    PureSim 2007

    Anyone get it yet?

I bought and downloaded last night, but haven't explored it yet. I played the 2005 version, though not exhaustively, and really enjoyed it. Solo play can get a little boring with these types of games, but I've found that PureSim's look and feel (and in-game PBP) keeps the game fresh and interesting even during solo play. This year, ball flight has apparently been added to make games even more fun to watch and manage. For an example of the in-game GUI: http://www.puresim.com/2k73.jpg.

More than anything, I feel like Shaun Sullivan's work is worth supporting. He's very responsive to his user community and the game has really made great strides from where it began. The game also has a very active community that does a nice job with ballpark graphics and facepack updates. I haven't compared it to any of the other baseball sims on the market, but the stat tracking for PureSim is very good as well.

For anyone looking for an alternative to OOTP, BBM, or DMB, PureSim is definitely worth a look. Despite my involvement with the OOTP league here, I'll still find enough time to play both games and I really like the direction that PureSim is heading.

http://www.puresim.com/ has a full feature list, for anyone interested.

This one looks and sounds really good. I would like to get a sim PC game for my business trips. Anyone care to comment on this this versus OOTP whihc seems to be the resident favorite? Any input would be great. It is hard to take the XBOX on trips so I can play ASB 2005 so I am really interested in the response.

I'll be buying once the 1.1 patch is released, for the Expansion feature.

You can go through a historical league finally and add the expansion teams as they really entered the league. Here's a post from Shaun (the developer) on the Matrix forums regarding this:

Basically the feature allows the league to expand to any of the supported configurations and allows you to move teams around at your discretion to any division simply via selecting the team from a dropdown. There is an expansion draft with roster protection (like what we had in PS 2005)

The feature is 100% complete so, I may release a 1.1 update sooner than even I was planning. One other thing I am considering now that I have robust flexible expansion is looking at providing an option for auto-expansion based on history when playing with real players. That said, you can now at least manually expand your association to mirror history

Here are some screen shots for those that are interested.

That expansion feature sounds great--it was definitely my favorite option from ASB. Can you import MLB team logos as well? I saw the various stadium pictures folks have made for import but didn't see those.

I guess I'll be waiting for that expansion pack too before I give it a try. Thanks.

I'm real interested in this --- I would probably be doing career simming starting in 1991 or importing Pirate HOF's into 1991 -- really just single player. ---- I have preordered OOTP but would not be averse to both ---- Can anyone compare these 2 games?

The expansion feature is the one thing OOTP is lacking. It's possible to do it, just takes a little bit of work. I've heard that Puresim is very good, but probably won't have time to play both.

Help me as a console player get with this game please.

I have read all about PureSim and it looks awesome so I will be picking it up this weekend. As a console player who is used to a plug and play type experience, what should I download in addition to PS? I looked on the site and there are facepacks, stadiums, and other add-on. Which should I download (and by which author if possible) to get the best experience possible?

And how is the opposing GM AI? Do they make trades and do they make sense?

And what about other touches of realism such as 15 and 60 day DLs, realistic injuries, September Call Ups, Ametuer and Rule 5 drafts, etc.

              Thanks in advance.

Shaun released a public beta patch 1.02 which has the expansion feature included. The official 1.1 patch will come later in the week.

Is there a demo of this version?
I really like OOTP and am looking forward to the end of the month release...but this could be a nice little game here.

There's not a demo yet, it's rumored to be released after the 1.1 patch.

Well, I just found this on another board, it's a BETA demo that Shaun released. Not the official demo. The official one will be coming later in the week.

Is there another location for the beta patch (1.02)? I get a "file not found" when I click on the file associated with the link above

Me too. I'm assuming that the 1.1 patch will be out soon, so that's why he took it down.

Not sure, the link still works for me.

Another edit - I read to quick, and saw you were looking for the patch and not the demo.

Seems to be echoed by users on the Puresim forums also.
