    Need Some Advice

I just purchased an XBOX and I also have a PS2. I am trying to decide which baseball game to get. Should I get MLB:The Show, MVP2005 and download updated rosters, or 2K6. I am a busy 45 year old with two boys and not much time to test and tweak games. I like to pop in the disc, use a slider set that most are happy with, and play when I have the time. I am leaning towards MVP but just not sure. Any help would be appreciated.

if you have a ps2, you need to get mlb the show. like you said, you want a game where you don't have to fiddle with the sliders, and so far, i haven't touched the show's sliders. Also, if you have online capabilities, there is a roster update every week for the show. honestly, right now nothing beats the show...my advice, the show is what you should choose brother

Get the show for the ps2. Mlb2k6 is good with some problems, but the Show is definitely the baseball game to have this year. If you are a huge baseball fan you will love what this game does.

Or you could rent all three and decide for yourself.

I would suggest getting MLB The Show for the ps2 if you want to be able to just pop in the disc and play. It is a good game that doesn't require any tinkering and the rosters you can download are pretty accurate.

I prefer MVP over the Show, so naturally I would recommend it. But because you say your life is pretty full, MVP might also be a better choice because IMO it is easier to get a game in. Games on the Show take at least 20 minutes longer than MVP games do. You can shorten the game lengths of the Show by turning off a lot of the presentation stuff, but IMO that's the best part of the Show, so for me that wasn't really a good option when I was playing that game. I'm pretty busy at home as well, I usually just get an hour or so to play a night during the week. Being able to get in a couple games of MVP in around an hour kept me with that game instead of staying with the Show (plus I like MVP's gameplay a little better).

Also, if you just bought an XBox, why not put it to good use, especially if you have the XBox hooked up to a HDTV that will support the 720p that MVP offers. It's also nice not having to deal with memory cards and load times. (FYI: If your way of getting updating rosters for MVP is through the Action Replay device, you will need to copy the roster save from your memory card to the XBox harddrive to use it in MVP. For some reason you can't load a game save from the memory card on MVP.)

            aukevin,

Thanks for the response. I played MVP last year on the PS2 so I am familiar with it's gameplay. I just didn't know if the other two were worth it for someone just trying to get a game in here and there. Thanks for the advice on the Action Replay. I was going out to buy one today and wasn't sure how it worked. I wish the XBOX had a USB like the PS2 has and I can just use a max drive but I am sure AR is just as simple.

yeah the AR is simple. Just follow the install directions and you should be good to go.
