Re: what were the highlights of ASB Producer........??

I was a little disappointed that the ball to player detection problem was not "fixed" but rather toned down some.
I just can't stand seeing a ball 10 feet from a fielder so I take off for second only to have the fielder bend over no where near the ball and then throw the ball and get me.

It was a snoozer...The dead quiet during a game lack of announcing and it was slow...

The baserunning AI the producer said had been fixed
We will see runners move from first to third this year

            The Vacuum effect...

I had to go out so I didn't get to ask!

From the movies, I still think the Hoover is being used

                <BaseballGuru> fatigue is very accurate
<BaseballGuru> don't expect your closer to last 4 innings
<kerp> do they go by pitch counts, or innings?
<NYJets37> but will they last more than 2 batters?
<NYJets37> yea and what kerp said
<BaseballGuru> yeah, more than 2 batters, depending on the role of the pitcher
<rubisco43> do computer batters actually walk in this game? do computer pitchers actually walk human players? If so, what's the frequency?
<Twist> So you like have really mix up your pitches this year? unlike last year you can throw like 2 straight fastballs and get them behind and then drop a low Change-up or Curve?
                <Twist> to*
<BaseballGuru> walks are much more realistic... and you better be careful about leaving a fat 3-1 change over the dish
<Skyboxer> Are there any more added variations of hit balls...High choppers, dribblers...
<NYJets37> can you change the amount of games per season in franchise mode?
<BaseballGuru> good variation on the hits... down the line drives, gappers, choppers up the middle, dribblers that you have to charge, etc
<Skyboxer> Cool! Thanks for the info Guru. Got to hit the sack.
<BaseballGuru> I'm not sure on the franchise length question

                <Bacardi151> excellent
<BaseballGuru> yes, you hear the umpire calls... they are awesome

<kerp> producer said they varied the outfielders arms to make it easier to take the base
<NYJets37> Is it harder to steal?
                <Twist> how is the CAP
<BaseballGuru> the scenarios are in a pyramid... the ones at the bottom are easy, and as you climb, they get harder... then you can replay them on a harder difficulty... they are a BLAST!
<rubisco43> I'm starting to realize that I'm gonna shell out $200 on the baseball games this year.
<BaseballGuru> stealing depends on your runner and the catcher... Piazza is easy to steal off of

<NYJets37> well last year I could steal everytime with Giambi, will I still be able to do that?
<BaseballGuru> I'm shelling out a big hunk o' cash on them this year as well... baseball is the most competetive market around
<Twist> is there any new expansion stadiums?
<BaseballGuru> I doubt you'll be 100% in Giambi steals this year
<BaseballGuru> there are new expansion stadiums... they look great
<BaseballGuru> my favorite new feature is the revamped franchise mode... and pick-up game too
<Twist> can you name a few and which ones you like?

<kerp> i'm really looking forward to sandlot option in WSB I think that would be perfect along with the pickup game option
<BaseballGuru> yes, still alternate jerseys, along with throwback and negro league jerseys

<rubisco43> i might have missed this... but how deep is the minor leagues? will we see A, AA, and AAA? And how many players per level?
<NYJets37> this never got answered before, is there an option to turn off homerun cutscenes?
<BaseballGuru> High Minors and Low Minors... 15 players per team
<BaseballGuru> you won't see the cut scenes as often, but no option to turn them off
                * Guest79569 has quit IRC (QUIT: Leaving)
<rubisco43> Will there be an amateur draft? Can we draft high schoolers?
                <BaseballGuru> yes to both
                <BaseballGuru> well, 18 years old
                <BaseballGuru> that's the youngest
<kerp> will the high school players take longer to develop versus the college players?
<rubisco43> (I'm obviously new to the series with these newbie Q's)
<kerp> last year in WSB I could have a 19 year old rated 95
<BaseballGuru> depends on your budget allotment and other factors... put more money in coaching to have them develop faster
<NYJets37> Does the Xbox version look significantly different then the PS2 version?
<Twist> Guru-----How is the CAP this year?
<BaseballGuru> CAP, as in salary cap?
<rubisco43> how do player ratings work? and do they develop based on their own personal talent or based on coach's talents?
                <Twist> no Create a player
<BaseballGuru> the xbox looks nice... but so does the ps2... hard to tell
<kerp> does the cap differ according to your market? and how do they decide on the points if so?
<BaseballGuru> Create a player is awesome... you can even give your batter a walk up song for hitting
<NYJets37> Are the computer trades toned down and more realistic?
                <NYJets37> woah thats cool
<Twist> sweet...is the batting stance going to be fixed?

<BaseballGuru> CPU trades are very well done this year... my favorite new feature in franchise is the trading block
<funky_chicken> Is the easy hitting option still available?
<BaseballGuru> easy hitting, zone, 2d, and 3d cursor batting
<NYJets37> Is the game overall more difficult than last year?
<BaseballGuru> zone= High Heat style batting
<BaseballGuru> I don't know about more difficult, but much more realistic... lower scores

<funky_chicken> I'm sorry if you already answered this, I got kicked out for a sec. What is zone hitting?

<rubisco43> So Guru, in all honesty, where do you think ASBB could improve on for next year... or other options for next year?
<Bacardi151> BG let us know when you are gonna come around to have some Q&A in the future
<BaseballGuru> next year? we'll have to wait and see
                  <Bacardi151> lol

Now that we know who he is, and his intentions, can Guru come back ot the board?

I always hated his approach, but now that I understand his motives, I think he would be a valuable person to speak to - like FatPitcher.

I don't know if PJ, ASB Producer, and Guru are all one in the same, but having access to team members and developers is what makes OS such a rockin' place.

True that. I know that Guru was biased in his unashamed love for asb, but he never really bashed the other games any harder than viper does any game other than high heat.

It would be great to have guru around over the next few weeks as the games are released and still after that he could supply info on how to work out bugs like fat pitcher did last year with wsb.

Has anybody heard anything about the presentation and audio in the game? Last years was so boring to play because there was no excitement from the announcers or fans for the most part. The only time you heard the fans get into it was late in the game during a rally, and even then they werent that hot. Im really interested in this because I just got a 5.1 system in my room and now audio in games is more important that ever to me
