    ASB2k5 Roster just about complete

I'm working on the pitching rotations right now and then the batting orders and it will be done. If anyone is interested, here's what I've done.

As you know you cannot edit the roster outside of a season mode by making trades and then use that roster in season mode. So I have....

    1. Chosen to make the team the Washington Admirals based on the Washington Nationals. Hey, had to choose someone.

    2. This has caused the Montreal Expos to be a bunch of fakes, or players who are out of the ML. For example the closer for the Expos is John Rocker. You will see guys like Rod Beck, Brian Boehringer, Vinny Castilla, Roy Corcooran, Omar Daal, Ricky Henderson, Joey Hamilton, etc. This is basically a fantasy team.

    3. The AI created an American League team the Edmonton Weasels. You will see players such as Kevin Appier, Shigetoshi Hasegawa, Drew Henson, Billy Koch, Cory Lidle, Eric Owens, Todd Ritchie, Kazuhiro Sasaki, Bubba Trammel, Kevin Young, etc. This is also a fantasy team.

Many, many current players were added. There are a bunch of real players in AAA, some in AA and A players remain the fake names that came with the game.

Player attributes were adjusted so that the gameplays better ball than out of the box, for example (and thanks to MK on some of these), OF range, OF arm strength, Pitchers stamina, etc. Have bumped up some players attributes and toned down some.

Right now I'm finishing the pitching staff rotations, then the lineups and some last minute creations, such as Homer Bailey, Phil Hughes, etc. but it should be ready to go by the end of tomorrow.

    I'll post it here then.

The good thing is if you see anything you don't like you have full edit capabilities to change players numbers, batting stances, ages, etc., etc.

Re: ASB2k5 Roster just about complete

I should be ready with mine shortly after yours Jim.

What I did was....start a franchise with the Mets....then I made all the trades to get each player on the MLB roster..on the MLB roster in the game. A daunting task right there!...

I had to edit some players to make sure each squad was correct....so far I've only had to create one player!

Next I'm going to do the attribute edits for better gameplay...and then, I'll edit the minor leaguers to make everyone in the game a real life player.

Considering the way the game is constructed...you'll either
    A. Have to play as the Mets and either way...you'll have to be their GM.
    or
    B. Set up the Mets and for each series and play as the opposing manager.

I decided to actually start the franchise, because..well...I want to play as the Mets and their GM, but I want the CPU to handle the other teams. This let's me do this!

But I do want other people to enjoy this game so .....

One thing you will have to do either way is set up two controllers and set up the opposing lineups(the CPU has some screwy ideas how to use players) and pitcher or just use a single controller...set up the Mets beforehand.....choose to play as the opposing team...set them up and then before a pitch is thrown.....change the contoller back to the Mets. Nine times out of ten...the CPU leaves your lineup alone.

Either way...it's a blast to play this game with updated rosters. So far I've got the NL completed and with the moving around the AL is already about 1/3 set...so it should go quickly.

I'm looking forward to playing as the Admirals too though!!!

and then, I'll edit the minor leaguers to make everyone in the game a real life player.

Holy smokes!!! I didn't quite go that far, but man, if you do, that's a job and a half. I would say that with mine all the AAA guys are real, a portion of the AA, and probably no A players. But the guys who do use the roster can add players if they wish, it's simple.

There are what, ten extra players on each minor league division. The problem is trying to find a match with batting side and pitching side (bats left, throws right, bats both, throws right), that kind of thing. Those and position are just about the only thing it won't let you change.

I've got a wireless remote so can sit next to my computer and use my MVP editor to check the players that I'm working with, but there are SO many new players since this game came out.

      Man, if Acclaim didn't fold......

However, I would like to personally meet the man who left out roster adjustments BEFORE SEASON/DYNASTY PLAY and personally hit him over the head with a hammer though. Hope it wasn't ASBMan who posts here, lol.

Anyway, have a few teams rotations I need to adjust today, then the lineups.
I took out all the players who are retired, not playing and either made them into new guys are just changed them to a fake player, except for some of the guys I put on the Expos and Weasels.

The real reason I am going to wind up doing this is because with the CPU controlling all the other teams, the call-ups, wether it be for injury or whatever can be quite frequent. So I at least want to see another real player taking that guys place.

I guess I'll do one with MLB rosters and some minor leaguers first...and then post and updated with all real players.

            MK,

Is it real important that each team have 40 man rosters? Does that effect the call ups and such?

I'd at least make 15 or 20 decent minor league players. Even if you don't edit their names and likenesses. They will see time during the season for sure due to injuries and poor play. It's not important for September call ups.

One thing I would like to see some game implement is some sort of rating for call ups and send downs. Something that you can edit for each player. Not that it happens often, but if I edit or create a player into a current superstar...I'll use David Wright as an example.....he has 2 options left.....and even though he's a A and B rated player.....if the CPU feels the need it will demote him or bench him. Not happening. ....but if there was some sort of 1-5 rating for him to be sent down/benched it would go a long way towards helping keep the CPU making smart roster decisions.

Sounds like you guys have put together some great work. I still play ASB 05 often, but I'm wondering if there will be any way for me to use these rosters with my 360 - since thats what I'm playing ASB on.

I didn't even realize it was backwards compatible!
I have a 360....what do you use for the data saves on the 360? I probably will need it sometime, so I won't mind putting it out for both the XBox and the 360 when I'm done.

Honestly I just got my 360, so I have no clue what I'm doing. I'm able to save original xbox files on to the 360's hard drive, but as far as transferring files over I guess the transfer kit may be compatible? I dont have it yet so I'm unable to test it out.

ASB2k5 IS one of the games you can play on the 360.

I'm ALMOST done! Did all the extra players, now for the batting orders and that should do it. Hopefully within the next few days.

Re: ASB2k5 Roster just about complete

                          Last night accomplished the following.

Looked at rosters and added a few more players.

Made sure all SPs had the stamina necessary.

                          Rechecked all starting rotations/closers.

Increased or toned down some player attributes, guys such as catcher Javy Lopez (-), Ryan Howard (+), etc.

finished 25 man rosters (take into consideration that I'm just making a good guess at who will be on the squads opening day).

Only thing to finish is the batting orders and that will be easy.

If anyone has any requests, let me know within the next couple of days.
