Top 100 player Edits (Please list here)
Figured we could start the thread and begin listing players that need adjusting and the ratings that need to be adjustedTags: None -
Re: Top 100 player Edits (Please list here)
Hah... well here's what I did with Josh Beckett:
Facial Hair #12 - The beard is fine if you prefer it since he seems to grow it out on a whim to a kind of long 5 o'clock shadow. I think this looks more like him though and less like a caveman or Matt Morris.
Pitches (he only throws four and his 4-seamer and curve are his primaries):
2-Seam Fastball: 1/2 (I brought this down to one because his 2-seamer isn't really a heavy one but I could go with 2)
Drop Curve: 5 (basically his 12-6 and one of the best curves in the league)
Changeup: 2/3 (he really throws it 85 mph or so but I guess we'll have to deal, it's pretty much league average or slightly below now, kind of a mix-in pitch for him)
Fastball Life: 3 (he does NOT have a flat fastball)
Spin: 4 - (the guy throws a tremendous curve and while I'm not clear on this attribute I can't imagine he's not deserving of it)
I also got rid of the Choke Artist and Walk attributes and gave him Hot Head. He really needed a lot of editing since his 2006 wasn't so hot but he's a top 2 or 3 Cy guy this year. After giving him a go just now he's pretty much a fastball/curve guy with some mix in stuff just like he is in real life. None of that silly forkball stuff that Konami shipped him with. The hatchet job that needs to be done to Diasuke will balance out the Sox's pitching staff if you're worried about them being too good after this edit.Last edited by ComfortablyLomb; 10-04-2007, 10:41 PM. -
Re: Top 100 player Edits (Please list here)
Schilling:
Velocity down to 93 mph.
Hard Slider: 2
Drop Curve: 2
Splitter: 3
Changeup: 1
His stuff has really declined over the past few years. Still has a great fastball in that he can spot it well and have it pop a little but it's only 89-91 these days and I don't think I've seen him faster than 93 this year. There's an option in the abilities area to make him throw mostly fastballs when he's being controller by the AI, I selected it since he pretty much relies on that pitch and uses everything else sparingly.Comment

Re: Top 100 player Edits (Please list here)
Since the full edit won't be done for a while, I'll try and help out with this list.
1. Hideki Matsui
Bring trajectory up to 3. Power to low-mid B. Contact to 10. Clutch hitter 5. Remove the star player ability. He's famous, but people don't scream when he walks up to the plate. Bring down his defense if you want.
2. Carlos Pena
Trajectory 4. Contact to 9. Power around low to mid A. Power Hitter ability, slugger AI, Intimidator, free swinger, star.
3. Adrian Beltre
Contact 9 or 10. Power to low to mid B. Speed 10(stole over 10 bases). Arm strength 14(managers named him top 3B arm). Defense 12 or 13. Clutch hitter 4, free swinger, first pitch hitter, pull hitter, gold glover, throw accuracy to normal, star, slugger, aggressive hitter and fielder.
4. Jose Guillen
Trajectory 3. Contact 9. Power low B. Arm 13. Defense 8. Error 6. Pull hitter, clutch hitter 4, game ender hit/homer, free swinger, cannon arm, aggressive batting, fielding, and baserunning.
5. Alex Rodriguez
Trajectory 4. Contact B. Power maxed out. Speed 12. Clutch hitter 4, vs. lefty 4, power hitter, free swinger, pull hitter, intimidator, game ender, steal 4, star, slugger, aggressive batting, and you can use the ability for him to have a role in the morale of the team if you want.
I'm just writing these off the top of my head right now, so I'm sure I've forgotten a few things.

Re: Top 100 player Edits (Please list here)
Here's the rest of the Sox pitching staff. I'm fairly certain I have the pitches right for the vast majority of it. The real question is how much the attributes affect things. Safe bet is to just change the pitches for the time being.
Matsuzaka - 95 mph
Control D, Walk
Hard Slider: 4
Cutter: 2
Curve: 3
Circle Change: 2
Splitter: 1
Tavarez - 92 mph
Change: 1 (instead of the splitter, everything else stays the same)
I dropped his fastball life to "3" too since it's not really anything special.
Lopez
Added VS LF BATTER.
Papelbon - 98 mph
Hard Slider: 3
Splitter: 4
Changeup: 2
VS LH BATTER to 3, added Dr. K + Intimidator (this is one of the 2-3 best relievers in baseball we're talking about here)
Decarmen - 98 mph
Drop Curve: 4
Changeup: 1
Control down to "E" from "B". His control might even be worse. I added the WALK ability too. VS LH BATTER down to 2.
Timlin - 91 mph
2-seamer: 2
Cutter: 2
Slider: 2
Changeup: 1Last edited by ComfortablyLomb; 10-05-2007, 02:06 PM.Comment

Re: Top 100 player Edits (Please list here)
I gave Papelbon A control, Dr. K, Intimidator, extra life on his fastball, recovery 4, star, and power pitcher. I also jacked up his splitter to 4 level.
For Daisuke, I gave him D control, Dr. K, walk, poise 4, vs. runners 2(he sucks out of the stretch), consistency 2, and probably a couple more I'm forgetting. I definitely made him very weak in certain situations, which he has shown himself to be all year.

Good job so far guys!
So who's going to make the first Joba Chamberlain CAP?
Better give his slider the best ratings possible and make him a strikeout god. Can it be done?Comment

Re: Top 100 player Edits (Please list here)
Lopez actually isn't all that great against lefties, even though that's how he's mainly used. And Papelbon doesn't throw a change.
Anyway, I just got the game and haven't really touch the edit mode yet. But to me, the first priority is editing the "fake" players who aren't part of the Player's Union. Anyone want to just go through and list them all? I just took a glance and saw Bonds on the Giants, Millar on the O's (as well as some pitcher), and Donnelly on the Red Sox. We should figure out exactly what stances are theirs.Last edited by Junior Asparagus; 10-06-2007, 02:03 AM.Comment

Re: Top 100 player Edits (Please list here)
I'd give Wang at least a 4 level hard sinker. I'll probably start trying to make real players in Success starting today. I'll do Ryan Braun first. Any Brewers fans want to post up some potential numbers for him? I know jack about his speed, arm, defense, and situational abilities. I'll probably do Hughes or Joba after that.
