Your Top 10 Baseball Games Ever

"YOUR" as this is purely a list of personal choice. For example, I've heard great things about Ken Griffey Jr.'s Winning Run on the SNES, but I only played it once, therefore it didn't make the list.

    Here's mine:

    10. Bases Loaded (NES)
How cool was the over-the-pitcher cam for it's time?

    9. R.B.I Baseball (NES)
Little pudgy guys proved that you didn't need a Major League License to have FUN.

    8. World Series Baseball (Saturn)
    Great game. Plain and simple.

    7. Hardball! (PC)
    Just plain fun.

    6. Tony LaRussa Baseball (Genesis)
This game had it all... including attendance!

    5. World Series Baseball 2K3 (PS2)
First game that really captured the essence and atmosphere of a Major League park (for me, anyway).

    4. High Heat Major League Baseball 2003 (PS2)
My first exposure to the series. Dated graphics at the time, but an unparalled sim experience.

    3. Baseball Simulator 1.000 (NES)
Full stat tracking and season mode done right for the first time that I saw.

    2. Baseball Stars (NES)
The fact that you could create and manage your own team was ultra cool.

    1. MLB 2006: The Show (PS2)
THE best baseball game to date. Period.

Re: Your Top 10 Baseball Games Ever

    Ok here goes mine

    10) Ken Griffey Jr Baseball (N64)
me n my friend used to play season after season in that game. lots of fun.

    9) Triple Play Baseball '98 (PSX)
It was the one with Brian Jordan on the cover so i may be off with the year, but that game was great... although i knew how to cheat n throw perfect games at will (9 in one year with david wells) lol hey i was only 15.

    8) Baseball Stars (NES)
Yes creating your own team was beyond fantastic for its time.

    7) All Star Baseball 2004 (PS2)
Great game, woulda been higher if i didnt get fired from blockbuster because of it .. LONG STORY lol

    6) MVP Baseball 05 (PS2)
One of the better baseball games i have played, after a while got too easy tho.

    5) World Series 2k3 (XBOX)
The second installment with Jason GIambi as the cover man. Me n my friend ran 2 franchises where we controlled EVERY team. many long nights spent eating junk food and playing that game.

    4) High Heat 2000 (PC)
My only pc baseball game but i still have it and still fire it up occasionally.

    3) Super Baseball Simulator 1000 (SNES)
I used to edit the teams and make the real guys in the game and yes play full seasons in that as well

    2) Triple Play Gold Edition (Genesis)
Triple Play with Tony Gwynn on the cover. lots of fun and very easy to get the hang of

    1) MLB 06: The Show (PS2)
Eh im a sucker for new stuff and this years game blows EVERY baseball game ever created out of the water.

      2) High Heat 2002 (PC)
Best PC baseball game I ever played, played for three years.

I'm too lazy to do a top 10, but my top 5 would be...

          5. Ken Griffey (SNES)
          4. MVP 06 (Xbox)
          3. ASB 03 (Xbox)
          2. MVP 05 (Xbox)
          1. ASB 05 (Xbox) - Deepest franchise/dynasty in a baseball game to date. As far as I know, it's the only one to include arbitration, rule 5 draft, amature draft on it's actual date, and a ton more that no other game has had.

Re: Your Top 10 Baseball Games Ever

The top 5 are my really good baseball games, everything under that is kinda just filling in the top 10. I did love that old Bad News Baseball game though, it was hilarious.

            1. MVP 2005 (XBOX)
            2. Ken Griffey Jr Baseball (SNES)
            3. MVP NCAA Baseball (XBOX)
            4. High Heat 2004 (PS2)
            5. ASB 04 (PS2) (I think this is the right year, whichever one was first with the expansion mode)
            6. Bases Loaded (NES)
            7. MLB 2006 The Show (PS2)
            8. Bad News Baseball (NES)
            9. Hardball (PC)
            10. Base Wars (NES)

            Atlanta Braves
            - Auburn Tigers - Nashville Predators

Re: Your Top 10 Baseball Games Ever

                7. Baseball Stars (NES) - one of the first with tournament mode, and stat tracking I thought? who thought climbing the wall wasn't the coolest thing ever back then?!
                6. Ken Griffey Baseball (SNES) - one of the most fun hitting and fielding, great control!
                5. High Heat 2002? w/Sammy Sosa (PC) - fantastic roster control, gameplay was only alright, but the franchise was great. all these games if you play with a friend who knows as much about baseball as you, you can have tons of fun just playing franchise mode for seasons on end.
                4. Hardball 2? (Genesis) - the first one with Al Michaels I think. Man, could you edit everything in that game, I made two all stars teams and re-rated everyone and we played series after series in that game.
                3. Inside The Park 4? (PC) - you could play season after season very quickly, and with two people we'd blow throw 2 or 3 seasons a night. The off season is always the most fun in these games.
                2. Front Page Sports 98 (PC) - ridiculously fun franchise, in university my friend and I played that until 2am every night for weeks on end.
                1. MVP 2005 (XBOX) - this game just got everything right as an arcade type game, i guess i just needed one of these after the years of great NES/SNES games and then nothing but PC sims for a long time.

                  1. Bases Loaded--this game was a classic. i remember betting my cousin i could beat him in BL and got him to put his Pete Rose baseball card on the line. Oh no, I bet on baseball.
                  2. Baseball Stars
                  3. Ken Griffey
                  4. MLB 2k5: WSE

                    1. World series baseball 98 (sat) To me this was simply the best baseball game ever. first game to use 3d polygonal players. the pitching was phenominal, the fielding was great, offline throws, strong arms weak arms, great camera angles. you could actually see the ball in the air the whole time. first sliding catches. dirt kicking up. omg this is making me want to go out and get a saturn. this game just brings back so many great memories, long long nights of this game.

                              Here's my Top 7:
                              7) World Series Baseball (Genesis) - First game that felt realistic to me

                              6) Triple Play (PS1) - More arcady than the others on my list, but I had fun with it! Loved the fake advertising! "It's not chicken; it's not pork. It's chork!"

                              5) Major League Baseball (Intellivision) - My introduction into video baseball. Played this every night into the wee small hours.

                              4) Interplay Baseball 2000 (PS1) - Never got the recognition for a excellent simulation during its time. I loved this!

                              3) High Heat Baseball 2004 (PS2) - Probably closest to a simulation IMO. Anyone else remember seeing the umpire call a strike ala Lt. Frank Drebin in the Naked Gun movie?

                              2) MLB (PSP) - Didn't have the frills of its PS2 brother, but it had the gameplay that I have always enjoyed from the series minus the freezing bug. Also the only time I've completed a 162 game season.

                              1) MLB '06: The Show (PS2/PSP) - There's so much that I like about this game. From the commentary and the cutscenes that immerse you into the game, I can't get enough! After planning only to purchase the PSP version, I had to get the PS2 version after reading "all the little things" thread. Can't wait to see this on the PS3!
