In all of my years I've never done a historical league with OOTP.
Well this year I'm doing it on the side. The game seems to want to start no earlier than 1901, so that's what I'm doing. Importing real rookies to the teams they belong on, no draft. The only thing that will be our of whack is money. But I'm not going to even mess with that.
Now granted the CPU will make deals, etc. But for fun, let's see where this ends up. WIll the Cubs have another curse? Will Babe Ruth even get to the Yankees? Who will be the all time HR leader? Let's find out.
I'm going to do a season at a time and compare it to what really happened. So here we go, 1901....
Some early news of note:
Philadelphia Athletics: Signed SS N. Lajoie to a 3-year contract extension worth a total of $44,190,000.
Monday, March 25th, 1901: 3B Honus Wagner Decides to Stay in Pittsburgh
Honus Wagner is staying put. The Pittsburgh Pirates' third baseman inked a $21,008,000 extension, and will play in Pittsburgh another 2 years.
Our first trade:
The New York Giants traded 25-year old shortstop C. Hickman and $850,500 in cash to the Chicago Orphans, getting 27-year old starting pitcher J. Taylor in return.
