TNK – MLB 25 BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
      Game #39 of the Season
Texas Rangers (19-18) @ Boston Red Sox (25-13)
Pitching Matchup – Jack Leiter (1-2, 4.31 ERA) vs Brayan Bello (2-0, 0.42 ERA)

      RECAP
The Red Sox got back to back HR from Wilyer Abreu who wrapped a 2-run HR inside the Pesky pole in RF and Trevor Story who followed with a solo HR to CF giving Boston a 3-0 lead against Jack Leiter in the 1st inning. The Rangers got a run on a RBI single by Jonah Heim in the top of the 2nd and were threatening with runners on the corners and 1 out in the top of the 3rd but Bello would get Adolis Garcia to hit into an inning ending 6-4-3 double play to end the threat. The score remained 3-1 into the bottom of the 5th where Leiter retired the first two batters before Rafael Devers doubled and Alex Bregman knocked him in with a RBI single to give the Red Sox a 4-1 lead. Bello retired the first two batters in the top of the 6th before Adolis Garcia doubled and Joc Pederson launched a 2-run HR to RF making it a one run game and cutting the Red Sox lead to 4-3. Jacob Webb took over on the mound for Texas and got Abraham Toro to bounce into an inning ending double play to send the game to the 7th inning with Boston leading 4-3. Bello returned to the mound for the top of the 7th and finished off his outing with a 1-2-3 frame to keep the Red Sox 4-3 lead intact while Webb retired the side in the bottom of the 7th to send the game to the 8th inning with the Red Sox leading 4-3. Justin Slaten came on to pitch the top of the 8th for Boston and Wyatt Langford doubled off the green monster to put the tying run in scoring position with 1 out. Corey Seager was up next and lined a RBI single to CF scoring Langford to tie the game up at 4-4. Slaten would get Garcia to fly out to Abreu in RF for the 2nd out and Pederson to fly out to Rafaela in CF ending the frame with the score tied 4-4. Robert Garcia came on to pitch the bottom of the 8th for Texas and Rafael Devers jumped the first pitch from Garcia and launched a solo HR into the Rangers bullpen in RF to give the Red Sox a 5-4 lead. Garcia got through the rest of the inning with no further damage and we would head to the 9th inning with the Red Sox leading 5-4 and the Rangers coming to bat against Aroldis Chapman who was on to pitch the top of the 9th looking to close it out and record the save for Boston. Chapman got Jung to fly out to Abreu for the 1st out and then blew a 99 mph fastball past Jake Burger and the Rangers were quickly down to their final out. Jonah Heim hit a routine fly ball to Wilyer Abreu in RF who made the grab for the final out as the Red Sox win 5-4

      GAME NOTES
      * The Red Sox get a go ahead solo HR from Rafael Devers in the bottom of the 8th to take a 5-4 lead and Aroldis Chapman slammed the door in the 9th to record his 15th save as the Red Sox avoid the sweep and snap their 3 game skid

      * The Red Sox snap their 3 game losing streak and improve to 26-13 while the Rangers fall back to .500 at 19-19 on the season

      * Rafael Devers had a big night at the plate for Boston finishing a single shy of the cycle as he went 3 for 4 with a double, triple and HR with 1 RBI. Devers continues to rake as he has adjust to his new role as DH allowing him to focus solely on hitting and is now hitting .323 with 14 HR & 40 RBI on the season

      * Trevor Story has struggled mightily and finally hit his first HR of the season as he went 2 for 4 with a HR & 1 RBI and is now hitting .222 with 1 HR & 8 RBI. Story has managed to stay healthy but needs to get going offensively or will be in danger of losing his job as the Red Sox have one of the games top prospects Marcelo Mayer knocking on the door at AAA Worcester and looking ready to make the jump to the major leagues sooner rather than later

      * Wilyer Abreu went 1 for 4 with a HR & 2 RBI and is now hitting .256 with 4 HR & 9 RBI on the season

      * Joc Pederson went 1 for 4 with a HR & 2 RBI for Texas and is hitting .213 with 4 HR & 11 RBI on the season

      * Brayan Bello pitched 7 innings allowing 3 runs on 6 hits with 1 walk & 4 Ks earning a no decision for Boston

      * Aroldis Chapman pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 9th to record his 15th save and lower his ERA to 0.51 on the season as he has been lights out as the closer for Boston

      * Jack Leiter pitched 5.0 innings allowing 4 runs on 7 hits with 6 Ks in a no decision for Texas

      * The Red Sox will head out on a 6 game road trip beginning with 3 games against the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium. The Royals are currently in 1st place in the AL Central with a record of 21-18 on the season with a 0.5 game lead over both the Minnesota Twins and Detroit Tigers. The Red Sox will play 3 games in Kansas City before moving on to Detroit where they will play 3 games against the Tigers on the upcoming road trip. Walker Buehler gets the start to open the series in Kansas City for the Red Sox while the Royals will send Michal Lorenzen to the mound in the opener

TNK – MLB 25 BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
        Game #40 of the Season
Boston Red Sox (26-13) @ Kansas City Royals (21-18)
Pitching Matchup – Walker Buehler (3-1, 3.13 ERA)
vs Michael Lorenzen (3-2, 0.94 ERA)

        RECAP
Michael Lorenzen and Walker Buehler were going toe to toe in what was an excellent pitchers duel early on as Lorenzen retired the first 9 Red Sox hitters he faced and Buehler had allowed just 1 hit and was up to 4 Ks after he struck out the side in the bottom of the 3rd as the game was scoreless after 3 innings. Lorenzen got ahead 0 & 2 to Jarren Duran leading off the top of the 4th but missed his spot on the 0-2 pitch leaving a 94 mph fastball over the plate and Duran punished him for the mistake pitch launching a 412 foot blast to right-center for a solo HR giving the Red Sox a 1-0 lead. Buehler pitched a 1-2-3 bottom of the 4th sending the game to the 5th inning with Boston leading 1-0. Lorenzen settled right back into a groove after the Duran HR as he would retire the next 8 Red Sox hitters he faced before Duran came up again in the top of the 6th and singled to LF but Lorenzen would retire Devers to end the frame keeping it a 1-0 ball game. Buehler was dominating on the mound for Boston as he had allowed just 1 hit by Pasquantino in the 2nd inning and has retired 14 straight Royals hitters and we would head to the 7th inning with the Red Sox leading 1-0. Lorenzen pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 7th while Buehler retired the side picking up his 9th K and had now retired 17 in a row sending the game to the 8th inning with Boston leading 1-0. Daniel Lynch stranded Connor Wong in scoring position after he doubled as Lynch pitches a scoreless top of the 8th for Kansas City and the score remained 1-0 with Buehler coming out to pitch the bottom of the 8th for Boston. Pasquantino led off with a ground ball up the middle for the first Royals hit since the 2nd inning and Mark Canha would come on to pinch run for Pasquantino. Buehler came right back to get Jonathan India on a pop up to LF and Kyle Isbel would hit a soft liner down the first base line that was caught by Abraham Toro who made the catch and stepped on the bag to double off Canha ending the inning as Buehler was through 8 scoreless innings and the game would move to the 9th inning with the Red Sox leading 1-0. Alex Bregman would supply a big insurance run in the top of the 9th when he crushed a fastball from Lynch deep to CF that traveled 438 feet hitting the batters eye to give Boston a 2-0 lead. Buehler returned to the mound to begin the bottom of the 9th at 94 pitches on the night looking to finish off what has been a masterful outing with Aroldis Chapman warming in the pen ready to enter if the Royals get a base runner. Buehler recorded his 10th K by striking out Drew Waters looking at a back door cutter for the 1st out. Cavan Biggio swung at the first pitch he saw and grounded to Hamilton at second base and the Royals were down to their final out. Dairon Blanco was up next and Buehler would get him to fly out to Refsnyder in LF on his 100th pitch of the night to finish off a complete game shutout as the Red Sox win 2-0

        GAME NOTES
        * The Red Sox take the opener of this 3 game series with the Royals by a score of 2-0 behind a masterful pitching performance as Walker Buehler threw a gem on the mound striking out 10 Royals in a complete game 2 hit shutout

        * The Red Sox improve to 27-13 while the Royals fall to 21-19 on the season and slip to 2nd place in the AL Central falling 0.5 games back of the Twins

        * Jarren Duran went 2 for 4 with a HR & 1 RBI and is now hitting .338 with 6 HR & 19 RBI on the season

        * Alex Bregman launched a 438 foot bomb to CF in the 9th inning as he went 1 for 4 with a HR & 1 RBI and is now hitting .302 with 10 HR & 33 RBI on the season

        * Walker Buehler pitched an absolute game throwing a complete game shutout holding the Royals to just 2 hits while racking up 10 Ks to earn the win and improve to 4-1 with a 2.62 ERA on the season

        * Michael Lorenzen came into the game with a 0.94 ERA through his first 7 starts of the season and pitched 7 strong innings allowing just 1 run on 2 hits with 4 Ks but took the tough luck loss falling to 3-3 as his ERA rises to 0.99 ERA

        * The Red Sox and Royals will play the 2nd game of this 3 game series at Kauffman Stadium tomorrow with Garrett Crochet taking the mound for Boston against Cole Ragans for Kansas City in what should be another good pitchers duel

        * TRANSACTION * - The Red Sox have called up RP Luis Guerrero from AAA Worcester and Sean Newcomb has been designated for assignment with the team hoping that he clears waivers and can be sent down to AAA Worcester and remain in the organization

TNK – MLB 25 BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
            Game 42 of the Season
Boston Red Sox (27-14) @ Kansas City Royals (22-19)
Pitching Matchup – Lucas Giolito (1-1, 4.91 ERA) vs Seth Lugo (1-1, 3.78 ERA)

            RECAP
The game was scoreless through 4 innings as Seth Lugo had held the Red Sox to just 1 hit through his first 4 innings of work while Lucas Giolito had all of his pitches working and struck out the side in the bottom of the 4th as he has recorded 5 straight strikeouts bringing his total to 7 Ks and we would head to the 5th inning with the score tied 0-0. Kansas City was threatening with 2 outs in the bottom of the 5th when Bobby Witt lined a single to RF but Wilyer Abreu came up throwing and fired a laser to home plate nailing Kyle Isbel to end the inning and send the game to the 6th inning tied 0-0. The Royals threatened again in the bottom of the 6th with two in scoring position but Giolito would freeze Isbel with a breaking ball for his 10th K sending the game to the 7th inning tied 0-0. Alex Bregman doubled leading off the top of the 7th but was stranded at third base while Giolito retired the side in the bottom of the 7th and we would head to the 8th inning with the score still tied 0-0. Lucas Erceg pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 8th for Kansas City while Garrett Whitlock came on to pitch the bottom of the 8th for Boston and gave up a lead off double to Witt as the Royals were threatening again. Witt would steal 3rd base with 1 out and Pasquantino at the plate and Whitlock would issue a walk to put runners on the corners with 1 out and Jonathan India would drive a ball deep to LF off the wall for a RBI double giving the Royals a 1-0 lead. The Royals blew the game open with 2 outs when Isbel dropped a liner into LF scoring 2 runs to make it 3-0. Justin Wilson replaced Whitlock and recorded the final out and we would go to the 9th inning with the Royals leading 3-0 and Carlos Estevez coming on to try and close it out for Kansas City. The Red Sox came up to bat in the top of the 9th trailing 3-0 with the top of the order due up and Duran ripped a lead off single up the middle to put a man on. Estevez recorded back to back Ks of Devers and Bregman and the Sox were down to their final out. Estevez would get Abreu to fly out to RF ending the game and picking up the save as the Royals take the finale of this series 3-0 and the Red Sox drop 2 out of 3 in Kansas City

TNK – MLB 25 BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
              Game #43 of the Season
Boston Red Sox (27-15) @ Detroit Tigers (22-19)
Pitching Matchup – Tanner Houck (2-1, 4.58 ERA) vs Jackson Jobe (3-1, 2.42 ERA)

              RECAP
The Tigers got to Tanner Houck for a pair of runs in the bottom of the 1st on RBI doubles by Colt Keith and Spencer Torkelson giving Detroit an early 2-0 lead. The Red Sox got a run back in the top of the 2nd on a blooper into CF for a RBI single from Abraham Toro making it 2-1 and then took the lead in the top of the 3rd when Rafael Devers hit a rocket high and deep down the RF line that struck high off the Pesky pole for a 2-run HR giving the Red Sox a 3-2 lead. The score remained 3-2 until the Red Sox extended the lead in the top of the 5th on a RBI double from Trevor Story to make it 4-2. Tanner Houck got into danger when he walked Trey Sweeney to lead off the bottom of the 5th before back to back singles by Kerry Carpenter and Gleyber Torres would load the bases with nobody out for Colt Keith with Riley Greene on deck. Houck would get Keith to hit the ball on the ground for a huge 6-4-3 double play but Sweeney would score making it a 4-3 ball game. Houck would get Greene to ground out as the Tigers manage to score just 1 run despite loading the bases with nobody out as Houck limits the damage and escapes to send the game to the 6th inning with Boston leading 4-3. Rafael Devers would launch a ball deep the opposite way to LF for his 2nd HR of the game in the top of the 6th making it 5-3. The Tigers would get into the Red Sox pen after Torkelson singled off Houck to begin the bottom of the 6th and Brennan Bernardino came in to replace Houck on the mound. Detroit would get a RBI sac fly from Zach McKinstry and a RBI single from Dillon Dingler to tie the game up 5-5. Bernardino and Greg Weissert combined to get through the rest of the frame and we would head to the 7th inning with the score tied up at 5-5. John Brebbia pitched a scoreless top of the 7th and the Tigers took the lead in the bottom of the 7th as Colt Keith singled off Weissert to lead off the inning and Riley Greene followed with a RBI double to give Detroit a 6-5 lead. Wenceel Perez lined a ball into the LF corner for a RBI double with 1 out making it 7-5. Justin Slaten replaced Weissert on the mound and recorded the final 2 outs with no further damage to keep the Sox in the game as they trail 7-5 entering the 8th inning. Tyler Holton came in and pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 8th for Detroit while Slaten retired the side in order in the bottom of the 8th sending the game to the 9th inning with the Red Sox came up to bat needing 2 runs as they trail 7-5 and would have Hamilton, Devers and Bregman coming up against Tigers closer Beau Brieske who was looking to close it out and record the save for Detroit. Brieske retired Hamilton on a fly ball to CF for the 1st out and then struck out Devers and the Red Sox were down to their final out. Bregman hit a fly ball to LF and Greene would get there to make the catch as the Tigers win 7-5

                RECAP
The Red Sox opened the scoring in the top of the 1st when Rafael Devers turned on a 96 mph fastball from Olson and lined an absolute missile over the wall in RF that came off the bat with an exit velocity of 109 mph and left the yard in a hurry giving Boston a 1-0 lead. Brayan Bello was battling command issues in the bottom of the 1st as he issued 2 walks and the Tigers loaded the bases with 1 out and would get a pair of RBI singles from Spencer Torkelson.and Wenceel Perez to give Detroit a 2-1 lead. Bello settled in after a rocky 1st inning while Olson continued pitching well as the score remained 2-1 through the end of the 3rd innings. The Red Sox pulled even in the top of the 4th when Nick Sogard hit a ball int he gap for a RBI triple tying the game 2-2. while Bello retired the side in the bottom of the 4th sending the game to the 5th inning tied at 2-2. The Red Sox took the lead in the top of the 5th as Jarren Duran doubled and came home to score on a RBI single by Devers giving Boston a 3-2 lead. Alex Bregman followed with a liner down the LF line for a double putting runners on 2nd & 3rd with 1 out and that would be all for Olson as AJ Hinch came out and brought in Brant Hurter in a big spot with Wilyer Abreu coming up. Hurter got Abreu to hit the ball on the ground but it was hit up the middle into CF for a RBI single scoring both Devers & Bregman to push the Boston lead to 5-2. Bello continued having command issues in the bottom of the 5th as he hit Torkelson with a pitch and walked Perez loading the bases for Zach McKinstry as Detroit was threatening with 2 outs. Bello would get out of the jam by striking out McKinstry on a fastball up at the letters and the Tigers strand 3 runners and leave the bases loaded as we head to the 6th inning with Boston leading 5-2. The Red Sox continued to pad their lead in the top of the 6th when they loaded bases and Ceddanne Rafaela hit a soft liner into CF for a RBI single scoring a pair to make it 7-2. The Tigers were not going down quietly though as Jake Rogers jumped the first pitch of the inning from in the bottom of the 6th and crushed a solo HR to make it 7-3 and then Kerry Carpenter launched a ball the opposite way for a solo HR making it a 7-4 ball game with 1 out. Bello was facing his last batter with a pair of lefties due up after Gleyber Torres and Bello would plunk him to put a man on base. Alex Cora came out to get Bello and call for the lefty bringing on Justin Wilson who would throw just one pitch to Colt Keith who hit the ball on the ground to Sogard to start an inning ending 3-6-3 double play and we would head to the 7th inning with the score 7-4. Tommy Kahnle and Justin Wilson pitched scoreless frames to send the game to the 8th inning with Boston leading 7-4. Kahnle retired the side in the top of the 8th and Garrett Whitlock came on to pitch the bottom of the 8th for Boston. The Tigers bats got to work as Rogers singled and came around to score on a RBI double by Trey Sweeney making it 7-5 with nobody out. Whitlock would retire Carpenter on a ground ball advancing Sweeney to third base and then struck out Torres on a pitch that got away from Narvaez behind the plate and Sweeney would score on the play making it a one run game 7-6 with 2 outs. Whitlock would strikeout Colt Keith looking to get out of the inning with the lead and we would head to the 9th inning with the Red Sox leading 7-6. Tyler Holton pitched a scoreless top of the 9th for Detroit and the Tigers would come up to bat in the bottom of the 9th trailing 7-6 with Aroldis Chapman coming on to close it out for Boston. Rafael Devers followed with a rocket over the head of Perez in CF for a RBI double making it 5-2. Buehler gave the Red Sox a much needed scoreless frame in the bottom of the 3rd sending the game to the 4th innings with the Tigers leading 5-2. RECAP
There was a buzz to the ballpark as the Red Sox and Braves begin a 3 game series at Fenway Park with a big time pitching matchup on tap as former Red Sox ace Chris Sale comes back to Boston with the Braves and will be opposed on the mound by new Red Sox ace Garrett Crochet. The game was scoreless in the bottom of the 2nd when the Red Sox opened the scoring when Trevor Story doubled and came in to score on a RBI double by Abraham Toro to take a 1-0 lead. Crochet and Sale pitched scoreless frames in the 3rd inning and we would head to the 4th inning with the Red Sox leading 1-0. The score remained 1-0 until the top of the 5th when Ozzie Albies doubled and Sean Murphy reached on an infield single as he hit a ball back to Crochet on the mound who knocked it down and then threw the ball over the head of Toro at first base allowing Albies to score tying the game 1-1. The Red Sox got back to back singles from Ceddanne Rafaela and Jarren Duran with 1 out in the bottom of the 5th but Sale would get Devers to fly out and then struck out Bregman to get out of the jam and send the game to the 6th inning with the score tied 1-1. Crochet retired the Braves in order in the top of the 6th and Sale would hit Rob Refsnyder with a pitch leading off the bottom of the 6th and Braves manager Brian Snitker
would come out to the mound and remove Sale bringing in another former Red Sox pitcher as Craig Kimbrel made his way in from the bullpen. Trevor Story welcomed Kimbrel by lining a single to CF and Kristian Campbell followed with a single to LF and the Red Sox suddenly had the bases loaded for Abraham Toro with nobody out. Toro got a breaking ball over the plate from Kimbrel and hammered it deep towards the triangle in CF and the ball would bounce over the wall into the Red Sox bullpen for a ground rule RBI double as Boston takes a 3-1 lead. The Sox got a RBI sac fly by Carlos Narvaez and RBI single from Ceddanne Rafaela and we would head to the 7th inning with Boston now leading 5-1. Crochet pitched a scoreless top of the 7th and was in position to go the distance and pitch a complete game as he was at 72 pitches through his first 7 innings of work. Dylan Lee pitched a scoreless bottom of the 7th sending the game to the 8th inning with the Red Sox leading 5-1. Crochet pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 8th striking out Michael Harris for his 7th K ending the frame and was at just 83 pitches while Enyel De Los Santos came on to pitch the bottom of the 8th and got into trouble with 2 outs when Jarren Duran doubled to put runners on 2nd & 3rd and Snitker called for an intentional walk of Rafael Devers to load the bases with 2 outs for Alex Bregman. De Los Santos would escape the jam getting Bregman to pop up sending the game to the 9th inning with Boston leading 5-1. The Braves would come up to bat trailing by 4 runs and Crochet would return to the mound looking to finish off a complete game as he was at just 83 pitches through 8 innings and Atlanta would have Ronald Acuna, Marcell Ozuna and Austin Riley due to hit in the 9th. Acuna started the inning with a liner to LF for a single and both Justin Slaten and Aroldis Chapman would start loosening up in the Red Sox bullpen. Crochet came back with a big K of Ozuna recording his 8th K for the 1st out. Austin Riley grounded out a walk on on 9 pitch at bat pushing Crochet up to 99 pitches and putting two men on with 1 out for Atlanta. Pitching coach Andrew Bailey came out for a mound visit with Matt Olson coming up and Olson would reach on a ground ball to Bregman who threw to first base but bounced his throw and Toro could not make the scoop and suddenly the Braves had the bases loaded with 1 out and Ozzie Albies stepping to the plate representing the tying run. Crochet would not finish the complete game as Alex Cora brought in Aroldis Chapman in a tough spot with the bases loaded. Albies hit the ball hard deep to CF but Rafaela would get there to make the catch but Acuna would score on the RBI sac fly making it 5-2 and the Braves were down to their final out. Sean Murphy was up next and Chapman would get him to hit a lazy fly ball to CF where Rafaela would make the catch and the Red Sox hang on for a 5-2 victory

                    GAME NOTES
                    * The Red Sox get a strong performance from Garrett Crochet and the Red Sox offense scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 6th to snap a 1-1 tie on their way to a 5-2 win in the opener of this 3 game series

TNK – MLB 25 BOSTON RED SOX FRANCHISE
                      Game #47 of the Season
Atlanta Braves (28-18) @ Boston Red Sox (29-17)
Pitching Matchup – Spencer Strider (1-0, 0.00 ERA) vs Lucas Giolito (1-1, 3.00 ERA)

                      RECAP
The Braves got off to a good start against Lucas Giolito in the top of the 1st as Austin Riley doubled and Matt Olson launched a 2-run HR into the Braves bullpen in RF giving Atlanta a 2-0 lead. Spencer Strider was pitching well early and the score remained 2-0 into the bottom of the 3rd where Jarren Duran dropped a soft liner into CF for a single with 2 outs to extend his hitting streak to 12 games. Atlanta got a solo HR from Austin Riley leading off the top of the 4th to make it 3-0 and Matt Olson followed with a deep drive for what would have been back to back home runs but Ceddanne Rafaela made an outstanding catch robbing Olson of his 2nd HR of the night keeping it a 3-0 game. Strider retired the Sox 1-2-3 in the bottom of the 4th and 5th innings and was up to 5 Ks in the game as we would head to the 6th inning with Atlanta leading 3-0. Giolito finished off his night with a scoreless top of the 6th while Strider retired the first 2 batters in the bottom of the 6th before Rafael Devers drew a walk to put a man on with 2 outs. Alex Bregman was up next and jumped a first pitch fastball from Strider crushing a 433 foot bomb that cleared the green monster seats in LF for a 2-run HR making it a one run game and cutting the Braves lead to 3-2. Strider got Abreu to ground out to Allen at SS and send the game to the 7th inning with Atlanta leading 3-2. Zack Kelly took over on the mound for Boston and the Braves would put two men on with 2 outs for Michael Harris. Alex Cora brought in Brennan Bernanrdino for the lefty lefty matchup and Harris would hit a high chopper up the middle that Campbell got to but had no play as everybody was safe and the bases were now loaded with 2 outs and Ronald Acuna coming to the plate for a huge at bat. Bernardino would escape the bases loaded jam as he would get Acuna to ground out to Campbell at second base ending the threat with the score still 3-2. Strider returned to the mound to begin the bottom of the 7th at 71 pitches on the night and gave up a lead off single to Story bringing Brian Snitker out of the Braves dugout to get Strider and Pierce Johnson would come in to take over on the mound. advanced to second on a pitch in the dirt that got away from Baldwin and the Sox had the tying run in scoring position with nobody out. Johnson would strikeout Campbell and Toro flew out to CF and the Red Sox were in danger of blowing the opportunity but Connor Wong would hit a liner to RF that dropped in for a RBI single as Story scores tying the game up 3-3. Rafaela would fly out to end the inning and we would head to the 8th inning with the score tied 3-3. Bernardino walked Drake Baldwin to begin the top of the 8th and Cora would bring in Justin Slaten with Riley, Olson and Ozuna due up next as the Braves look to capitalize on the lead off walk and snap the 3-3 tie. Riley turned on an inside cutter from Slaten and crushed it high and deep down the LF line but it just hooked foul. Riley would drop a bloop single into LF and the Braves now had two men on with nobody out but Slaten would get Olson to ground to Story to start a 6-4-3 double play for two huge outs bringing up Marcell Ozuna with Baldwin representing the go ahead run on third base with 2 outs. Slaten ran fastball in on the hands of Ozuna getting him to hit a tapper back to the mound and Slaten would make the play to escape the jam and the Braves fail to score keeping the game tied 3-3.
Aaron Bummer pitched a big 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of the 8th as he retired Duran, Devers and Bregman in order to send the game to the 9th inning locked in a 3-3 tie. Slaten returned to the mound and pitched a scoreless top of the 9th and the Red Sox would have a chance to walk it off in the bottom of the 9th as they will have Abreu, Story and Campbell due to hit against Craig Kimbrel who was coming on to pitch for Atlanta. Kimbrel would retire the side although all 3 Red Sox hitters hit the ball hard and we were headed to extra innings with the score tied 3-3 after 9 innings. Slaten and Justin Wilson combined to pitch a scoreless top of the 10th as the Braves strand the extra innings runner and Wilson was fired up after striking out Olson on a nasty slider to end the frame. The Red Sox had the speedy Campbell on second base to start the bottom of the 10th with Toro, Wong and Rafaela due to hit for Boston against Kimbrel who returned to the mound for his 2nd inning of work. David Hamilton would pinch hit for Toro leading off the bottom of the 10th and laid down a perfect sacrifice bunt to advance Campbell to third base and the Red Sox had the winning run just 90 feet away with 1 out and Connor Wong coming to the plate with a chance to be the hero. Wong would hit a fly ball to medium depth RF and Acuna would get under it to make the catch and fire to home plate as he showed off his cannon with a strong throw but Campbell would just beat it sliding in safely to give the Red Sox a 4-3 walk off win in 10 innings

                        RECAP
Brayan Bello and Spencer Schwellenbach were both sharp early and pitching well as they game was scoreless through 4 innings and we would head to the 5th inning tied 0-0. The Braves put two men on with 1 out in the top of the 5th but Bello would get Alex Verdugo to ground into a 4-6-3 double play ending the threat and Schwellenbach pitched a scoreless bottom of the 5th sending the game to the 6th inning tied 0-0. Bello struck out Luke Williams for his 6th K ending the top of the 6th while Schwellenbach retired the side in the bottom of the 6th sending the game to the 7th inning with the score still tied 0-0. Bello pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 7th getting some help from Alex Bregman who made a nice diving play and strong throw from his butt to retire Matt Olson ending the frame. Bregman doubled with 1 out in the bottom of the 7th but Schwellenbach would get Abreu to fly out and struck out Story for his 7th K of the ball game stranding Bregman in scoring position and we were scoreless through 7 innings and would head to the 8th inning with the score tied 0-0. Bello continued his excellent outing as he retired the side and struck out Drake Baldwin for his 8th K to end the frame. Pierce Johnson came on to pitch the bottom of the 8th taking over for Schwellenbach who pitched 7 shutout innings and Johnson retired Toro to start the inning before Connor Wong hit a rocket to LF off the green monster for a double putting the go ahead run in scoring position with 1 out. David Hamilton chased a fastball up the ladder as Johnson recorded a big K for the 2nd out bringing up Ceddanne Rafaela trying to snap the tie with 2 outs. Johnson started Rafaela off with a breaking ball over the plate and Rafaela was aggressive and ripped it up the middle into CF for a RBI single as Wong came around to score the go ahead run putting Boston up 1-0. Jarren Duran was up next with his 12 game hit streak on the line as he was 0 for 3 so far in the ball game and Johnson would freeze him with a back door breaking ball to end the 8th inning and send the game to the 9th inning with the Red Sox leading 1-0. The Braves had Nick Allen, Michael Harris and Luke Williams due to hit as they came up to bat in the top of the 9th trailing 1-0. Bello was dominant through 8 innings and was at just 82 pitches as he returned to the mound to begin the top of the 9th with a chance to finish off the complete game shutout but Aroldis Chapman was ready in the bullpen and will enter the game if Bello allows a Braves hitter to reach base. Nick Allen did a great job of hitting with 2 strikes as Bello located a slider off the plate away but Allen stayed on it and poked a soft line into CF for a lead off single. Alex Cora came out of the dugout and made the move to Aroldis Chapman with Harris coming up and nobody out. Harris hit a fly ball deep to RF but Abreu would get back to make the catch on the warning track for the 1st out. Chapman struck out Luke Williams on a back door slider after a steady diet of 98 and 99 mph fastballs and the Braves were down to their final out. Ronald Acuna stepped to the plate looking to extend the game but Chapman would blow a 98 mph fastball past him for strike 3 to end the ball game and the Red Sox take the final game of the series 1-0 to complete the 3 game sweep of the Braves

                          RECAP
The Mets opened the scoring in the top of the 1st when Hunter Dobbins retired the first two batters for New York before Juan Soto drew a walk and Pete Alonso launched a 2-run HR into the green monster seats giving the Mets a 2-0 lead. Kodai Senga was pitching well early for New York and the score was 2-0 after 2 innings. The Mets had men on 2nd & 3rd in the top of the 3rd with 1 out but Dobbins would record a huge K of Juan Soto and then got Alonso to fly out ending the threat.and the Red Sox put two men on in the bottom of the 4th but Senga would retire Kristian Campbell to get out of the jam and send the game to the 5th inning with the Mets leading the Sox 2-0. The score remained 2-0 as Dobbins and Senga cruised through a scoreless 5th inning and the Mets were leading 2-0 and had Nimmo, Soto and Alonso due up in the top of the 6th against Dobbins who was at 76 pitches through 5 innings. Dobbins froze Nimmo with a nasty curveball for his 7th K before Soto singled to put a man on with 1 out. Pete Alonso followed with a ground ball in the hole to the left side but David Hamilton showed nice range getting to the ball and making a spinning throw to Campbell at second base to start a big 6-4-3 inning ending double play. Alex Bregman doubled with 1 out in the bottom of the 6th but Senga would record back to back Ks as Wilyer Abreu went down swinging and Carlos Narvaez was frozen on a nasty breaking ball and went down looking for the 5th K of the night from Senga and we would head to the 7th inning with New York leading 2-0. The Mets got a double from Jeff McNeil leading off the top of the 7th and that would be all for Dobbins who exits after 88 pitches and Garrett Whitlock came in from the pen to pitch for Boston. Whitlock struck out Mark Vientos before retiring Ronny Mauricio on a fly and Tyrone Taylor on a ground out to get out of the jam and keep the score 2-0. Ryne Stanek came in from the pen to take over for Senga and pitched a 1-2-3 bottom of the 7th sending the game to the 8th inning with the Mets up 2-0. Whitlock returned to the mound for the top of the 8th and Juan Soto came to the plate with Francisco Lindor who singled at first base with 2 outs and he would ground out to Hamilton at SS ending the top of the 8th with the score 2-0. Stanek returned to the mound for the top of the 8th and retired Rafaela, Duran and Devers in order sending the game to the 9th inning with the Mets holding a 2-0 lead. Pete Alonso turned on an inside cutter from Whitlock and launched his 2nd HR of the night down the LF line extending the lead to 3-0. Whitlock walked McNeil and was replaced by Luis Guerrero who would record Ks of Vientos and Taylor getting out of the inning with the score 3-0 and the Red Sox were within striking distance but need the bats to come to life as they trail 3-0 entering the bottom of the 9th. Mets closer Edwin Diaz was making his way on to pitch the bottom of the 9th for New York looking to close it out and record the save as the Red Sox had Alex Bregman, Wilyer Abreu and Carlos Narvaez due to hit. Bregman got a pitch low and in from Diaz on just the 2nd pitch of the inning and was able to get enough of it to lift a high fly ball to LF that came down in the first row of the green monster seats for a solo HR bringing the Fenway Park crowd to life and cutting the deficit to 3-1 with nobody out. Abreu grounded out to McNeil at second base for this 1st out and Diaz struck out Narvaez with high heat to bring up Kristian Campbell with the Red Sox down to their final out. Diaz would strikeout Campbell on a filthy slider in the dirt and Alvarez would gather the ball and throw to first as Diaz records his 12th save and the Mets take the opener of this 3 game series by a score of 3-1

                            Game #50 of the Season
New York Mets (27-21) @ Boston Red Sox (31-18)
Pitching Matchup – Clay Holmes (5-1, 2.39 ERA) vs Walker Buehler (4-2, 3.47 ERA)

                            RECAP
Walker Buehler and Clay Holmes were both pitching well early as Buehler had allowed just 1 Mets hit and Holmes had not allowed a hit through the first 3 innings and we would head to the 4th inning in a scoreless tie 0-0. The Mets threatened in the top of the 4th when Brandon Nimmo walked to lead off the inning but Buehler would come back to retire Juan Soto and Pete Alonso before Jeff McNeil came up with Nimmo in scoring position and he would hit a ground ball up the middle but Trevor Story made a great play to get to the ball and throw on the run to end the threat as Buehler escapes the frame. Jarren Duran led off the bottom of the 4th with a single and Rafael Devers grounded to Alonso but his wild throw to second base resulted in Duran and Devers both being safe and Boston having two men on with nobody out. Holmes came back to get Bregman to bounce into a 5-4-3 double play for 2 big outs and Wilyer Abreu hit a ground ball up the middle with 2 outs that McNeil would dive and get to but he couldn't hang on and Abreu would reach on an infield RBI single as the Red Sox take a 1-0 lead. New York got a lead off single from Mark Vientos to start the top of the 5th and Tyrone Taylor hammered a rocket off the green monster for a double with 1 out setting up runners on second and third for Francisco Alvarez with 1 out. Alvarez hit a high chopper to Bregman at third but he threw over the head of Toro at first base but avoided an error as Alvarez was credited with an infield single and Vientos would score to tie the game 1-1. Francisco Lindor followed with a RBI ground out as Taylor scored to make it 2-1 and Buehler would strikeout Nimmo to end the top of the 5th while Soto went back and made a nice catch at the wall to retire David Hamilton as Holmes pitches a 1-2-3 bottom of the 5th sending the game to the 6th inning with the Mets leading 2-1. Buehler was over 100 pitches and struck out Vientos to record his 9th K and finish his night ending the top of the 6th and Holmes would get into trouble as Ceddanne Rafaela drew a lead off walk to start the bottom of the 6th and Duran singled to put two on with nobody out. Holmes came back with a huge K of Rafael Devers and Jose Butto would enter the game out of the bullpen with Alex Bregman due up. Bregman popped out to Alvarez behind home plate in foul territory and Wilyer Abreu flew out to Taylor in CF as Boston strands a pair and fails to score as we move to the 7th inning with New York leading 2-1. Zack Kelly took over on the mound and pitched a scoreless top of the 7th for Boston and Butto returned to the mound and pitched a 1-2-3 bottom of the 7th for New York sending the game to the 8th inning with the Mets leading 2-1. Justin Wilson pitched around a double by Soto in a scoreless top of the 8th and AJ Minter was coming on to pitch the bottom of the 8th for New York. Minter retired Hamilton, Rafaela and Duran in order sending the game to the 9th inning with the Mets clinging to a 2-1 lead. Justin Slaten was in to pitch the top of the 9th and New York would put runners on the corners with 1 out as they look to add a big insurance run with Alvarez coming up to hit. Alvarez fouled off several pitches with 2 strikes to stay alive before eventually striking out on the 10th pitch of the at bat as Slaten records a huge K bringing up Francisco Lindor with runners at the corners and 2 outs. Lindor put on another long at bat as he saw 9 pitches before Slaten picked up his 3rd K of the inning on his 30th pitch of the frame but he would get through the inning and we would head to the bottom of the 9th with the Mets leading 2-1 and the Red Sox coming up to bat. Boston would have Devers, Bregman and Abreu due to hit and they would have to face Mets closer Edwin Diaz who on looking to close it out and record the save for the 2nd night in a row after closing out last nights ball game. Devers barreled up a fastball from Diaz and lined an absolute rocket deep to RF that had an exit velocity of 108 off the bat for what looked like extra bases but Soto would get back and reach up to make a nice running catch retiring Devers for the 1st out. Bregman popped out to Lindor on the infield grass and the Red Sox were down to their final out. Abreu hit a ground ball up the middle but Lindor would make a nice play ranging to his left and fire a strong throw on the run to nail Abreu at first base ending the game and the Mets hang on to hand the Red Sox a 2-1 loss

                            - The Red Sox got some tough news after the game as Alex Bregman was limping around the clubhouse and appears to have suffered a torn quad that will require a stint on the injured list likely with a recovery time off anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks. Bregman is having an excellent first season in a Red Sox uniform and losing his bat in the lineup is going to be a major challenge for the Red Sox over the next month or two.

                            * RED SOX PROMOTE MARCELO MAYER- The Red Sox are hoping that something positive will come out of the situation with Bregman on the injured list as it opens up a roster spot and playing time on the major league roster which opens the door and creates an opportunity for the organization to get a look at one of their young phenoms as they have two of the top prospects in all of baseball currently dominating at AAA Worcester and knocking on the door just waiting for their opportunity to show that they are ready to to help at the major league level. The Red Sox are promoting the 8 ranked prospect in all of baseball SS Marcelo Mayer to the MLB Roster for what will be his major league debut at 22 years old after being selected #4 overall in the 2021 MLB Draft by Boston.and rocketing through the minor league system while putting up numbers at every level along the way. The Red Sox also have their most exciting prospect in decades in OF Roman Anthony who is the #1 ranked prospect in all of baseball knocking on the door and will likely force the Red Sox into calling him up within the next month and giving the Red Sox the ability to use one of their current OF in a trade package to address a need elsewhere on the roster as Jarren Duran, Wilyer Abreu or Ceddanne Rafaela all have the value to bring a significant return especially if packaged with a prospect or two

                            * TRADE - The Red Sox acquired RP Jorge Alcala from the Minnesota Twins for minor league INF Andy Lugo in a move to strengthen the bullpen by Boston as.Alcala comes to the Red So with a 2.51 ERA in 28.2 innings over 15 appearances on the season with Minnesota.

                            * The Red Sox and Mets will play the 3rd and final game of this 3 game series tomorrow at Fenway Park with New York looking to complete the 3 game sweep after taking the first 2 games of the series. Garrett Crochet will get the start in the finale for Boston looking to play the role of stopper while Tyler Megill will be on the mound for New York in a game that will have a lot of eyes on it watching the MLB debut of prized prospect Marcelo Mayer

                              RECAP
The Mets went down 1-2-3 against Garrett Crochet in the top of the 1st while the Red Sox came out swinging the bats against Tyler Megill in the bottom of the 1st as Jarren Duran led off with a double and Rafael Devers drew a walk before Rob Refsnyder who laced a RBI double in the gap to drive in a pair and give Boston a quick 2-0 lead. Trevor Story singled and you could feel the excitement from the Fenway Park crowd for the first career at bat for one of the top prospects in all of baseball as Marcelo Mayer stepped to the plate with runners on the corners and 1 out. Mayer would get the green light with a 3 & 0 count from Alex Cora and Megill threw a fastball over the plate that Mayer lined into CF for a RBI single making it 3-0. Crochet had allowed 1 hit and recorded 3 Ks through his first 3 innings of work and the Red Sox were threatening to blow the game open in the bottom of the 3rd after Devers drew a walk and singles by Wilyer Abreu and Trevor Story would load the bases with 1 out. The crowd at Fenway Park would rise to their feet as Marcelo Mayer stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and a chance to do damage in just the second at bat of his major league debut after ripping a RBI single to CF in his first at bat. Mayer would get a slider over the plate from Megill and drive it high and deep to CF for what looked like it might be a grand slam but Tyrone Taylor would get back to make the catch on the warning track as Devers tagged and scored and Mayer picks up his 2nd RBI of the night making it 4-0. The Mets got on the board in the top of the 4th when Crochet located a fastball low and away but Juan Soto was able to drive it high and deep into the monster seats in LF for an impressive opposite field HR cutting the deficit to 4-1. Crochet was through 6 innings and had thrown 87 pitches while recording 6 Ks in the ball game while Justin Garza replaced Megill on the mound and pitched a scoreless bottom of the 6th to send the game to the 7th inning with Boston leading 4-1. Crochet was up to 96 pitches after retiring the side in the top of the 7th and Rafael Devers would add an insurance run in the bottom of the 7th when he launched a solo into the Red Sox bullpen off Garza making it 5-1. Crochet returned to the mound for the top of the 8th with Whitlock ready in the pen and he would retire the first two batters before Winker lined a single to LF bringing up Juan Soto with 2 outs and Pete Alonso on deck as the Mets try to get back in the ball game. Crochet would get Soto to ground out on pitch #112 of the night to finish his outing and the top of the 8th with the score 5-1. Boston would add another insurance run on a RBI double from Narvaez in the bottom of the 8th making it 6-1 and we would head to the 9th inning with the Mets coming up to bat trailing 6-1 and Luis Guerrero coming on to pitch for Boston. Guerrero struck out Alonso on a 99 mph fastball and got Alvarez to ground out to Story and the Mets were quickly down to their final out and Guerrero would strikeout Nimmo looking on a nasty back door slider to end the ball game and give the Red Sox a 6-1 win in the series finale

                                RECAP
The Orioles opened the scoring against Brayan Bello in the top of the 1st when Gunnar Henderson launched a 2-run HR to CF giving Baltimore an early 2--0 lead. The Red Sox got on the board against Cade Povich in the bottom of the 2nd on a RBI double to RF by Marcelo Mayer cutting the deficit to 2-1. Brayan Bello got settled in after the Henderson HR in the 1st and was up to 7 Ks after striking out the side in the top of the 4th and Trevor Story drove a pitch from Povich into the Red Sox bullpen giving Boston a 3-2 lead. Bello continued to pitch well and was up to 9 Ks through 6 innings while Povich pitched a scoreless bottom of the 5th and Andrew Kittredge came on to pitch a scoreless bottom of the 6th for Baltimore sending the game to the 7th inning with the Red Sox leading 3-2. Bello was over 90 pitches as he returned to the mound for the top of the 7th and Tyler O'Neill led off with a single to LF with Garrett Whitlock and Justin Wilson getting warm in the bullpen for Boston. Bello came back to K Cowser for his 10th K of the night before retiring Westburg and Mountcastle on routine fly balls to finish off another very good start from Bello. Gregory Soto came on to pitch the bottom of the 7th for Baltimore and retired Duran and Devers for two quick outs to start the inning before the inning went off the rails for Soto as the Red Sox bats came alive with 2 outs as Rob Refsnyder doubled and Carlos Narvaez lined a RBI single to CF making it 4-2. Trevor Story was up next and would crush a 417 foot 2-run blast to CF for his 2nd HR of the game extending the lead to 6-2 and Romy Gonzalez followed with a 413 foot blast to CF as Boston goes back to back making it 7-2. Justin Wilson took over for Bello and pitched a 1-2-3 top of the 8th and Yennier Cano pitched a scoreless bottom of the 8th sending the game to the 9th inning with Boston leading 7-2. Justin Wilson returned to the mound with a pair of lefties due up after he only needed to throw just 6 pitches in the top of the 8th and Baltimore would come up to bat trailing 7-2 with Gunnar Henderson, Ryan O'Hearn and Tyler O'Neill due to hit. Henderson lined a rocket into the LF corner to lead off the 9th but Jarren Duran got over to it quickly and fired a perfect throw to second base to nail Henderson trying to stretch it into a double for the 1st out. O'Hearn would go strikeout on a fastball up and in for the 2nd out and the Orioles were down to their final out. Wilson left a cutter out over the plate to Tyler O'Neill who launched a solo HR to CF cutting the deficit to 7-3 with 2 outs. Alex Cora stuck with Wilson to face one more batter as lefty hitting Cowser stepped in and Wilson would strike him out for the final out giving the Red Sox 7-3 win to open the series

                                GAME NOTES
                                * Brayan Bello continues to give the Red Sox quality starts and Trevor Story broke out of his season long slump hitting 2 home runs and the Red Sox open the 4 game series with a 7-3 victory

                                * The Red Sox improve to 33-19 while the Orioles fall to 27-23 and are now 5.0 games back of the 1st place Red Sox in the AL East Standings

                                * Trevor Story has struggled mightily over the first 51 games of the season as he came into tonights game hitting .231 with 1 HR & 9 RBI on the season and could be in danger of losing his job if rookie phenom SS Marcelo Mayer is hitting well and needs to move off of third base when Alex Bregman returns from injury. Story has started swinging the bat better over the last week making more hard contact and finally gave the Red Sox a big night at the plate going 2 for 4 with 2 HR & 4 RBI and Story is now hitting .238 with 3 HR & 13 RBI.

                                * Carlos Narvaez went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles & 1 RBI and Romy Gonzalez went 2 for 4 with a HR & 1 RBI for Boston

                                * The Orioles were led by Gunnar Henderson (2 for 4 with HR & 2 RBI) and Tyler O'Neill (2 for 4 with HR & 1 RBI). Henderson is now hitting .249 with 6 HR & 18 RBI while O'Neill is hitting .232 with 11 HR & 25 RBI on the season

                                * Brayan Bello missed the first few weeks of the season with a spring training injury that delayed his preparation for the season but Bello has been excellent in his 6 starts since joining the team as he came into tonights game with a record of 4-0 with a 1.71 ERA on the season. Bello turned in another strong performance as he pitched 7 innings allowing 2 runs on 8 hits while striking out 10 Orioles hitters to earn the win and improve to 5-0 with a 1.84 ERA in 7 starts on the season

                                * Cade Povich pitched 5.0 innings allowing 3 runs on 7 hits with 6 Ks for Baltimore and took the loss falling to 3-3 with a 3.99 ERA

                                * The Red Sox and Orioles will play the 2nd game of this 4 game series tomorrow at Fenway Park with Hunter Dobbins making the start for Boston while Zach Eflin takes the mound for Baltimore

RED SOX TRADE RAFAEL DEVERS -
The Red Sox shocked the baseball world after the game when news broke that the Red Sox have traded Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants. The Red Sox and Devers have had issues since prior to spring training when Devers was angry that the Red Sox signed Alex Bregman and asked Devers to move to DH as he was the worst defensive third baseman in MLB last season while Bregman has won multiple gold golves and is a superior to Devers defensively. Devers would show up late to spring training and made things difficult at every turn as he refused to help the team by moving to first base when Triston Casas suffered a season ending knee injury and then refused to play third base after Bregman was injured. The Red Sox apparently had enough of Devers act and lack of leadership as they now had a $30m a year DH who has refused multiple times when Alex Cora asked him to do something that will help the team. The Giants will pay 100% of the ramining years on Devers contract and will send the following players to Boston:
---- SP Kyle Harrison who made 24 MLB starts last year as a 22 year old rookie. Harrison has been pitching at AAA Sacramento to start this season and will report to AAA Worcester to get acclimated to the Red Sox organization
---- RP Jordan Hicks who will strengthen the Red Sox bullpen as the 28 year old is capable of giving you multiple innings and features a fastball that often hits 100+ mph on the radar gun and has been clocked as high as 105 mph. Hicks is currenotly on the injured list with a sore toe but should be activated by Boston in the next week or so
---- OF James TIbbs who was the Giants 1st round pick last year in the 2024 MLB Draft at #13 overall. Tibbs is highly regarded for his bat as he hits for average with plus raw power and the Red Sox are certainly envisioning Tibbs and Roman Anthony mashing in the lineup together in the near future. Tibbs will report to AA Portland and instantly become a top 10 and maybe top 5 prospect in the Red Sox oranization
