This game is an all time classic. I STILL fire up the old XBox and play games to hear Thom Brennamen on commentary and to use classic uniforms that todays games still don't include. Also HOFers and classic ball parks like Crosley Field.Favorite Sports Teams
NFL - Carolina Panthers
NBA - Charlotte Hornets
MLB - Cincinnati Reds
College Basketball - Wake Forest
NCAA Football - Appalachian StateComment

Yea ASB 05 was my game of choice in 2004.
Graphics wise it was an absolutely beautiful game.
Stadiums, players, animations,
but it lacked in gameplay.
It featured the famous vaccum glove, and it was way too easy.
I found myself having to purposely lose games most of the time to balance out my record.
I had a lot of fun with it though.
It had a great feature call TWIB challenge where u could play out some real scenarios from the 2003 season.
And one of my favorite features in the game beside the user interface
was "Fielder Cam".
It got a lot of harsh reviews but I couldnt play without it.
I got so used to it that it took me a while to adjust when I got MVP 05 a year later.
GREAT game.
Thinking of getting an old xbox to play it again. We play today, we win today, das it!-

Only game I completed two complete 162 game seasons with (never have completed 1 in any other game!).
This game was amazing. The gameplay was lacking in some areas, but I played manage mode only so the issues were minimal for me. The franchise mode was just fantastic and the commentary still hasn't been matched. Just an amazing game, especially for it's time."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." - Rogers HornsbyComment

Re: If anyone plays ASB 05 post comments, questions, or what-nots in here!
So glad to see people are still playing and talking about this game! I still play all the time and I learn new stuff all the time. After all these years, there are still a lot of things I haven't figured out. I've written a list below. I don't sim games, so I haven't played that far into "the future" in Franchise mode, so maybe some of these will be no brainers:
Do teams move into new stadiums automatically in Franchise mode?
I've never had a pitcher get injured. Has anyone had this happen while pitching? Hitting? Why do only some pitchers have health ratings?
What does GP mean in the pause menu? (I think its in the defensive replacement screen) It's not games played...
How do teams play with negative points in Franchise mode and when does it even out?
Is Minute Maid the only stadium with cut scenes on Home Runs?
Does the All Star Game change locations every season?
Does the pitcher effectiveness rating affect your batting cursor size?
Are + pitches better or just faster? Do they drain more stamina?
How do you get back to claim a player off of waivers after hitting "view?"
Do players on computer teams ever show up as on the trade block on the player profiles?
Can you hit a batter intentionally (not using bean) without getting thrown out?
Last but not least...how do you independently control two runners between the same base with classic baserunning?
Also! If anyone has any resources besides gameFAQs for created players, I'd be quite appreciative!Comment

I've never had a pitcher get injured. Has anyone had this happen while pitching? Hitting? Why do only some pitchers have health ratings? yes pitchers can get injured while pitching for sure. Don't know if all pitchers do
What does GP mean in the pause menu? (I think its in the defensive replacement screen) It's not games played... DONT know
How do teams play with negative points in Franchise mode and when does it even out?
Is Minute Maid the only stadium with cut scenes on Home Runs? No most stadiums have their signature celebrations (Mets Apple etc)
Does the All Star Game change locations every season? YES

How do you get back to claim a player off of waivers after hitting "view?"
Do players on computer teams ever show up as on the trade block on the player profiles?
Can you hit a batter intentionally (not using bean) without getting thrown out? YES you can do it a couple of times before getting ejected
Last but not least...how do you independently control two runners between the same base with classic baserunning?

Re: If anyone plays ASB 05 post comments, questions, or what-nots in here!
Thanks for the answers! I've seen computer pitchers get injured a few times while pitching- almost always when they're out of energy and have thrown a ton of pitches. Never happened to me though...Comment

Re: If anyone plays ASB 05 post comments, questions, or what-nots in here!
I actually picked this up again, mostly cause I've been on a baseball history kick and wanted to re-visit the stadium tours that are on the disc. And from there I've actually started playing again, since this game offers a unique combination of stuff that lets me:
1. Start an expansion team in Brooklyn
2. Have them play at Ebbets Field (or 'Retro Dodger' as they call it)
3. Do manage mode with generated counts, which makes games uber-fast and helps gloss over some of the games shortcomings when it comes to controls and glitchiness.
Fielder Cam is also pretty awesome when the CPU is doing the fielding for you.
A lot of love went into this series, clearly. In many ways the classic stadiums in ASB are better crafted than what's currently found in The Show (i.e. a far better version of Forbes Field, not letting rights issues keep them from doing Ebbets, and so on).Comment

Re: If anyone plays ASB 05 post comments, questions, or what-nots in here!
there weren't true SS games in Spring Training, meaning there weren't two separate lineups preset for the games.
What you would do was adjust the lineups yourself beforehand.
One thing I love about this game is it STILL has things I have not seen in a baseball game.
STILL.
thats just crazy.
I personally love the no photo thing for players and when you see a player on the scoreboard, its the player model face!
changing hats.
Oh man, those stadiums.
Seeing Tommy Lasorda and others adorning the wall in Dodger Stadium, the train out yonder in Shea, and when you play at Legends Field [Steinbrenner Field], the real life home of Yankees ST games, you see Raymond James stadium out beyond right field in the distance, exactly where it is in real life!
]WTF lol
The announcing rocks too.
Also like the League Leaders showing in between each half inning in Franchise mode.
Still playing it.Last edited by econoodle; 06-06-2011, 03:18 PM.Comment
