I can't wait to get my hands on this game. It looks great!

The partnership with EA will only help.

The next logical step will be some sort of optional "arcade type" involvement- why else would EA be involved?  Heads up Sony!

EA isn't really involved. They're just a distribution partner through their Origin service.

They have no involvement with the development of the game and more than likely never will.

OOTP is pure sim, arcade will not be an option for this series IMO

Ballparks look great. Hoping someday they create all of the old, now demolished ballparks.

Would love to see all of them, for example:
            Ebbets Field
            Old Comiskey
            League Park (Cleveland)
            Forbes Field
            Early Tigers Stadium (Navin Field?)
            Shibe Park
            Sportsman's Park
            Etc.

Even the less-than-great stadiums like Three Rivers, Veterans and Riverfront would be incredible to have as options.

I'm fairly new to OOTP so maybe there are ways to make this happen? If so, how do you guys go about making it happen?

These animations may seem like nothing to some, but this is everything to me and may be the reason I get this game and not The Show this year. As deep as this series tends to be, I need visual stimulation in my games. It's just how I am. I had fun playing past games, but I got tired of just simming games quickly or reading the commentary log to understand what was going on. Even though the animations will be a bit basic in year one they will really change the game for me.

Hopefully they continue to build on these animations. Who knows, if they do, we may have a game in a few years that has this deep franchise and some really realistic looking parks/players/gameplay.

@MikeShot: There will be a mod for OOTP 19 shortly after (or even on) launch day that includes 200+ historical ballparks. We did not add them to the game itself due to licensing issues, but a OOTP community member (silvam14) made it happen via the mod. Just awesome.

Yes, this is just the start, we'll continue to add and fine-tune animations throughout the year. They already look great and add a lot to the in-game experience, but it will evolve in the next years and become totally awesome once we add that nifty 3D ballpark construction kit we have planned

Thanks for the info. I'm sure I'll be back on this board trying to figure out how to implement them. But great news nonetheless!

One more noob question: Does the game's AI actually take each ballparks dimensions into account? E.G. Power hitting lefties at Yankee Stadium homer more...Or would the mod of old parks be more cosmetic to see during in-game sims? Thanks again for the info. Very excited to get going in OOTP! Been 10 years since my last game.

Would this link be what you are looking for? It has a decent bit of 3D stadiums and the forum post contains instructions on how to use them.

You'll have to un-RAR them and then go into the "edit ballpark" for each team you want to update and point OOTP at the correct files. This is for what I assume will be the classic 3D mode and they should work for the new 3D as well.

Wow, this is great, thanks for the link and additional information! Very helpful. Downloading the park files now! Looking forward to a historical league with proper environments.

Park factors are a part of the game.

If it is like past years the mod isn't only graphical. It will be a ballpark you can select to play in. With that will come the ballpark factors for that park.

And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

                              Never say never.

I can think of another largely sim-oriented series that had an "arcade" or at least a "you can watch them play" mode...

                              Baseball Pro.

OOTP might be heading closer to that direction.
