PS4 Platinum headset with 3D audio

Just wanted to throw this out there if anyone was looking at picking them up. I was leary because of the $200 Canadian price tag but OS user The Jare Bare said they were awesome so I picked some up. They are honestly incredible. So if anyones on the fence, pick them up you wont regret it. Make sure you load the mlb the show 17 presets. They are tuned really well and the 3d audio is truly amazing.

I was thinking about getting these good to know they are good, I still have my Gold Headset and I liked the MLB Sounds setting last year.

I used the gold ones last year as well so I was definetly not sure if i should upgrade but the 3D audio made me jump and im so glad I did.

I don't think this is truly 3D audio. I think it's just the headset companion app. Because it sounds the same on the Gold headsets. When I play Uncharted 4 and Horizon Zero Dawn it tells me "3D Audio Enabled" you are not hearing 3D audio, you are hearing the companion app which is the same across the gold and platinums. When Playing Horizon Zero Dawn or Uncharted you can hear above you, below you sounds travel up and down and all around, this is just a hoax.

3D Audio is not enabled in MLB The Show 17, they probably forgot to add 3D audio, and the settings only say "headphones".

Where does it say 3D audio? I'm at work, I scrolled through the settings and only came across Headphones.

Edit: Looking at the settings now, all it says in each sound format is, "this will be over ridden if 3D audio is detected" paraphrasing. The kicker is when you play horizon or uncharted, once it is known that your headset is connected it will tell you "3D audio enabled", this doesn't say anything about 3D audio.

I dont think im understanding. The pop up for the headphones says 3d audio enabled. Your saying that in game it should say something? According to what i read the game just knows if you have 3d enabled headphones. I dont think you have to change anything in settings. I could be wrong but i know 100% that the platinum sounds way better than my gold but i havent tried horizon or uncharted so i cant really comment. I just dont really think they would lie about 3d audio but again i feel like i might not be understanding.

Just because you turn on VSS/3D audio, doesn't make it 3D. The game has to support it, here's my thread explaining why there is no 3D audio.

Like i said ive never played uncharted or horizon on this headset so clearly I dont know what im missing. I own uncharted though so im going to try it out.

The part though that has me confused is saying that it sounds the same on the gold headset. That for sure isnt my experience. Its hard to explain but i get way more depth on the platinum. Again though i really need to try this with uncharted because it sounds like im really missing the boat here. Thanks for the info.

Since you believe you are getting 3D audio, and you say you have Horizon Zero Dawn. Do this for me, since horizon zero dawn isn't a fast paced game. Go to an area with some machines that makes noise, like a strider or a scrapper. Hide in the high grass and pan the camera around and tell me you can't tell the difference. In the Show, if you're batting left handed the ump calls come from the right side which should have been your first indicator, your second indicator should have been if you're in player lock or RTTS. The Yells make no sense if your dugout is on the left or behind you that is where they should come from not from the right speaker. This has nothing to do with an action game, this has to do with 3D Position and directional audio. If you can't tell the difference from a surround sound system versus a 3D audio system then I understand.

I dont have horizon. I have uncharted and ive recently tried it. It is definetly incredible. I just fail to see the reason you wont let this go. If SDS says the 3d audio works as intended i believe them. It seems its not up to your standards which is fair, but you seem to want everyone to feel like you. I just really dont agree. I think it sounds great. Ill agree its not on the level as uncharted but its apples and oranges like steve said. Its not an action game. Just because i have a different view, it doesnt mean either of us are right but it seems like you want it to come down to right and wrong. Im going to leave this conversation because we clearly have 2 different experiences and its all been said. You dont think there is 3d audio, thats truthfully fair for you to think that but i truly disagree. No point in going over it anymore but i do appreciate the discussion and you definetly gave me a lot to think about so thanks for that.
