    ESPN: MLB

Yea, watchin baseball is great, but reading about it is also just as fun for me.

Who else can't wait for baseball to start just to read sections like:

    Useless Information Department
    Rumblings and Grumblings
    Off Base
Peter Gammons (his weekly take on things around baseball)
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

I can't wait either...I can see you're a fan of Jayson Stark, as am I. I love his Rumblings and Grumblings and Useless Info, such fun to read.

I'm not much of a fan of Gammons as I used to be. In fact, I dislike just about everyone associated with ESPN, except for Stark and occasionally Rob Neyer.

I like watching games more though. I'm gonna have tons of fun watching the Cubs this season. I don't have much expectations at all for them doing anything over the realm of a .500 season, but it's going to be fun to see that young pitching staff with another year of experience under their belts, and of course seeing how Choi, Hill, and Patterson do, not to mention how much fun it is always to watch Sammy Sosa. Man I love day baseball, thank goodness for the Cubs.

oh yea, watchin is def much more fun. I just enjoy reading about it too b/c I can't always catch every game on television. I don't think I saw one Pittsburgh Pirates game last year, but thanks to Jayson Stark I know enough about the Pirates, their performances, and their players.

I'm a huge fan of Jayson Stark and Rob Neyer. I love their articles. If a new article is up I have to read it. I can never let it go for later. I'll walk in late to class just to make sure I read the whole article.

As for Peter Gammons, I'm not a huge fan of him. But i still take the time to read his little articles b/c it usually keeps me updated on rumors and trade possibilities around the league. But Gammons also talks a lot of garbage. He has too much favortism for specific teams and really has no idea what he's talking about at times.

And those Cubbies. They should be fun to watch. I wish I could get their games here in MA (or NY when I'm home). The Cubs have a bright future ahead of them. Ofcourse, so do the Reds (they need pitchers though) and the Astros (hitters gettin old?).

This is gonna be a good year for many major league teams. I think a lot of the younger teams like the Padres, Cubs, Marlins, and Blue Jays will show flashes of how good they will and can be. I would have added in the Angels, but they ended up being better 2 years faster than I expected.
