One of the reasons why you could still pull the ball alot in ASB with a LEFTY batter is because there is a NASTY LEFTY PHYSICS bug in the game that no one seemed to have noticed or even mentioned........It seems to only happen with LEFTY batters tho. If you swing really LATE on a pitch and make contact, you will actually PULL the ball down the first base side rather than going to the opposite field down the 3rd base side. The EARLIER you make contact, the more 'opposite field' your hits will travel.
I certainly dont know how Acclaim missed this one but its a simple thing to fix, if someone would just mention it to them before the new game goes gold. What's actually happening is that the game is just using RIGHTY batter swing TIMING physics for both righties AND LEFTY batters.......so when a righty gets around early, he would pull it down the 3rd base line......the same is happening when a lefty gets around early when in reality, he should be pulling it down the FIRST base line.
Seems like a simple oversite but it flawed the entire LEFTY batting engine.....that's why alot of hits wouldnt make sense, you feel like you really swung late on a screaming fastball but yet you roped it down the first base line....And quite conversely, you probablly were also baffled at times when you got around real early on some junk yet only to poke it toward the 3rd base side....Hope this is fixed for 2004 along with the increased 'fat pitches' the cpu would throw to you when you have POWER swing selected over normal swing allowing for some real easy Homerun blasts.
