TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
    Game #60 of Season

Tampa Bay Rays (31-30) @ Boston Red Sox (39-20)
Pitching Matchup – Shane McClanahan vs Brayan Bello

The Red Sox took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the 2nd when Connor Wong hit a ground ball down the LF line for a two run single off McClanahan. The Rays got on the board on a solo HR off Bello by Jose Siri in the top of the 3rd but Boston would answer in the bottom half of the inning when Adam Duvall hit a towering solo HR over the green monster and we would head to the 4th inning with Boston leading 3-1. Brayan Bello would get through the top of the 5th and was up to 7 Ks in the ball game and the Red Sox would add to their lead in the bottom of the 5th when Rob Refsnyder hit a fly ball down the LF line that stayed fair for a solo HR extending the Sox lead to 4-1. McClanahan recorded his 8th K as he fanned Duvall to end the 5th and send the game to the 6th inning with Boston leading 4-1. Bello pitched another scoreless frame in the top of the 6th while McClanahan would retire Casas to begin the bottom of the 6th and Kevin Cash would come out of the Rays dugout and bring on Robert Stephenson from the pen. Stephenson would K Hernandez and Arroyo to send the game to the 7th inning with the Red Sox up 4-1. Josh Lowe doubled with 1 out in the top of the 7th but Bello came right back to strikeout Bethancourt and Siri would fly out ending the top of the 7th with the score still 4-1. Zack Littell took over on the mound making his first appearance for the Rays and retired the side in order sending the game to the 8th inning with Boston leading 4-1. Bello remained in the game to begin the top of the 8th with the top of the order due up for Tampa Bay and Yandy Diaz dropped a liner in down the RF line that hopped into the crowd for a ground rule double to lead off the inning. Brandon Lowe followed with a liner into RF for a RBI single to cut the deficit to 4-2. Bello came back to retire Wander Franco and Randy Arozarena on fly ball outs and would finish his night by getting Luke Raley to fly out to CF ending the frame with the Sox still leading by a score of 4-2. Littell remained in the game for Tampa Bay and pitched another 1-2-3 inning as he has had a nice debut for the Rays as we would head to the 9th inning with Tampa Bay coming up to bat trailing 4-2 and on the verge of being swept. Kenley Jansen was on to try and close it out for Boston and would strikeout Isaac Paredes and get Josh Lowe to fly out for two quick outs and the Rays were down to their final out with Christian Bethancourt coming up. Bethancourt would hit a chopper to the left side where Pablo Reyes would get to it and make a strong throw across to Casas for the final out and the Red Sox win 4-2 to complete the 4 game sweep with their 6th straight victory

    GAME NOTES

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
      Game #61 of Season

Boston Red Sox (40-20) @ Cleveland Guardians (34-25)
Pitching Matchup – James Paxton vs Shane Bieber

The Red Sox and Guardians meet for a big 3 game series at Progressive Field in Cleveland between two of the top teams in the American League as the Red Sox are in 1st place in the AL East with a 40-20 record while the Guardians lead the AL Central with a 34-25 record

Shane Bieber and James Paxton each cruised through the 1st inning but the Red Sox would open the scoring in the top of the 2nd when Adam Duvall doubled with 1 out and came in to score on a RBI single from Kike Hernandez with 2 outs giving the Sox a 1-0 lead. Paxton was pitching well and was through 3 innings without allowing a hit as the game moved to the 4th inning with Boston leading 1-0. Bieber made quick work of the Sox in the top of the 4th and Steven Kwan recorded the first hit of the game for Cleveland when he led off the bottom of the 4th with a rocket up the middle. Paxton came right back getting Jose Ramirez to ground into a 4-6-3 double play and then struck out Josh Naylor to end the inning and send the game to the 5th inning with Boston leading 1-0. Bieber was in a groove as he struck out Christian Arroyo to retire the side in the top of the 5th and has limited the Red Sox to just 2 hits through 5 innings. Paxton issued a pair of walks in the bottom of the 5th but would get Myles Straw to hit a soft liner to Hernandez at SS ending the threat and as he has allowed just one hit through 5 innings and we would move to the 6th inning with the Red Sox leading 1-0. Bieber got Devers to fly out to Straw in CF stranding a pair in the top of the 6th and Steven Kwan recorded just the second hit of the night for Cleveland in the bottom of the 6th but Paxton would spot a cutter low and away to strikeout Josh Naylor looking for his 9th K of the night ending the inning and sending the game to the 7th inning with the Red Sox up 1-0. Bieber allowed a 1 out single to Casas in the top of the 7th but came back to strikeout Hernandez & Arroyo for his 7th & 8th Ks of the night keeping it a 1-0 game. Josh Bell doubled off Paxton to lead off the bottom of the 7th. Ahmed Rosario followed with a rocket to CF but Duvall would get there to make the catch and execute a perfect relay throw with Hernandez to nail Bell who tagged up and tried to advance to 3rd base for two huge outs. Paxton recorded his 10th K by striking out Bo Naylor to end the 7th and we would move to the 8th inning with Boston leading 1-0. Sam Hentges took over on the mound for Cleveland and pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 8th while Paxton returned to the mound for the bottom of the 8th at 96 pitches on the night. Paxton retired Arias on a pop out and struck out Straw with a high fastball before finishing off an outstanding outing by striking out Gimenez on a curveball for his 12th K of the ball game and we would head to the 9th inning with the Red Sox clinging to a 1-0 lead. James Karinchak came on to pitch the top of the 9th for Cleveland and retired the side ending the game to the bottom of the 9th with the Guardians coming to bat against Kenley Jansen who was on to try and close the game for Boston. Kwan led off with a ground ball to the right side where Casas would make a nice diving stop to knock it down before gathering and flipping the ball to Jansen covering the bag on a nice play for the 1st out. Jose Ramirez lined a ball in the gap to left-center for a double putting the tying run in scoring position with 1 out. Josh Naylor would hit a routine fly ball to Verdugo in RF bringing up Josh Bell with the Guardians down to their final out and Ramirez at second base representing the tying run. Bell would come through as he lined a ball over the head of Casas and down the RF line for a RBI double as Ramirez scores to tie the game 1-1 and the Guardians now had a chance to win the game with Rosario coming up. Rosario dropped a soft liner into RF for a single and Bell came racing around trying to score the winning run but Verdugo threw a strike to home plate to nail Bell ending the inning and we would head to extra innings tied at 1-1. Adam Duvall was the extra innings runner for Boston in the top of the 10th and he would advance to 3rd on a ground out by Casas and Christian Arroyo would pickup an RBI as he knocked in Duvall on a sac fly to CF giving the Sox a 2-1 lead. John Schreiber came on to pitch the bottom of the 10th with Rosario on second base to start the frame. Schreiber would hit Bo Naylor with a pitch and Arias would lay down a bunt but Devers was able to cut down Naylor at second base bringing up Myles Straw with runners at the corners and 1 out. Schreiber would make a huge pitch as he froze Straw with a nasty slider for a strikeout and the Guardians were down to their final out again with Andres Gimenez coming up to hit. Schreiber would record another big strikeout as he got Gimenez swinging on a sinker away as Schreiber records back to back Ks with the tying run 90 feet away and the Red Sox win 2-1 in 10 innings.

      GAME NOTES
      * The Red Sox and Indians got excellent performances from their starters as Paxton and Bieber went toe to toe on the mound and the game would head to extra innings tied 1-1. The Red Sox got a sac fly from Arroyo in the top of the 10th to take a 2-1 lead and John Schreiber would get the chance to close it out after Boston used Jansen in the 9th and Schreiber would strikeout Straw and Gimenez with the tying run 90 feet away at 3rd base to end the game and give Boston a 2-1 win

      * The Red Sox have now won 7 in a row and 13 of their last 14 games to improve to 41-20 while the Guardians fall to 34-26 on the season

      * James Paxton has been lights out since making his return from Tommy John surgery and turned in his best performance yet as he pitched 8 shutout innings scattering 3 hits with 3 walks & 12 Ks but Paxton would wind up with a no decision after Jansen blew the save in the 9th. Re: TNK MLB 23 SLIDERS

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
        Game #62 of Season

Boston Red Sox (41-20) @ Cleveland Guardians (34-26)
Pitching Matchup – Kutter Crawford vs Zach Plesac

The Red Sox jumped out to an early lead against Zach Plesac in the top of the 1st as Adam Duvall opened the scoring with a sac fly to CF to make it 1-0 and Triston Casas crushed a 2-run HR to right-center that traveled 418 feet giving Boston a 3-0 lead. Cleveland had two men in scoring position in the bottom of the 2nd but Crawford would strikeout Will Brennan to end the threat and send the game to the 3rd inning with the Sox leading 3-0. Plesac settled in nicely after a rocky 1st inning and kept his team in the game as he was through 5 innings of work after retiring the side in the top of the 5th. The Guardians bats came alive in the bottom of the 5th as Straw led off with a single and came around to score on a RBI double by Will Brennan to make it 3-1. Bo Naylor followed with a single putting runners on the corners still with nobody out as Cleveland looks for a big inning. Steven Kwan made it 4 straight hits for Cleveland with a RBI single cutting the Sox lead to 3-2. Crawford was trying to get out of the inning with no further damage as Josh Naylor came to the plate with runners on 2nd & 3rd and 2 outs. Crawford had 2 strikes on Naylor and tried to put him away with a breaking ball but Naylor stayed on it and was able to pull a ground ball through the right side into RF for a RBI single scoring his brother Bo and Kwan as the Guardians take a 4-3 lead and that would be all for Crawford as Nick Pivetta comes in from the pen to take over on the mound for Boston and struck out Bell to end the inning sending the game to the 6th inning with the Guardians now leading 4-3. Adam Duvall tied the game leading off the top of the 6th when Plesac hung a breaking ball and Duvall absolutely crushed a 448 bomb to CF for a solo HR tying the game 4-4. Terry Francona came out of the dugout and made the move to Xavion Curry out of the pen. Curry would get through the inning with no more damage while Pivetta pitched a 1-2-3 bottom of the 6th sending the game to the 7th inning tied 4-4. Curry would escape the top of the 7th as Justin Turner hit the ball hard on a line with two men on but it was right at Ramirez who made the grab as the Red Sox strand a pair and the score remains tied 4-4.
Pivetta sat the Guardians down 1-2-3 in the bottom of the 7th to send the game to the 8th inning with the score tied 4-4. Enyel De Los Santos was on to pitch the top of the 8th for Cleveland and recorded two quick outs before leaving a slider up and over the plate to Kike Hernandez who launched a 429 foot blast to LF for a solo HR giving Boston a 5-4 lead. Pivetta remained in the game to begin the bottom of the 8th and Josh Bell just missed hitting a game tying HR by inches with 1 out when he launched a ball deep to right-center that hit high off the wall for a double. Josh Winckowski came on to replace Pivetta on the mound and Andres Gimenez punched a ground ball through the left side into LF for a RBI single as Bell just beat the throw home from Yoshida tying the game 5-5. Cleveland had to go ahead run in scoring position with 2 outs and Will Brennan hit the ball in the hole on the ground to the right side but Pablo Reyes made an outstanding diving play and throw from his knees to rob Brennan of a hit and prevent the go ahead run from scoring as we would move to the 9th inning tied 5-5. De Los Santos retired the side in order in the top of the 9th and the Guardians would come to bat in the bottom of the 9th with a chance to walk off with a victory. Bo Naylor singled off Winckowski to lead off the inning and Cleveland had the winning run on base with nobody out. Kwan put down a perfect sac bunt to adance Naylor bringing up Rosario with the winning run in scoring position and 1 out. Chris Martin replaced Winckowski and Rosario hit a liner to RF for a single but it was hit too hard for Naylor to score setting up runners on the corners with 1 out and Jose Ramirez coming to the plate. Martin tried to run a fastball in on the hands and get a double play ball but Ramirez was able to drive a fly ball deep to LF where Yoshida would make the catch but it was deep enough for Naylor to tag and score the winning run with ease as the Guardians walk off with a 6-5 victory

          Re: TNK MLB 23 SLIDERS

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
          Game #63 of Season

Boston Red Sox (41-21) @ Cleveland Guardians (35-26)
Pitching Matchup – Chris Sale vs Aaron Civale

Jarren Duran got the Red Sox off to a fast start as he led off the ball game with a 432 foot blast to RF off Aaron Civale giving Boston a 1-0 lead. The Guardians got on the board in the bottom of the 2nd when Josh Bell doubled and came in to score on a RBI single by Myles Straw tying the game 1-1. The score remained 1-1 until the top of the 4th when Triston Casas hit a fly ball that just cleared the wall in RF for a solo HR putting the Sox up 2-1. The score remained 2-1 and Sale struck out Cam Gallagher looking for his 5th K to end the bottom of the 5th and send the game to the 6th with Boston leading 2-1. Civale continued to pitch well and retired the side in the top of the 6th and the Guardians were threatening in the bottom of the 6th after back to back singles by Steven Kwan and Ahmed Rosario to start the inning put two men on with nobody out and Jose Ramirez coming up. The runners advanced into scoring position as Ramirez hit Sale with a shot back to the mound but he would recover and get Ramirez at first base for the 1st out. Sale would get out of the inning unscathed as he got Josh Naylor to pop out to Devers in foul ground for a big 2nd out and then Struck out Josh Bell on a changeup away to end the threat stranding two runners in scoring position and sending the game to the 7th inning with Boston leading 2-1. James Karinchak took over on the mound for Cleveland and pitched a scoreless frame while Sale returned to the mound and struck out Cam Gallagher to end the inning on his 95th pitch and send the game to the 8th inning with the Red Sox still leading 2-1. Sam Hentges pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 8th for Cleveland and Sale came back out at 95 pitches to begin the bottom of the 8th. Steven Kwan led off the bottom of the 8th with a bloop single into RF before Rosario flew out and Jose Ramirez punched a single through the right side to put two men on with 1 out for Josh Naylor. Sale stayed in for the lefty on left matchup against Naylor who would fouled off several pitches to stay alive and battle to a full count before Sale just missed for ball four as Naylor draws a walk to load the bases for Josh Bell with 1 out. John Schreiber came on to replace Sale on the mound in a tough spot with 1 out and the bases loaded with the Red Sox clinging to a 2-1 lead. Bell would surprise the Red Sox by laying down a bunt to knock in the tying run as he was out at first base bringing up Andres Gimenez with runners on 2nd & 3rd and 2 outs. Gimenez would battle to a full count before Schreiber froze him with a back door slider for the 3rd out sending the game to the 9th inning tied at 2-2. Nick Sandlin was on to pitch the top of the 9th for Cleveland and retired the side in order to give the Guardians a chance to win the game in the bottom of the 9th. Myles Straw hit a fly ball down the RF line that dropped in front of the dive by Refsnyder for a lead off double and the Guardians had the winning run in scoring position with nobody out but Schreiber would pitch his way out of the jam stranding Straw and sending the game to extra innings. The Red Sox would take the lead with 1 out in the top of the 10th when Sandlin hung a slider to Pablo Reyes who launched a 2-run HR to LF giving Boston a 4-2 lead. Kenley Jansen came on to try and close it out for Boston and Ahmed Rosario grounded up the middle for a RBI single scoring Kwan who was the extra innings runner and it was suddenly a 4-3 game. Jansen came back with a huge strikeout of Jose Ramirez who went down looking for the 1st out. Josh Naylor would get a fastball low and in from Jansen and drive it deep to CF sending Duran back to the warning track and he would look up and watch it go as Naylor wins the game with a 2-run walk off HR giving the Guardians a thrilling 5-4 win over the Red Sox in 10 innings

            Re: TNK MLB 23 SLIDERS

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
            Game #64 of Season

Boston Red Sox (41-22) @ New York Yankees (39-25)
Pitching Matchup – Garrett Whitlock vs Gerrit Cole

The Red Sox and Yankees renew the best rivalry in baseball as they meet for the first time this season in a big series between the top two teams in the AL East as the 1st place Red Sox come into the series with a 2.5 game lead over the Yankees

The Yankees opened the scoring in the bottom of the 1st when Aaron Judge lined a double into the RF corner and came in to score on a RBI single to CF by Anthony Rizzo giving New York an early 1-0 lead. Gerrit Cole was sharp early as he set down the first 9 Red Sox batters while Whitlock settled in nicely and the score remained 1-0 through 3 innings. Justin Turner singled in the top of the 4th for the first Red Sox hit of the night but Cole would get Devers to pop out to Trevino behind the plate to end the frame and Whitlock retired thee side in order in the bottom of the 4th to send the game to the 5th inning with the Yankees leading 1-0. Cole and Whitlock worked quick frames in the 5th and we would head to the 6th inning with the Yankees leading 1-0. Cole had allowed just one hit and retired Hernandez and Verdugo for two quick outs in the top of the 6th before Masataka Yoshida squared up a 97 mph fastball down in the zone from Cole and launched a 416 foot solo HR into the Yankees bullpen in right-center to tie the game up at 1-1. Aaron Judge led off the bottom of the 6th with a deep drive to RF but Alex Verdugo would get back and reach up to make a terrific catch against the wall and Whitlock would retire Rizzo and Stanton to end the 6th with the score tied 1-1. We would head to the 7th inning with Cole and Whitlock locked in an excellent pitchers duel as Cole had limited the Red Sox to just 2 hits while Whitlock had allowed just 3 hits to the Yankees. Rafael Devers led off the the top of the 7th with a rocket in the gap in left-center for a lead off double but Cole would leave him stranded at second base keeping it a 1-1 game. Whitlock retired the side in order in the bottom of the 7th striking out McKinney to end the inning and Whitlock had now retired 16 Yankees in a row as the game would move to the 8th inning still tied 1-1. Ron Marinaccio took over on the mound for New York to begin the top of the 8th and pitched a 1-2-3 frame. Whitlock was at 89 pitches on the night and returned to the mound to begin the bottom of the 8th and retired the side on 3 ground ball outs with Kike Hernandez making a great play in the hole and strong throw across to retire Gleyber Torres for the 3rd out as Whitlock finishes off a terrific outing by retiring 19 straight Yankees hitters as the Red Sox and Yankees would head to the 9th inning with the score tied 1-1. Wandy Peralta came on to pitch the top of the 9th for New York and got some help from his defense as Josh Donaldson made an excellent diving stop and strong throw to rob Justin Turner of a base hit and Peralta would pitch a 1-2-3 inning giving the Yankees a chance to walk off with a victory in the bottom of the 9th as New York had Judge, Rizzo and Stanton due up. Chris Martin came on to pitch the bottom of the 9th for Boston and struck out Judge and Stanton as he retired the side in order to send the game to extra innings tied 1-1. Peralta retired Duvall and Casas to start the top of the 10th before Christian Arroyo lined a ball in the gap in right-center for a RBI double scoring Devers who was the extra innings runner at second base to give the Red Sox a 2-1 lead. Connor Wong followed with a single into RF but Judge would fire a perfect throw to cut down Arroyo at the plate for the 3rd out. Martin remained in the game as the Yankees would come to bat in the bottom of the 10th trailing 2-1. Martin began the bottom of the 10th with a huge strikeout of Donaldson for the 1st out and Isiah Kiner-Falefa would pinch run for Stanton at second base as the extra innings runner. Harrison Bader was up next and he would ground out to Arroyo for the 2nd out as Kiner-Falefa advanced to 3rd base and the Yankees would call on DJ LeMahieu to pinch hit for Billy McKinney with the game on the line as the Yankees were down to their final out with the tying run 90 feet away at 3rd base. Alex Cora would make a gutsy decision as he called for Martin to issue an intentional walk to LeMahieu and take his chances against Jose Trevino. The call by Cora would pay off as Martin got Trevino to hit a slow roller to the left side where Kike Hernandez would make a nice play charging the ball and throwing on the run to Casas at first base for the final out as the Red Sox win a thriller 2-1 in 10 innings

            GAME NOTES
            * The Red Sox and Yankees had a playoff like feel to the opener of this 3 game series in New York as Gerrit Cole and Garrett Whitlock went toe to toe in an outstanding pitchers duel with the Red Sox winning 2-1 in 10 innings

            * The Red Sox improve to 42-22 while the Yankees fall to 39-26 on the season and fall 3.5 games back of the Red Sox for 1st place in the AL East

            * Garrett Whitlock was outstanding for Boston pitching 8 innings allowing 1 run on 3 hits with 1 walk & 6 Ks and retired the last 19 batters he faced. Whitlock did not facto in the decision and lowered his ERA to 2.32 on the season

            * Anthony Rizzo supplied the only offense for the Yankees with a RBI single in the 1st inning

            * Chris Martin earned the win for Boston throwing 2 innings of relief without allowing a hit while striking out 3

            * Alex Verdugo went 0 for 4 and has been stuck in a slump at the plate over the last 24 games as he was hitting .320 back on May 13th and has seen his average drop to .255 in less than a month

            * The Red Sox placed Corey Kluber on the injured list with shoulder inflammation and called up left-hander Chris Murphy from AAA Worcester to pitch in the ling relief role out of the bullpen. Murphy will be making his major league debut when he gets called into action

            * The Red Sox and Yankees will play the 2nd game of this 3 game series at Yankee Stadium tomorrow with Tanner Houck getting the start for Boston against Domingo German

Boston Red Sox (42-22) @ New York Yankees (39-26)
Pitching Matchup – Tanner Houck vs Domingo German

The Red Sox jumped out to an early lead just two batters into the game as Alex Verdugo led off with a single and Domingo German left a fastball up in the zone to Masataka Yoshida who hit a towering fly ball down the RF line that carried just over the wall for a 2-run HR despite traveling just 339 feet as Yoshida homers for the 2nd straight day and the Red Sox take a 2-0 lead. Tanner Houck was off to a great start as he struck out the side in the bottom of the 1st and the Red Sox had a 2-0 lead after 1 inning. The Red Sox added to their lead in the top of the 2nd when Jarren Duran led off by turning on a fastball from German and launching a solo HR into the second deck down the RF line making it 3-0. Houck would strikeout Stanton, Rizzo and Cabrera in the bottom of the 2nd inning making it 6 consecutive K's to start the ball game for Houck. German left a changeup over the plate to Alex Verdugo leading off the top of the 3rd and Verdugo lined a rocket to RF that cleared the wall in a hurry for a solo HR to push the lead to 4-0. Houck fanned Josh Donaldson leading off the bottom of the 3rd making it 7 straight Ks to begin the ball game before Jose Trevino flew out to Verdugo in RF as the Yankees finally put a ball in play. Billy McKinney singled up the middle with 2 outs for the first Yankees hit of the night but Houck would strikeout Volpe on a slider for his 8th K in 3 innings and we would head to the 4th inning with Boston leading 4-0. Houck recorded his 9th K in a scoreless bottom of the 4th and we would head to the 5th inning with Boston leading 4-0. German seemed to be settling in after a rocky start to the game and retired the side in the top of the 5th while Houck struck out Trevino for his 10th K of the ball game to end the bottom of the 5th and send the game to the 6th inning with Boston leading 4-0. Jhony Brito was making his MLB debut for New York as he replaced German on the mound to begin the top of the 6th and retired the side keeping the Yankees within striking distance at 4-0. Houck struck out McKinney and Volpe in a 1-2-3 bottom of the 6th bringing his total to 12 Ks and sending the game to the 7th inning with the Red Sox up 4-0. Brito retired the side in the top of the 7th and Houck would strikeout Judge and Stanton for his 13th & 14th Ks of the game sending the game to the 8th inning with the score still 4-0. The Sox were threatening with two men on in the top of the 8th but Brito would get Devers to fly out to CF finishing off his 3rd scoreless inning of relief and keeping it a 4-0 game. Houck was at 87 pitches as he returned to the mound to begin the bottom of the 8th and the Yankees had their first threat of the night after Oswaldo Cabrera walked and Josh Donaldson singled to put two on with nobody out. Houck was looking for his 15th K as he had two strikes on Jose Trevino but couldn't put him away as Trevino lined a RBI single into CF scoring Cabrera to get the Yankees on the board at 4-1. DJ LeMahieu came out to pinch hit for McKinney with two on and nobody out as the Yankees are looking for a big inning and that would be all for Houck as he exits after a fantastic outing and John Schreiber would make his way in to take over on the mound. LeMahieu punched a ground ball through the right side and this game suddenly got very interesting as the Yankees had the bases loaded with nobody out trialing 4-1 in the bottom of the 8th with Anthony Volpe coming up. Schreiber would record a huge K as Volpe couldn't check his swing on a filthy slider away for the 1st out bringing up Gleyber Torres with big Aaron Judge lurking in the on deck circle. Torres smoked a line drive to the right side but Justin Turner would snare it for the 2nd out bringing up Aaron Judge for a huge at bat with the bases loaded with 2 outs and the Yankees trailing 4-1. Schreiber would throw nothing but sliders to Judge who went down chasing a slider away as Schreiber does a terrific job to get out of the jam and the Yankees blow a golden opportunity as we would head to the 9th inning with Boston leading 4-1. Jimmy Cordero pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 9th for New York and the Yankees would come to bat in the bottom of the 9th trailing by 3 runs as Red Sox closer Kenley Jansen on to try and close it out for Boston. Jansen struck out Giancarlo Stanton swinging for the 1st out and then froze Anthony Rizzo with a back door slider and the Yankees were down to their final out. Oswaldo Cabrera hit a routine fly ball to Duran in CF for the final out and the Red Sox hang on for a 4-1 victory

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
                Game #66 of Season

Boston Red Sox (43-22) @ New York Yankees (39-27)
Pitching Matchup – Brayan Bello vs Clarke Schmidt

The Red Sox and Yankees meet in the final game of this 3 game series at Yankees Stadium with the Red Sox looking to complete the 3 game sweep of their arch rivals after taking the first two games of the series. The Red Sox pitching staff has dominated the Yankees hitters in the series as New York scored just 1 run in each of the first 2 games while the Yankees pitching staff has also pitched pretty well. Clarke Schmidt gets the start for New York looking to play the role of stopper and help his team avoid the sweep while Brayan Bello takes the mound looking to complete the sweep for Boston

Clarke Schmidt and Brayan Bello were both pitching well early as the game was scoreless after 3 innings with neither team threatening to score so far and we would head to the 4th inning tied 0-0. The Yankees would catch a break in bottom of the 4th when Aaron Judge hit a ground ball back to the mound that would have been an inning ending double play but the ball hit Bello off the ankle and bounced away where Devers would have to chase and recover the ball allowing Harrison Bader to race around to 3rd base and set up runners at the corners with 1 out for Giancarlo Stanton. Bello remained in the game and Stanton would shoot a ball into the gap in right-center for a two run double scoring Bader & Judge to give the Yankees a 2-0 lead. Oswaldo Cabrera added a RBI double with 2 outs and the Yankees had a 3-0 lead after 4 innings. Pablo Reyes left the game with an injury in the bottom of the 5th and Kike Hernandez would come in to replace Reyes at SS for Boston. The Yankees extended the lead on some sloppy defense in the bottom of the 5th as Jose Trevino doubled and Isiah Kiner-Falefa would hit a ground ball to Devers who bobbled it before unleashing a wild throw over the head of Casas and into the camera well which allowed Trevino to score making it 4-0. The Red Sox were threatening to get something going in the top of the 6th when Hernandez and Duran singled to start the inning. Schmidt would retire Verdugo and Turner on a pair of loud outs as they both flew out to the warning track bringing up Devers with 2 outs and he would fly out to Judge in RF as Schmidt escapes the jam and has thrown 6 shutout innings. The Yankees put runners on the corners with 2 outs in the bottom of the 6th for Trevino and this would be the last batter for Bello who remained in after a mound visit from the pitching coach with lefty Chris Murphy ready in the pen should Trevino reach with lefty Billy McKinney waiting in the on deck circle. Bello would freeze Trevino with a filthy slider to end the inning and send the game to the 7th inning with the Yankees leading 4-0. Schmidt recorded two quick outs in the top of the 7th before back to back singles by Casas and Wong put two men on for Boston but Kike Hernandez would ground out to Donaldson to end the threat as Schmidt was through 7 shutout innings on the mound. Chris Murphy came on to pitch for Boston making his major league debut and pitched a scoreless frame striking out Aaron Judge looking for the 3rd out. Schmidt had been very efficient as he was at just 70 pitches as he returned to the mound to begin the top of the 8th and he would work around a walk to Turner as Devers flew out to McKinney in LF ending the frame and the score remained 4-0. Murphy returned to the mound and retired the side in order as he pitches 2 scoreless innings in his MLB debut sending the game to the 9th inning with the Yankees leading 4-. Clarke Schmidt was at 87 pitches as he returned to the mound for the top of the 9th looking to finish off a complete game shutout for New York. Masataka Yoshida led off with a single to RF but Schmidt would come right back getting Casas to ground into a double play and the Red Sox were down to their final out. Christian Arroyo and Connor Wong each lined singles into CF and the Red Sox had two men on with 2 outs and Kike Hernandez would turn on a breaking ball and rip a ground ball down the LF line for a RBI double to get the Sox on the board and cut the deficit to 4-1. Schmidt would depart as Clay Holmes made his way in looking to record the final out as Boston had runners on 2nd & 3rd and the tying run at the plate as Jarren Duran stepped into the batters box. The game would end in wild fashion as Duran smoked a liner in the gap in left-center as Wong & Hernandez scored to make it 4-3 but Duran would get a little too aggressive on the base paths as he rounded second base looking for a triple before deciding to slam on the brakes and head back to second base but the relay throw to Kiner-Falefa was on target and they would get Duran into a run down where he was eventually tagged out for the final out of the game and the Yankees win 4-3 to avoid the sweep

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
                  Game #67 of Season

Colorado Rockies (21-46) @ Boston Red Sox (43-23)
Pitching Matchup – Connor Seabold vs James Pacton

James Paxton and Connor Seabold were off to good starts as the game was scoreless after two innings until Colorado opened the scoring in the top of the 3rd as Brenton Doyle recorded his first hit in his first major league at bat and then scored was in motion and scored all the way from first base on a single into left-center by Harold Castro giving the Rockies a 1-0 lead. The Red Sox tried to answer in the bottom of the 3rd as Kike Hernandez walked and Jarren Duran hit a rope into the RF corner for a double setting up runners on 2nd & 3rd with nobody out. Seabold would get both Alex Verdugo and Justin Turner to pop up on the infield but couldn't escape the inning as Rafael Devers drove a ball deep to right-center that bounced on the warning track and into the Red Sox bullpen for a ground rule RBI double putting the Sox in front 2-1. Brenton Doyle was having a heck of a MLB debut as he tied the game up with a RBI double in the top of the 4th and Seabold would strike out the side in the bottom half to send the game to the 5th inning tied 2-2. Paxton got some help from his defense in the top of the 5th when Hernandez made a great play in the hole and leaping throw to retire Jurickson Profar who was initially ruled safe but the call was overturned after a challenge by Alex Cora. Seabold continued to pitch well against his former team with a 1-2-3 bottom of the 5th to send the game to the 6th inning locked in a 2-2 tie. Paxton pitched a scoreless top of the 6th and Boston was threatening in the bottom of the 6th after Justin Turner just missed a home run when he hit a rocket high off the green monster and settled for a single. Rafael Devers was up next and smoked a ball deep to right-center for a double putting runners on 2nd & 3rd with nobody out. Peter Lambert came on to replace Seabold on the mound with Adam Duvall coming up. Duvall and Lambert would battle to a full count before Duvall ripped a ball through the left side for a RBI single giving the Sox a 3-2 lead. Lambert would get Triston Casas to ground into a big 4-6-3 double play but Devers would score on the play and we would head to the 7th inning with Boston now leading 4-2. Paxton finished his outing with by retiring the side in the top of the 7th while Daniel Bard pitched a 1-2-3 bottom half sending the game to the 8th inning with the Red Sox leading 4-2. Josh Winckowski came on to pitch the top of the 8th for Boston and he would get CJ Cron to ground into an inning ending 4-6-3 double play keeping it a 4-2 game. Brent Suter pitched a 1-2-3 bottom of the 8th for Colorado sending the game to the 9th inning with Boston leading 4-2. The Rockies would come to bat in the top of the 9th against Kenley Jansen who was on in a save opportunity and Jansen would record two quick outs as he struck out Kris Byant and got Ryan McMahon to ground out bringing up Brendan Rodgers with the Rockies down to their final out. Rodgers would hit a high fly ball to deep LF but Duran would get back and make the catch to finish off a 4-2 Red Sox victory

                  GAME NOTES
                  * The Red Sox get a pair of runs in the bottom of the 6th to snap a 2-2 tie and the bullpen slammed the door in the late innings as the Red Sox take the opener of this 3 game series 4-2

                  * Brendan Rodgers went 2 for 4 with a pair of doubles for Colorado

                  * Rockies had CF Brenton Doyle in the lineup making his major league debut and he would go 2 for 3 with a double & 1 RBI while making the play on all balls hit to him in CF for a very good MLB debut

                  * The Red Sox and Rockies will play the 2nd game of this 3 game series tomorrow with Chris Sale getting the start for Boston against Chase Anderson for Colorado

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
                    Game #68 of Season

Colorado Rockies (21-47) @ Boston Red Sox (44-23)
Pitching Matchup – Chase Anderson vs Chris Sale

The Red Sox opened the scoring in the bottom of the 2nd when Mastaka Yoshida launched a solo HR to RF giving Boston a 1-0 lead. Chris Sale was sharp early for Boston and Chase Anderson settled in nicely after the Yoshida blast the score remained 1-0 through 5 innings and we would head to the 6th inning with the Red Sox holding a 1-0 lead. Ezequiel Tovar doubled with 1 out in the top of the 6th but Sale would get Brendan Rodgers to fly out to CF and Kris Bryant would foul off several two strike pitches to stay alive before smoking a ball on the ground but it was right at Arroyo who made the play to retire Bryant and strand Tovar in scoring position as the score remained 1-0. The Red Sox had speedy SS David Hamilton was making his major league debut and he would beat out an infield single for his 2nd hit of the night with 1 out in the top of the 6th and steal second base to move into scoring position. Anderson would retire Duran on a fly ball to RF and Alex Verdugo ripped a line drive that was snared by Nolan Jones at first base ending the threat and sending the game to the 7th inning with Boston leading 1-0. Sale struck out McMahon to begin the top of the 7th before Randal Grichuk hammered a ball off the wall in CF for a 1 out triple. Sale had two strikes on Nolan Jones but couldn't put him away as Jones went down and away to get the bat on a slider and knock in the run with a ground ball out to Hamilton at SS tying the game 1-1. Sale finished his outing by retiring Diaz and we would head to the bottom of the 7th tied 1-1. Justin Turner drew a lead off walk in the bottom of the 7th and Rafael Devers would have a great battle with Anderson before driving the 11th pitch of the AB deep to right-center where Doyle would make the catch just in front of the wall. Brent Suter came on to replace Anderson and got a generous strike 3 call on Casas who went down looking on what should have been ball four for the 2nd out. Christian Arroyo was up next and drove a ball deep to LF for what looked like it would be off the green monster for a RBI double but Jurickson Profar raced back and reached up at the wall to make an excellent catch to end the inning as Suter escapes and the score remained tied 1-1 after 7 innings. John Schreiber was on to pitch for Boston and Charlie Blackmon pinch hit for Doyle and reached when Justin Turner bobbled a ground ball at third base. Schreiber ran a fastball in on the hands that hit Tovar and knocked him out of the game. Harold Castro caem on to run for Tovar as the Rockies had two men on with 1 out. Schreiber would get out of the jam as Rodgers flew out and Schreiber froze Kris Bryant with a filthy slider for a big K to end the top of the 8th with the score still 1-1. Brad Hand was on to pitch the bottom of the 8th and David Hamilton his 3rd hit of the game with 1 out. Alex Verdugo came up with 2 outs and Hand would hang a slider that was up in the zone and Verdugo absolutely crushed it 444 feet to RF for a go ahead 2-run HR putting Boston up 3-1. Kenley Jansen came on to pitch the top of the 9th with a 3-1 lead as the Rockies came up to bat needing two runs. Ryan McMahon led off the 9th with a rocket up the middle for a single and Randal Grichuk followed with a liner into RF for a single and suddenly the Rockies had two men on with nobody out. Nolan Jones hit a bouncer to Arroyo at second base who flipped to Hamilton for the force at second and Jones hustled to just beat the throw to first base staying out of the double play and bringing Elias Diaz to the plate with runners on the corners and 1 out. Diaz put up a heck of a battle as he kept fouling off pitches with 2 strikes and on the 12th pitch of the at bat would finally put the ball in play as he hit a hard ground ball to first base where Casas would field it cleanly to start a game ending 3-6-3 double play as Jansen hangs on to record the save and the Red Sox win 3-1

You’re rarely walking opponents. I’m curious to see your team stats in that area !!

Yeah ......and that's mainly on me more than the game. I sometimes get a little too safe when I fall behind in the count and don't continue to pitch right to the edges. I also could decrease HUM Control a bit to help produce more walks.

Human pitchers walking the CPU has always been an area where it's tough to get super realistic stats for as long as baseball games.

I haven't tweaked the sliders in quite some time and I was considering maybe trying a couple games without the ball marker for aiming my pitches and see if that yields some walks

I’m using your sliders but pitching on Legend with Pitcher Control at 1 and Consistency at 5.

I also cranked CPU Timing to 7 to have less strikeouts and I love it so far.

Control = 1 at Legend isn’t that bad for Meter pitching. Consistency is another thing if lowered tho.

TNK - BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
                              Game #69 of Season

Colorado Rockies (21-48) @ Boston Red Sox (45-23)
Pitching Matchup – Austin Gomber vs Garrett Whitlock

The game was scoreless after 1 inning and the Rockies were threatening in the top of the 2nd inning as Garrett Whitlock issued 3 consecutive walks to Rodgers, Blackmon and Jones to load the bases for Elias Diaz with nobody out. Diaz knocked in Rodgers with a sac fly to CF giving Colorado a 1-0 lead and the Rockies reloaded the bases when Whitlock hit Doyle with a pitch. Whitlock would escape the inning with no further damage as he got Harold Castro to hit a sinker on the ground to start a huge inning ending 4-6-3 double play. The Red Sox threatened with runners on the corner in the bottom of the 4th but Gomber got Kike Hernandez to pop out to end the inning and send the game to the 5th innning with the Rockies up 1-0. Gomber would get Rob Refsnyder to ground into a double play ending the 5th and sending the game to the 6th inning with the score still 1-0. CJ Cron singled and Ryan McMahon walked to put two on with nobody out in the top of the 6th for Colorado. Brendan Rodgers would bunt the runners up into scoring position but Whitlock came back and recorded back to back Ks of Charlie Blackmon and Nolan Jones who both went down looking at back door sliders to end the threat. Masataka Yoshida doubled to lead off the bottom of the 6th but Gomber would retire Turner, Devers and Duvall to strand Yoshida and send the game to the 7th inning with Colorado leading 1-0. Whitlock retired the first two batters in the top of the 7th before Castro singled and Profar drew a walk to put two men on with 2 outs for Cron. Josh Winckowski came in from the pen to replace Whitlock and retired Cron on a ground ball to Arroyo at second base ending the threat and keeping the score 1-0. Gomber pitched another 1-2-3 inning and struck out Connor Wong looking to end the bottom of the 7th and send the game to the 8th inning with Colorado leading 1-0. Winckowski retired the side in the top of the 8th while Gomber returned to the mound to begin the bottom of the 8th and recorded two quick outs before Yoshida lined a rocket into CF for a single. Gomber was running out of gas and Rockies manager Bud Black would make his way to the mound as Pierce Johnson was brought on to face Justin Turner with 2 outs. Turner would get into a hitters count and Johnson tried to blow a 96 mph fastball by Turner who that was grooved right down the middle and Turner launched a 417 missile to CF for a 2-run HR giving the Red Sox a 2-1 lead. Johnson would hit Devers with a pitch before coming back to K Adam Duvall ending the 8th as we would head to the 9th inning with Boston now leading 2-1 and the Rockies coming to bat in the top of the 9th needing a run as they try to avoid being swept. Red Sox closer Kenley Jansen was unavailable after pitching in each of the last two games and Alex Cora would turn to Chris Martin for the save opportunity in the 9th. Elias Diaz went down swinging on a slider away for the 1st out and Brenton Doyle hit a ground ball up the middle but David Hamilton would make a nice play ranging to his left and a strong throw on the run to just get Doyle at first base and the Rockies were down to their final out with Harold Castro coming up. Martin would freeze Castro with a 96 mph fastball at the letters for the final out as he records his 1st save filling in for Jansen and the Red Sox win 2-1 to sweep the 3 game series with the Rockies

                              GAME NOTES
                              * The Red Sox get a 2-run HR with 2 outs in the bottom of the 8th from Justin Turner and win 2-1 to sweep the Rockies

                              * The Red Sox have won 3 in a row as they improve to 46-23 while the Rockies disastrous season continues and they fall to 21-49 on the season

                              * Garrett Whitlock battled control issues but was able to gut his way through 6.2 innings and holding the Rockies to 1 run on 3 hits despite walking 6 batter and recording 8 ks in the no decision. Whitlock lowers his ERA to 2.19 and is having a very good season

                              * Austin Gomber pitched an outstanding game for Colorado as he took a shutout into the 8th inning and was in line for the win before Pierce Johnson allowed a HR to Turner. Gonber finished with a line of 7.2 innings pitched allowing 1 run on 7 hits with 1 walk & 7 Ks lowering his ERA to 4.70

                              * Justin Turner was the hero for Boston as he supplied all of their offense with a go ahead 2-run HR in the bottom of the 8th off Pierce Johnson who had just entered the game. Turner is now hitting .307 with 6 HR & 32 RBI in an excellent first half of his first season in Boston

                              * Elias Diaz knocked in the only Rockies run with a sac fly in the 2nd inning

                              * Chris Martin retired the side while recording 2 Ks in the 9th as he nailed down the save for Boston with Kenley Jansen unavailable after pitching in the first two games of the series as the Red Sox wanted to make sure they had him available for the upcoming series against the Yankees

                              * The Red Sox will have a day off tomorrow to rest up before the New York Yankees come to Fenway Park for a crucial AL East showdown. The 1st place Red Sox (49-23) currently have a 5.0 game lead on the 2nd place Yankees (41-28) and can really give themselves a comfortable lead while the Yankees look to tighten up the AL East race as we near the midway mark of the season. Tanner Houck gets the start for Boston and had 14 Ks in his previous start last week at Yankee Stadium while Domingo German German will get the start for New York

In the 8th inning - recap coming soon

I’m playing tons of games but not in Franchise context yet. Waiting for Cycloniac roster that should be out soon. Curious to see how all this will unfold with the up & downs of a full season.

I played to 2 games yesterday night with the Jays and Gausman. First one , Gausman got 11k and was pitching a perfect game until end of 7th, he had no juice to start the 8th but we won easily. Then I just restart the game, same teams, same pitchers, and Gausman gave 3 HR in one inning, 7ER in 2 innings, he was just hammered.

                                Love the variety in gameplay…
