Those with ASB 2003--why are you getting 2004?

Ok, please refrain from comments on why you're not getting it. I realize it is not one of the more popular games on the board.

I really like ASB 2003 (despite its flaws) and I have not seen a lot in the previews for 2004 that tell me it is time for an upgrade. Many of the features (classic players, pick up game) I probably wouldn't use anyway.

I do like having real minor league players and being able to choose music for guys coming to the batter's box but what I really want is:

    -- different length seasons
-- off season trades (better off season all together actually)
    -- better pitcher stamina
-- realistic injuries (I could play with an injured guy with no problems)

I guess there would be more but those stick out to me most.

I've learned to live with them and I am not sure they are fixed in 2004. Have they been?

Anyway, those of you with 2003--why are you going to upgrade (or why aren't you).

Currently playing Axis Football (2020) as the Nebraska Thunder

I returned mine for this years addition, which should be better than last years. And yes you're right, it isn't one of the popular games in the boards. And there are people who attack the game here too. BTW, ASB 2004 might be the last baseball game i'll get unless something better comes along.

-season lengths are the same (with spring training and a "real" All-Star Game which now has homerun derby and other stuff)
-I've questioned the off-season trades with an earlier thread, but i've never gotten any good information
-the pitcher has more stamina i believe
-and the injuries are something i don't know about.

This is ACCLAIM we are talking about. This series really could be special in the right hands, but ever since the revolutionary N64 versions something went wrong. That is when I used to LOVE the series, they should of built off that. Instead the decide to add hr cinema's(and bugs) etc....my concern is with all of these feature updates acclaim seems to not be smart in alloting there development time properly. IMO after the current gameplay model is at a high level, add this stuff in(or do it more slowly each year). No one knows if it will even have sliders!! Then again acclaim is in a cold streak so i don't know.

I will tell you why I am not getting burned by Acclaim for the 3rd year in a row.
Double in the gap, K, Double in the gap, K, HR
                    Double, K, Double, K, HR
The game just isn't fun, you can't even string hits together to score and all the CPU players are Vladimir Guererro on All-Star level meaning they hit ankle high curve balls for HR's.
                    The pitching stamina was bad.
                    The vacuum effect was terrible.
                    The baserunning was unresponsive.
The cursor, well everyone knows the cursor was always a second behind the ball.

There are also a lot of things that were great about ASB, but I think there are other games that offer much better gameplay. It is personal preference, do you mind sacrificing great gameplay for great features? I was considering buying ASB, but I don't believed they have fixed the gameplay problems.

I'm only getting it because it's the only option for the Xbox, if it comes out on the 26th. High Heat hasn't even passed quality control, and while people are saying early March, I think it won't be out until several weeks later. WSB is supposed to be out in the middle of March, but Sega is well known for delaying this game, and anyway the the middle of the month is quite a wait compared to the 26th.
