Re: Pitching off Mound vs Flatground
For some reason when I played in high school some schools didn't have a mound, and it seemed like I got hit a lot more when I pitched thereCeltics-Red Sox-Patriots

Re: Pitching off Mound vs Flatground
It's definitely much harder to pitch off of a flat mound. For me personally, not having the extra downward force makes a huge difference on my off-speed stuff.Originally posted by billmaticRadman is more like the ******** homeless man's version of Okur.Comment

Re: Pitching off Mound vs Flatground
I'm not sure how much my velocity changed when throwing off flat ground as I was never clocked on flat ground. I assume it did change since I didn't have the rubber to push off of. I was typically in the mid 80's range with my fastball and occasionally got up to the high 80's if I really needed some extra behind it.
However, if I were to throw a curve or slider on flat ground, there was definitely a difference.
Throwing from flat ground is supposed to be better for your arm. I'm not entirely sure why though.Comment
