Re: Does ASB have warming up pitchers?
does anyone know if they fixed the fact that some pitchers took forever to warm up (and some never did), and if they weren't fully warmed up, they had about 2 good pitches and then went to the crapper?“In my lifetime, we've gone from Eisenhower to George W. Bush. We've gone from John F. Kennedy to Al Gore. If this is evolution, I believe that in twelve years, we'll be voting for plants.” - Lewis BlackComment

Re: Does ASB have warming up pitchers?
The bullpen was good last year, people just didn't understand how to use them. If you used a relief pitcher too often, they don't get all the way warm because they get overused. Same if they go too long between games. If you used them right, about 2-3 times every 5 games they warm up every time. If you brought in a pitcher who wasn't all the way warm, they tired faster and you have to account for that by having someone else up.Comment

Re: Does ASB have warming up pitchers?
No...I would have a guy who hadn't pitched in a week and he still would never warm up.
Maybe the stamina problem is more of a general one, because when relievers were completely warmed up, they could only throw breaking pitches to the first batter.“In my lifetime, we've gone from Eisenhower to George W. Bush. We've gone from John F. Kennedy to Al Gore. If this is evolution, I believe that in twelve years, we'll be voting for plants.” - Lewis BlackComment

Re: Does ASB have warming up pitchers?
As I just said, if you had a pitcher who hasn't pitched in a while, he doesn't get all the way warm. Same as real life, if you give a reliever a week with no work he won't be as sharp as when he's being used normally. It's been my experience that anything longer than 4 games off is too much.Comment

Re: Does ASB have warming up pitchers?
True, but when a guy has been in the bullpen for *5 FREAKING INNINGS* he's going to be fully warmed up. Not like the guy has been off for a year.“In my lifetime, we've gone from Eisenhower to George W. Bush. We've gone from John F. Kennedy to Al Gore. If this is evolution, I believe that in twelve years, we'll be voting for plants.” - Lewis BlackComment
