    Farting around with rosters

Okay MatthewK came up with a good idea, but haven't heard back from him.

I was fooling around with the SPECIAL FEATURES/ROSTERS and have started changing the Padres to an oldtimer team, saved it and played a bit. What I like about it is when you change an existing pitcher like Eaton to Clay Kirby, it will at least not say Eatons name. That's good.

After saving the roster I went to my hard drive and found a separate ROSTER file, so it CAN be uploaded.

If anyone is interested, here's what I need (as I'm doing the bulk of the work).
Send me your team. Give me at least 45 players. I need their....

    name
    number
    ht
    wt
    handedness, i.e. throws L, bats R
    position

you can post them here, or pm me.

    this is for the xbox.

    Re: Farting around with rosters

I'll send you the Mets. Do you want it in a PM?
I do have a suggestion Jim....before someone sends you a squad you should have them PM you the team....you can then tell them how many players at each position you have on your default roster and what handedness they are...since YOU can't change those things.

      Re: Farting around with rosters

That's sort of extra work for me, looking through every roster that's in the game. I figure if they can give me 45 players I should be able to match 25 of them to what is already there.

This is going to take a little bit of time in between the other stuff I've got going on. I hope to have the Padres finished tonight. I'm actually sitting here with a bunch of baseball cards (I have two albums full of Padres cards since 1969).

Oh....I thought with 45 you were going to fill in the minors. Sorry.
I'll get mine out to you tomorrow Jim.

          Re: Farting around with rosters

Oh, I'm gonna do that as much as possible. It's just that I get 45 I know that I'm not going to match them all up because you can't change the handedness of the players and positions, but with 45 I should be able to do a lot.

Send me as many as you want actually. I'm about halfway through the Padres right now. Relief pitchers, Greg Booker, Dave Tomlin, ouch! But starters like Randy Jones, Bruce Hurst, Ed Whitson, threw in a SP from the first team, Al Santorini. Have backups like Tim Flannery, Gene Richards, etc.

As good as this game looks and plays it will be pretty timeless. I'm looking at the graphics in the game and they are outstanding. Too bad the animations aren't on par, but it's still a pretty game.

What I have to do is go look at the existing rosters and try to fill all the starters rolls first and then the bench players with the new created guys.

Scooter.....GREAT! I'll work on this one today. I think though that team is so heavily loaded with All-Star/HOF types no other created team would have a chance against them. I'll try to put some scrubs in there, if you have any ideas.

Yea Jim, I always like to use the "Baseball Almanac"

A 1957 St. Louis Cardinals roster with with player stats, uniform numbers, salaries, and Opening Day data by Baseball Almanac.

Scooter, you DID miss my favorite player when I was a kid. Don Blazingame. He moved onto the Reds and was playing second when some no account named Pete Rose came along and that was that.

He might have to be your starting second baseman.
