    Thanks again.
No prob. There are tons of little things in the game that are very, very easy to miss.

Do you guys have the marker on where it shows where the ball will land for fly balls? I think it's off by default, but man is it hard to judge fly balls with no marker.

      What setting is everyone using?

Also, what are people using - cpu pitch cursor on or off. It's weird to think of playing a game when you know where the pitch is heading, but it's almost impossible to hit with the CPU pitch cursor off.

What's everyone using for cpu pitch cursor? (on or off)

i started a season, with everything on powerful except batting.
          boy, was i too cocky.

but put in a lot of time making my fantasy draft team, did a lot of trades etc., so i'm just planning to sim through my 1st season, change the settings, than start playing on season 2.

i'm ok with the no-cursor, powerful pitching, it's not too bad. maybe i mead my team too strong. either way, i could always up the lock-on if i wanted to.
CPU running and Def. ain't too bad either, though i might lower em to AS.
Batting was where it killed me. consistently gave up 6-12 hits, 1-2, HRs, 3-5 runs a game, even with my Ace.
So i'll probably lower it to Expert, and later if it becomes too easy, i'll give em lock on too.

anyways, for ppl like me who don't want to restart their season, my advice would be to just sim it, and start again on season 2.

any other settings advice is still appreciated.

SG24 -- I'm not ashamed to admit that I have both of those markers on. For fly balls, watch for the triangle over the OFer's heard to turn blue so you know that you are in the right spot. I was misjudging flies even with the marker on before I caught on to that.

With pitch cursor on for the cpu, what do you have your hitting on? Normal? auto-lock?

I think I just noticed something... the hardest thing about CPU pitching on Powerful is when the cursor is on. They move it all around before the pitch, and when it disappears it might not necessarily be where they throw it when they release the ball. Also seems like they throw more strikes, too.

Re: MLB Power Pros Diffuculty Settings Thread

I think having the pitching cursor on is a great thing for this game, and actually leads to a better experience. I'm playing with the normal batting (read: NO Lock-on), and I've had a challenge even hitting on Expert pitching. The reason is because the cursor moves and what would be a 460 ft. HR on a fastball instead turns into a groundout to 2nd because of a curve or changeup. Not only that, but if you move the cursor to meet the ball, you won't make completely solid contact on it (might still be enough for a solid hit, but you won't be hitting many HR's like that). So, not only do you have to determine whether it's a ball or strike, you also have to guess at what the pitch will be, even though you can see where it starts. That's not easy, at least for me. And when you're up against a good sinkeballer (say, Brandon Webb), just start praying. I faced Webb in one of my games and he was just completely unhittable, I either rolled weak grounders to the infield or was staring at called 3rd's on the outside corner (thinking it was going to be a sinker for a ball).

I see why this hitting system is so acclaimed in Japan.

One other thing...I use the normal hitting mostly because I think it's the only way to get "Best Try" or perfect contact. It almost requires that you be centered on the pitch as soon as it leaves the pitcher's hand, and believe me, you know it when you've hit one like that. The best way to practice it is to in the Batting Practice mode which tells you what kind of contact you've made (early, late, good/best try). I haven't yet been able to get that Best try with any level of lock-on hitting.

Are you using your settings in season mode.

Would you be willing to post all your settings. I am looking for realistic gameplay and I would like to start my season but have been hesitant since we can't change difficulty mid-season.

Thanks for the info. I just wasn't sure if I felt like I was cheating with the pitching cursor on for the CPU. I think I'll go ahead and leave it on. Now with batting at "Normal" that is supposed to be harder then at Lock-1 right? You are saying you are getting better contact with normal? What difficulty do you have the cpu pitcher on. I've been trying CPU Pitch at All-Star and hitting at Lock-1 and I'm struggling to score runs. Maybe I should put my hitting at "normal" with no lock and lower the cpu pitching to "expert" or something lower. I hate how you can't change the settings mid season. So i'm trying to get the right set before moving forward.

Thanks for all the feedback. I'm curious to hear the rest of your settings.

I'm interested to hear about people's thoughts on Normal hitting. I'm using Lock-1 right now with decent results. But if I'm going to switch eventually, I should give it a go now.

It's not that I'm able to to get better contact consistently, because I still hit a ton of weak grounders to the infield. What normal hitting allows me to do is get the full power of the hitter when I hit one just right. Don't get me wrong, you can still hit plenty of homers with lock-on, but that extra bit of power can mean the difference between a HR and a long fly out for a weaker hitter. Like my F-power rated Success mode namesake, for example - I can get plenty of hits with him (gave him a B contact to make up for the power), but the only way I will ever hit HR's with him is making "Best Try" contact.

I'm playing with all of the AI difficulties on Expert, and as I mentioned in the season mode thread, I've got my hands full just on that level. I don't draw any walks, but it's surprisingly not bothering me very much. My runs have been in the range of 3-5 per game, which isn't too much, but that kinda goes along with my 1-6 record as well...

I'm thinking CPU pitching needs to be on All Star. With it on Expert they do little movement with the curson. On All Star they seem to move the cursor around more which makes cursor hitting just a little more challenging.

                                Anyone else notice this?
