The Bigs
IGN released some new information in their sneak peek that will for sure raise some of your eyebrows:
As a thank you for the journalists, we were treated to a sneak preview of 2K Sports' upcoming arcade baseball title, The Bigs. With the exception of a lone screenshot released last Halloween, there hadn't been any footage or information about the game. Apart from rapidly showing off various players, all of whom seemed to have the same visual detail found in MLB 2K7, the teaser trailer highlighted some of The Bigs upcoming features. Gamers will be able to create their own player, giving them various "attitude" features like tattoos, American flag bats and other uniform altering details. These players can be run through various training drills, including batting practice and speed drills, and be put into various game situations to see whether or not they can make the big plays when their team needs them. Like other arcade baseball titles, players will be able to expect thrown balls with flashy comet tails or other supernatural effects, although we were told that there would be no fights or charging the mound in The Bigs.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Tags: None -
Re: The Bigs
I'm guessing this is something my five year old will want to check out, but I doubt it has much appeal to the older crowd. Could be fun for us to play together though, so we'll see. -
Re: The Bigs
I'm personally looking forward to the land mines in the outfield and curve balls with rotating spike action!
Seriously, though...while the player career mode sounds interesting (from what I've heard, it's vaguely like RTTS in some respects, albeit less bogged down in realistic details, I'm sure), I've never felt baseball succeeds as well as other sports do from being "XXTREMED" out.Comment

Re: The Bigs
Still, though, this game has a couple things going for it:
1) I forget his name, but the guy behind MVP Baseball is making the game, and he's stated they're absolutely *not* breaking baseball with any of their effects. In fact, I think I've read somewhere him saying there would *not* be flaming balls, etc., so this may in fact be a typo by IGN.
2) The first Wii baseball game. I'm shocked this hasn't been mentioned- to me, it's far and away the most significant thing about this title. You get to actually SWING at a pitch, instead of pointing an analog stick and pressing a button ... if batter vs. pitcher is done well, that alone makes it my primary baseball game.Comment

Re: The Bigs
Are you kidding? The stadiums look awesome! That's what I mean by stadium "massiveness". Re: The Bigs
True. But does it make more sense when I talk about stadium massiveness, and how 2K7 lacks that? They just seem to be much more interactive with the game as well. I'm sure they have the crowd audio track for home runs much better than in 2K7 as well.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
