wall for the 3rd out to send the game to the 9th inning with Boston leading 3-2. Lucas Luetge retired the first two batters in the top of the 9th before Rafael Devers launched a rocket into the RF stands to extend the lead to 6-3. Kenley Jansen was on to pitch the bottom of the 9th for Boston with Grissom, Acuna and Olson due up for the Braves. Jansen recorded two quick Ks of Grissom and Acuna and the Braves were down to their final out with Olson coming up and Jansen would get Olson to fly out to Yoshida in LF for the final out as the Red Sox beat the Braves 6-3

I leave it right in the middle for most swings and only move it it's a sure bet to be in or out, low or high

I’m going to try it with legend pitching. The cpu seems to have no offense

You can certainly raise CPU hitting sliders a click for Contact & Power

There's definitely room to increase those hitting sliders rather than increase the difficulty....either way, interested to hear your results

I am going to start my Franchise on Sunday night. Right now I am setting up my 30 team control, getting all teams lineups and rotations set, doing some equipment updating, etc. all in prep to get rolling on my season.

I will keep an eye on CPU offense during my first few games and consider an increase to CPU hitting if warranted

Hey TNK, first time using zone hitting this year (loving it so far), but I’m not a big fan of meter pitching. Do you think these sliders would still work okay for pinpoint pitching?

I’m in the same boat. Love this set of sliders but absolutely hate meter pitching. I like classic myself.

Going to give these a try and report back. Still going to use dynamic difficulty while using these cause the game is rewarding but sometimes feel like it’s scripted or you being cheated.

Personal opinion but I hate dynamic difficulty

You should have sliders that produce different results and not the next game to be tougher because you won yesterday....if that makes sense

Should be fine with whatever mechanism you use......adjust as needed though
