True-To-Life 'Ball Physics'...Are You Satisfied With YOUR Game?

Here's another one for you all. And be HONEST. We all know about the 'fanboys', b.s. artists, folks with agenda and the like, but I'm gonna put this out there to you all:

For those of you who have played MORE than one type of game (so at least you have something to make a comparison with), which game to you, has the best, most true-to-life ball physics?

When I say 'ball physics', I'm talking line drives that SLICE, home runs that SLICE and/or DRIFT based on how they're hit, batted balls that REALLY foul DIRECTLY back behind the catcher, batted balls that almost appear to KNUCKLE DOWN to the outfield because they're hit with top spin (the replay would show the top half of the ball was struck), batters who are jammed---hitting pitches that upon replay review---SLICE the ball other way, batted balls that riccochet off of a player in a true way, batted balls that start out fair---only to SLICE right into the foul pole, balls that hit the outfield wall and never bounce off the wall the same way, etc.

NOTE: IF you've only played ONE of the baseball sim games that's out, then talk about the ball physics your game has or those you've never seen. and how satisfied you are either way.

    Holla!

Well, the ball physics in MLB 2K5 are completely off.

    Let's say it like this:

They got absolutely nothing right in the way that a ball should carry or travel in this game. Ground balls being affected by wind, foul balls tailing about 50 feet, and impossible hits that are made visual on this game. Everything about it, even the pitches, make this game look much worse than it actually should be. From videos so far, it does not look like MLB 2K6 has changed much.

MVP 06 is pretty good with the slice of the ball. It's really only noticible with the vector line, which is a terrible feature anyway, but it is pretty good.

I'm not going to say that it's the best, cause I haven't tried 2k since 2k3 and MLB since like 99.

Well, to me, it sounds like you're not giving other games a fair enough chance. Both games have (in my mind) vastly improved for you to at least give them a try.

I am going to try both this year, MLB on PSP and 2k on 360.

I dunno, guess I either stopped playing so much baseball or didn't feel the need to try another game.

However, I do want an MLB game this year.

Yeah, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. The thing about games if I repeatedly buy the same game every year is that... you may not feel it... but once you try another game, you admire a change of pace and feel for a while. You find out that your game has just grown stale to you. You probably know the feeling... of the 1st day of owning a game compared to the 212th day. It just feels so much better.

Man, I'm not sick of MVP in the least.

I created the college I'll be going to in the fall and I've been very happy with it. I had gotten through like 80 games in my play-all-games MVP 2005 dyn... But it's nice to look at all other competitors I guess.

Not saying that you'd be sick of it, but that you've grown so used to it. When I say stale, I mean the same thing. So, like, when you hear a different sound of the bat, or see a different camera angle in some other game, you just think for a sec like, "Whoa, something I haven't seen/heard before." Fresh things just always feel good for a little bit is what I'm saying. You haven't found the little cheese things to do in 'this' situation, or you haven't heard 'this' line of commentary before, or whatever.

                Sort of hard to explain.

...Ping is new to me.. but I get what you're saying. (Not to be dense, but are you accusing me of cheesing? I assure you that I do not.)

I do understand what you're talking about.

Re: True-To-Life 'Ball Physics' @ Blzer

                    Dang....

As you probably know, I'm all for MVP 2005...now next month, I'll have to make that A-1 decision (lol), either stay with MVP 2005 (I continually update my rosters anyway), OR....purchase MLB 2006-The Show. I'm really kind of hesitant about buying MLB 2006-The Show...mainly because I bought MLB 2006 and never got with it. And I never played it long enough to witness the bugs and glithces....I did like the graphics....and some of the stadium/background detail. But...in the final analysis, time will tell.

                    peace!

I liked the ball physics in Mvp05 and Mlb 06.

The biggest flaw in the Mvp physics' ocurred when ground balls made it to the outfield, they would keep rolling until they hit the wall. Overall the ball traveled pretty true in the air and bounced accordingly. The hit variety in this game was top shelf and both this and the physics have only gotten better in the 06 version of the game.

Last year, the ball physics were also very good in Mlb 06. I think this game was stronger in ground balls when it came to how the ball reacted when it hit the ground. You would also see the mini bounce on a solid single when it rolled in the outfield grass. The bunted ball physics were also fantastic because any ball that would hit the ground with a spin was translated very well when it would roll, especially the ones with backspin on them.

There definately needed to be more hit variety in mlb06 and I think that would have shown the physics off better. Lets hope for this year!

You just described my experience with MVP, which i played all of them, gave no chance to any other game. Well last year i got all 3 and when i played mlb06 i got that feeling and realize i wasted my money and time on mvp and mlb was the truth.
