*I’m only using normal swing in 0-0, 1-0, 2-0, 3-0, 2-1, 3-1 counts. Using contact swing in all other counts. This rule applies about 99% of the time unless there’s a specific situation that calls for something different. This approach has slightly raised my batting average while lowering my HR output.*

My goal is always to make the least amount of slider changes as possible. I like to try and trust that the devs have put enough hours into the game to know how things play out over a larger sample size. Unless something really stands out to me as a glaring issue, I won’t change the slider.

Human Starter Stamina up to 6.

Now that I’m in the dog days of summer, it’s been pretty obvious that this slider needs to go up 1 tick. I’ve tried not to touch it but I’ve gotten to the point where I have no choice.

We’ve played 15 games in 16 days, so basically no off days for the last 3 times through the rotation. My pitchers are able to go 90+ pitches regularly, which feels about right. The problem is they aren’t recovering their stamina fast enough when we don’t have any days off. It’s become a snowball effect where basically you can’t get your starters back to full stamina unless you skip their start or they have an outing where they only throw 40 pitches. I do like the strategy of maybe having to skip a guy for a start here or there but it’s happening to every single starting pitcher on the staff.

I don’t think 6 will affect things too much, as far as how long the starter can go in a game. But it will help them avoid having literally no stamina left after almost every start.

On a side note….I will be constantly updating the second post with my teams stats and our last 10 games played. I will do a mid season full post update around 81 games or the ASG break.

You can also catch some of my games on my twitch. I play every pitch of every game but only stream some of them.

Do you use left stick and key hole pitches? I seem to hit a lot of HRs doing this. Or do you just use timing with no left stick

The first thing I would do if I’m mashing too many HR is look at my pitch speeds. If you’re comfortable at the plate on high velocity (95+), you should start by upping your pitch speeds. If you’re easily turning on those high velocity pitches then your pitch speeds are probably too low. Another thing to do is adjust your approach. Try to stay back and hit the ball up the middle or over the second baseman’s head for a right handed hitter. If you’re trying to pull everything you’re going to hit more HR.

I definitely key hole pitches and I very rarely use the left stick, only in very specific situations. I’ve only been averaging about 1 HR a game for the past few weeks in my franchise after I made a change to my approach. One game it just clicked that I’m striking out a lot and the “normal” swing this year feels a lot more like the “power” swing of years past. Which makes a lot of sense, since in todays game everyone is swinging for the fences. This is when I decided to stop using the “normal” swing so often. Instead a majority of my swings now come with the “contact” swing. The only time I use the “normal” swing is when I have a 0-0, 1-0, 2-0, 3-0, 2-1, 3-1 count. For the other 6 counts I always “contact” swing. So since those other 6 counts are much more common, I tend to use “contact” swing a lot more than “normal” swing now. You can definitely still hit HR with the “contact” swing but it’s a lot more wall scrapers and doubles in the gap, rather than the no doubt shots you would get with the “normal” swing.

Since tweaking my approach, going more up the middle, using a lot more contact swing, my HR total has been low last 15 games. Haven’t touched a single slider.

                    Last 15 games

                    Doubles: 33 (2.2 per game)

                    HR: 14 (0.9 per game)(4 games with 0 HR)

CPU just had a 6 run inning. They had 6 singles and three walks in the inning. Every one of their hits was below 95 mph. One of the craziest innings I’ve had this season. The Ump was squeezing the hell out of me and I walked in 2 runs.
