Well I never tried any of these ASB games before, i went from a ALL EA loving guy, to trying out all 3 mlb games last year and sticking with SCEA's MLB 06. Now i want a game that sort of resembles that game and to hold me over until MLB 06:THE SHOW comes out, you know get me ready for some MLB gaming.

I mentioned the out of town scoreboards and signs such as the Citgo sign at Fenway. You will also see the fans putting up "K" signs every time the home pitcher gets a strike out at different stadiums (maybe all??).

In the beginning of the season, the Ivy at wrigley is Brown and it turns green as summer gets into full swing. Jets fly by at Shea Stadium.

And the announcing to always did a pretty good job of sounding like a real broadcast....but that is just my opinion.

      I can't remember much else...It has been a while.

Nobody has captured the feel of the stadiums as well as the ASB developers did. Collision detection was great, the stadiums were spot on, plus they had a ton of retro stadiums, future stadiums, and fantasy ones (play in the Zentmeyer Dome). The aesthetics in each park are unparalleled to this day.

However, gameplay was lacking a bit. A lot of balls going up the middle and not down the lines, slow runners, supermen fielders, etc.

The pickup mode was very original, and had four parks to its credit.

Front office mode had a lot (options, 40-man roster) that no one has added to their games since. Unfortunately, the front-end menus made it a pain to navigate.

I might pick this up on a whim if I see it at EB Games when I go to pick up MVP NCAA. There are just so many good details that the other companies haven't picked up on for some reason. The Ivy and realistic ads are just two of many details that will appeal to BASEBALL fans. Isn't this the game where pitchers wore jackets on the basepaths?

EDIT: Lot of stuff I forgot. Stadium tours, spanish announce team, some of Steve Lyons' monologues if you set your controller down for too long, in-game saves.

Best atmosphere in a baseball game to date.
Don't forget stadiums getting "dressed" for opening day and playoff and W.S. games!
Pitchers wearing thier jackets in the cold months when on base and players blowing "smoke"
In game sports ticker updating games in the league.
So many good things in ASB05 including a great manage only mode!
Let's hope other developers pick up on some of these things and improve on them.

            Knight, ole buddy,

I've been telling Joe how to tweak the game when he gets it, he might PM you also.

I tell you, if you could save a roster (make all the trades/etc) and then start a season/franchise, chose a team, I'd be playing it today, but man, they made it hard with having to chose a team before you can do all that.

              I hear ya' Jim.

One of the few things I really, really dislike about the game.
I don't even try to stay current anymore....I just keep playing my Met franchise. I'm in my 5th season and still going strong.
I can't win a W.S. to save my life though!

Yeah, I forgot about Homerun balls bouncing of the rafters or whatever it came into contact with. Yeah, it may sound kind of dumb, but there is just something a little more gratifying about hitting a HR and having it bounce off something as opposed to just disappearing.

you're right....as I'm sure you know, MVP has that visual on lock. Last night I was playing an exhibition between the Mets and Dodgers at Spring Training Stadium Three....this is your pretty much typical Spring Training facility, but the highlight if you will, is a massive closed-in stadium just beyond the right field wall. I was playing as the Mets. Carlos Delgado took Brad Penny deep to right-center...441' deep. The ball hit the outside of the stadium wall about 2/3 of the way down....what a visual! I must have replayed it about 4 or 5 times...lol

Visuals wise i never liked MVP, it looked too bland and not "Authentic MLB" enough for my taste.

No need to take offense, he is just stating his opinion.

Some things look alot better in MVP, but I also think ASB had a more authentic look. Not so much with the close ups, but they did a real nice job with the panoramic shots. The background in MVP alwasy looked kind of "Hazy" to me.
