I just got done playing a game of ASB 2003, so I am by no means bashing it, I am saying, and I know you have dealt with it also, that these developers make a lot of false statements about what has been fixed in this years game.

I don't believe much of anything I read on IGN.... but I saw screenshots of the new presentation stuff and it does look better than the stuff Sega has been doing and way better than the ASB stuff from years past. I haven't, however, played the game so I can't really comment on how much that has improved or not.... which has been my point from the get go.

Those guys are in the business of selling games... and I take everything said by reviewers or developers with a grain of salt.

I can only really comment on stuff I've seen with my own 2 eyes... like HH's improved graphics, or WSB's classic player model, or ASB's new menus, or MVP's angled hitting camera. I am going to reserve all gameplay comments until I've actually played the game.

I cannot argue with you about playing the game b/c I quite simply haven't. That was just the one thing I was hoping the previews would be talking about was the focal point at Acclaim this year. It IMO is really close to being the perfect baseball game! You are right about IGN and I admit that is where I read most of this, so I hope just as much as anyone IGN played a very unfinished, unpolished version of ASB 2004! And I have no problem with Guru at all, he knows his s**t, he states his opinion and that is his right, sorry about the fanboy comment!

If I wasn't an ASB fanboy it might have upset me... but I am, so it's all good.

I just want people to try every game this year and not make up their minds before they even come out. I'm buying ASB, HH, and either WSB or Inside Pitch and will rent the others at least.

The gap between the good ones and the bad ones is narrowing this year, so no game should be counted out until you've held the controller in your hands and experienced the game for yourself. Also, remember while reading reviews that some companies go above and beyond the others when wooing the writers. I'm not saying bribe.... I'm just saying that some companies can't compete with paid vacations to San Fran to see a game.

You are absolutely right, the gap is very narrow. I buy at least three baseball titles each year, usually ASB, HH, and WSB. That kind of pisses my wife off, but I would feel cheated if I didn't try them all and pick the one that best fits my preference. I only wish I had the patience to rent, but when you can play it for a week and sell it on Ebay for $40, it makes the purchases worth it to me.
