So is it worth buying?

Depends on what you are looking for. If you are looking for an MLB type experience then no. I only got a quick 4 innings in so I can't really give any impressions yet.
Luckily it looks like the menu system is the same as last years so the "Guide" (you can get on gamespot) should help manuever around to help fiigure some things out.

When I get home I will try and play a few and post impressions.

Anyway I have this pre ordered but people ARE saying that the framerate is horrendous? But then again these same people said the framerates were very bad in the PS3 version of MLB 2k7 which i personally either didn't see or got used to after playing

I personally don't see a frame rate issue. The main reason I get this game is for the career mode (like what The Show has this year).

Not knowing Japanese takes away from the game obviously as I know I miss out on a lot. I've asked for help a few times on Japanese baseball site but no one there seems to want to help a new comer to the series.

that's what i'm kinda getting from that forum as well.

i ask simple stuff and get very vague and almost hypocritical responses

can i ask you if you played MLB 2k7 on the PS3 at all and if the framerate is better or worse in the PYS4 game for Ps3?

Overall the game is fun for me. Again though it's not MLB. I am having trouble getting the pitching down right now. Once I get down the menus and know more about what I'm doing I can go deeper into the game. I did manage to get "myself" created last night. However I screwed up and made myself an IF instead of OF. The career mode is pretty much the same as RTTS mode except when on defense the game FF to when the ball is hit NOT just to when the ball is hit to you.
Another example is on stolen base attempts. and double plays. YOU have to get yourself to the bag. The game doesn't automatically take you there.
This is what I like over The Show's RTTS mode. On every hit ball you have to know what to do(Cutoff, cover a base, backup a play etc..). On some plays the game looks great but on some there seems to be some missing animations.

As far as hitting I keep pulling everything foul. Just have to work on timing. ANd it using the cursor hitting. Curser is bat shaped and is pretty accurate as far as hot contact is made.

The game is worth the purchase IF you know what you're getting into. It's a totally different experience than a MLB game and not for everyone.

I'm going to try and post a vid or 2 tonight. Also will be trying to figure out what to to about my dead PC....

ill agree with Sky that I have 0 frame rate issue...it's the cut scenes that turn the tv black for 2-3 or 3-4 sec.Other then that im loving it...also being im not used to cursor batting is quite a challenge. If you like the game of baseball and are willing to work with the menus then it's a no brainer. If you are looking for MLB players and cannot get into japanese baseball then you may want to rent it. Have not tried online yet ...hope to try that tonight...

I accidentely set it up for "Pitch speed:Real" last night also. That lasted 1 at bat before changing it back to Normal.

LOL!! Real Speed! I cannot even find where to change that! Will have to ask the wife....is there a way to turn off the cutscenes?

yeah she is japanese but hates trying to decipher it for me....i'll have to bribe her...manual is freakin big too!! LOL!! EA should look at that! :-)
