ASB 2004 Menus
Is anyone else surprised about the layout of the menu and that it looks too much like a DVD?Tags: None -

Re: ASB 2004 Menus
Honestly, I really don't care what the menu looks like. I have noticed that the in thing is to make the menu like a front office...but to me, thats just not important. As long as the menu makes sense, and I can get from one place to another with out any problems, you can make it pokemon background if you want. I want to see the features and the gameplay. And Thank God for Acclaim Sports...they honestly have almost everything a baseball game should have. Two 15 man minor league rosters...thats simply enough for me...a 30 man minor league system is plenty, geez, I don't need to grow grey hairs and develop ulcers trying to manage a video game. I would have liked to see them have the minor leaguers attain stats in the minor leagues. I saw in the interview that they fought for this feature but wanted to get the save sizes down...too bad...I can alwasy buy another memory card. Salary arbitration is a great feature in the franchise mode, very big part of baseball and certainly should be in the video game, good job Acclaim! Rule 5 draft, dont know much about it, but I know ASB has it, and I think it will be great...I love the ASB rule book where it breaks everything down for you so you know what everything is. ASB also has rookie draft, and compensatory draft picks...excellent idea. This is truly a great game, and unlike others, I like the batting cursor...I found it a little too easy unlike many replies I have read. I like the fact that I have some control on what my chances are of putting the ball in play, unlike MVP where its more timing and going with the pitch or going opposite field wiht away pitches...seems like those timing swings just lead to zero strikeouts. I love the absolute realism of the ballparks that ASB has created. And time and time again, I feel like I'm watching a real game on TV when I play ASB. HH is just too cartoonish for me...the colors look like something I use to play on nintendo. MVP's graphics do look great, but their features don't begin to add up to ASB. I do like the pitching meter idea...and I do like the momentum meter idea and ability to jump into a simulated game. We'll see how well those features work in their first year of production. I've found that games need 2-5 years to work through problems ...and I expect MVP to be no different, while a major upgrade from Triple Play, impossible it can be flawless so soon. ASB 2004 for me, I reccomend it to anyone. Have a good day everybody!Comment

Re: ASB 2004 Menus
I don't know about anyone else, but I'm wishing I could have ASB's franchise features and someone else's actual gameplay. All the franchise features in the world won't make the game fun if the actual gameplay isn't that good, and my opinion of last year is that it wasn't. That may change this year, but I haven't seen much indication that it has.

Sorry to say, but that's how baseball is (MVP). You shouldn't be able to consistently pull a ball that is away unless you're a really good hitter. Otherwise you're going to end up rolling your hands over and ground out. True, ASB gives you more control over your hitting, but I don't see the realism there.
And back to the topic of the thread, I'm really not all that impressed with the menus. Sure the appearance is nice, but it's essentially the same thing as last year, only instead of the ugly swiveling Tower 'o Menu, you move around a 'la DVD. Though as someone else said, I really don't care what the menus look like as long as they're easy to use and get me where I want to go in an intuitive way.“In my lifetime, we've gone from Eisenhower to George W. Bush. We've gone from John F. Kennedy to Al Gore. If this is evolution, I believe that in twelve years, we'll be voting for plants.” - Lewis BlackComment

Remember you can always customize the cursor to your likiking. Turn off the 3d cursor for example or remove the cursor all together. I agree that giving too much control to the user or batter isn't realistic IMO.Comment
