As far as the issue you're seeing, what do you have scouting accuracy set to? What about ratings relative to? I was seeing something similar when the game first released, but it turned out I had the ratings set relative to A ball
I usually set accuracy to low, but I tested this on 100%.

I haven't actually played through a full season yet in 25 to test this in other scenarios, but I was messing around with the latest beta patches in a historical league (starting 2023). I simmed to the next available draft and there were over 2000 players at an 80 potential (again low scouting). I flipped this to 100% scouting just to see if my scout was terrible, and the distribution was basically the same. *Note that the standard league with real players seemed to be properly distributed.

I'm guessing that the problem is just the sheer number of players created for the draft pool (80k). I didn't change any other settings to get here (still a 15 round draft). Just a default historical game starting in the year 2023. Also possible that the game just glitched.

Regardless I still think that a feeder system would be interesting in order to get a larger sample size on prospects (though I would miss seeing real high school and colleges next to player names).

I keep going back and forth on whether to get the new version

Can someone break down some of the biggest improvements to 25?

Also do must of you do challenge mode?

Can anyone recommend a tutorial or a beginners guide to this game on YT or Reddit or even on here. I’ve been wanting to play this game for a while I bought it during the pandemic when I was home bored and never played or bother to learn.

I’m an avid baseball fan and mainly play the show franchise mode with true sim rosters from these forums. So I know the sport but these simulator type games appear really daunting and scary to go in blind lol.

        Much appreciated!

Best YTers for OOTP are https://www.youtube.com/@pfholden and https://www.youtube.com/@oldschoolsports. Both have videos covering the basics, settings, etc. while also doing short-term and long-term saves.

Here are all the updates/changes brought to OOTP 25: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1...it?usp=sharing. The biggest features in my opinion are the reworked ratings system (much better now), player development lab to give you more control, licensed two new international leagues (GB and Netherlands), fixed a lot of the issues with historical saves, and a few more minor things. There's also a new Drive to the Pennant mode, but it's not available yet. I can't speak to any PT updates because I do not play that mode.

Anyone having this issue or maybe its a setting I need to change

When I am playing the game, I do not do pitch by pitch I just hit the swing away button. But then the count shows up and either an out lights up, a run shows on the board, or shows a runner on base before the pitch is thrown, I already know what the outcome will be before the ball floats onto the field

I've been seeing this too. Not every play, but it happens a few times each game. Definitely seems to be a bug. I noticed it more since the last patch.

I've read a few people mention this in the OOTP forums as well. I play the game like Billy Beane, I just GM the hell out of my team every day then look away when they play games.

So I take it there is no way to remove that part of the scoreboard in the game?

Other OOTP youtuber that's solid is Avguardian - very very slowly paced, but he goes into detail about his thoughts and decisions which can be quite good.

Yeah agreed - the in game views need some work so I just usually sim and view box scores

I recently started playing this again, and a QoL update that I have wanted for a while is more info than just "injury diagnosis pending" when a guy gets hurt. I like the delayed reporting overall to simulate it taking a few days to get a MRI or something, but there should be an indicator as to the severity of the injury at the time of the injury. We don't need to immediately know that this guy is out for 6 months, but it would be nice to know what happened and what the suspected injury is. Did something pop while he was running the bases and they are checking to see if he tore his ACL? Or maybe he tripped rounding 2nd but initial diagnosis was that it did some seem serious.

Started an A’s play through after re watching money ball and getting inspired. Used the “Start Today” option, so we started at the end of 2024, in the offseason.

We felt like this was the year to start making moves. We’ve had the #1 or #2 farm system for multiple years now, and we’re starting to see our first prospects make the majors. We went with almost all high schoolers in the draft, so this has been a long build up.

Since we could finally see the light at the end the tunnel, we started making some trades to get some proven major leaguers to go with our up and coming prospect core.

                              NYY Receive
SP Jeff Potts (#99 prospect - 50 POT)
                              SP Dylan Fritsch (#188 - 45)
                              SP Alan Couey (#102 - 50)
                              LF Lamar Edwards Jr. (#357 - 55)
LF John Nelson (UR - 50)
                              OAK Receive
                              C Austin Wells (45 OVR)
                              3B Justin LeBron (60)
                              RP Joel Lara (50)

                              LAD Receive
                              CF Noah Wilson (#103 - 50)
                              OAK Receive
                              RP Tyler Fay (50)

We had an absolutely outstanding season, seeing 5 of our top prospects have major contributions to the season. Including finding our ace of the future.

                              SP (L) Mike Lockett - 70 OVR 80 POT - 21 YO - Round 1, Pick 3, 2027
                              24 GS - 152.2 IP - 2.95 ERA - 0.98 WHIP - 166K/32BB

We took the season all the way down to final day. We were never more than 5 games over or 5 games under .500 the entire season! Last game of the season was against the Astros with identical 80-81 records. We were tied for the second and third wild card spot, and only 1 game ahead of the Rangers, who were on the outside looking in. The winner of the Oakland/Houston game will be guaranteed the #2 wild card spot and the loser might be out of the playoffs completely. We lose in heart braking fashion, end the season 80-82. With an identical record as Texas, we miss out on the playoffs on a f***ing tie breaker.

Going into to next season we still have the #4 farm system, even after graduation alot of our top prospects this season. We still have 4 players in the top 50 overall. This should give us even more MLB ready players for next season either via trades or the prospects themselves.
